Twelve Egyptian newspapers Tuesday
refused to publish and five TV stations
have suspended their broadcasts in
protest of the new Islamist-drawn
constitution, as tens of thousands
prepare for an anti-Mursi rally outside
the presidential palace.
The self-imposed media blackout
comes one day after several Egyptian
newspapers, including Al Watan and
Al-Masry Al-Youm, carried a front
page image showing the silhouette of
a reporter in shackles behind bars
under the headline: “A constitution
that cancels rights and shackles
freedoms. No to dictatorship.”
For all of those running around claiming that Morsi is “the new pharaoh” here is the translation of the new constitution they are having the people vote for on Dec. 15th. Before the break, I am posting Chapter 3 article 14 which deals with the economy. The entire translation, taken from here, is after the break. You want to talk about a constitution that expressly forbids neoliberalism, this is it. No privatization, workers are guaranteed a percentage of profits, wages tied to production. Also check out Article 35 which deals with lawful detention. Compare it to the NDAA 2012 section we are fighting against here.
I’m not saying it’s perfect but it’s a damn site better than what the Egyptian people had under out puppet Mubarak and it goes a long way to show what is really happening in Egypt with the supreme court doing everything they can to stop it from becoming the law of the land.
In previous articles, I have repeatedly
posted direct quotes from the
constitution which will be voted on by
the people of Egypt so that people are
able to understand what it is that is
REALLY at the heart of this
administration’s hatred of it. Below I
am reposting some of those in the
hopes that you will pass this on,
repost it, put it up as a comment in
other forums, so that people start to
understand just what is happening
and what is at stake. They want to do
another intervention in Egypt to keep
this from becoming the law of the
land and unfortunately, the “antiwar”
alternative press is aiding and abetting
their propaganda. There will be a
massive demonstration in the next
day or so in Egypt to show solidarity
with their government and this
document. Don’t expect even handed
reporting on that and you might even
see some false flag activity in order to
justify intervention. Help get this word
out if you can.
At least four tanks and several armored personnel carriers (APC) have been deployed outside the presidential palace in Cairo, Egypt following clashes between supporters and opponents of president Mohamed Morsi where as many as six people were killed. More than 700 others have been reported injured.
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy has canceled his decree giving him sweeping powers but plans to push forward with a planned referendum December 15 on a draft constitution, said presidential adviser Mohamed Selim el-Awwa.
