I can see that they'll use child pornography or terrorism or other things they don't really care about as excuses to monitor and censor.

People are just being too accepting of the changes. They aren't paying attention, hardly surprising considering there's always some new mental illness being invented as yet another reason to drug people and make them docile.

When I first heard about the idea that this world dominance would come I actually didn't think it would be in my lifetime. Not that it was far fetched but that the technology wouldn't exist to pull it all off, but it does.

They've been doing it right before our very eyes long since most on here were even born. Those born now won't ever know and their children, completely clueless.

If you're into installing the newest version of Real Player it comes with a video downloader, converter. Once you've installed the real player (not sure which version it is, I'm not at my computer to look), everytime you watch a video on YouTube, or some other video sites or players, a little tab pops up to 'download video'.

That is a pretty scary thought. Especially because, once you're there, they don't even have to give you a trial. These laws are getting out of hand.

that's what Ive been saying all along , we the people of the world need to make our own free internet , if all of us chipped in like a kick-starter for a video game , we could save enough money to buy satellites and pay a private space company to launch them and we would have our own internet cloud surely that would work if we set up our own company and put satellites in space orbit to make our own global network without any restrictions on our internet freedoms !

Exactly. They do not care about porn. People in congress have been caught looking at porn, or engaged in illicit behavior and activities. They just want to claim that porn and terrorism is one of the problems they are addressing but the truth of the matter is, they want to control any anti govt talk or information available to the public.

If they do kill the internet or censor it heavily, then we will need to go back to the times when internet was not around for every one. We need to get information out the way people did a long time ago, by meeting face to face, and holding discussions. Figuring out who you want to keep in touch with now, would be a good idea so that there is no cut off of information.

I remember a time when there was no internet, or everyone having a home computer. People will find a way around this somehow.

Also, let's remember this much:

What do TPTB do when they want to discredit someone and ruin their reputation? They charge that person with child porn, because that's the worst of the worst, to be seen as a pedophile. This basic thing is what will they will use to get people to support this, as has already been mentioned in the thread. If people do not agree, then they might be accused of supporting child porn.... and these accusations and social media attacks will spread like wildfire. No one wants to be seen as a person that would support something so horrible, so they will jump on the bandwagon and agree that the internet must be heavily censored. The pressure to comply and agree with come through twitter and facebook, even celebrities will join in on waging this "new war".

Let's say you are a government that wants to do something naughty? Like maybe open fire on a group of protesters who are making noise outside of your Federal building and making a general nuisance of themselves - and you decide "enough is enough" and you send in the riot police to bash heads and send a strong message.

Only that darned Youtube and that God awful Twitter... Yeah they cause quite the uproar when Governments do bad things.

I agree Heff, but I seriously do not think they would totally kill the internet. Facebook is one of the biggest and most successful spy programs to date.

I've been saying here (and everywhere else) for a couple of years now that all of our governments have intentions to crack down on the internet, for their own survival.

In the UK, the legislation they have been planning preaches about cracking down on crime and terrorism, but those involved in that would already use encryption and VPN methods that the general public doesn't use. The plans the UK government has would NOT do anything to limit crime and terrorism, it would only allow them to gather vast data on every innocent citizen in the UK, and allow them to limit and restrict any form of communication when it comes to political protest.

It's no coincidence that all of these measures are being discussed now, as the economic collapse deepens and governments around the world face increasing protests from their people.

Why were these measures not being considered after 9/11 or 7/7? Because governments were not being overthrown back then, it was just terrorism. There has always been crime and terrorism, and those acting in such a way will always use the internet. The methods of monitoring will no change the effectiveness of monitoring of criminals, it will only limit and restrict genuine protest and real sharing of information between innocent members of the public.

These measures are intended for one thing - to shield governments from their people.

I can almost guarantee what is going to happen. The western nations will pass laws to monitor and control internet communications, email, text, phone calls and everything else they can get their hands on, so that they can shut down sites organizing protests, arrest those planning peaceful marches, accuse those organizers of terrorism, force news organizations to remove stories... that is what we are looking at.

This is the rebirth of the KGB on a global scale. Only now, instead of having a few thousand files on "dissidents" with very limited information, they will have vast, searchable databases with everything on them, including your sexual orientation, religious beliefs, political opinions, shopping habits, interests, the books you read, your family members, your friends, name, address, email accounts, Google search history...

This is truly scary, we have to stop this from happening. If your government is planning such a move (they all are) everyone needs to be calling, emailing and visiting their elected to impress upon them how damaging and dangerous this would be.

This was what Bill Cooper talked about doing extensively, back in the 90's before the internet was going strong. Figuring out how to spread truth over the airways. It looks like that time to have to get "more creative" with this concept could be right around the corner.
