Iranian blogger that critized leaders pays the ultimate price!

For anyone thinking Iranian leaders are treating their own people fairly just look at the 'justice' they dealt activist Sattar Beheshti when he continued to criticize the leaders about their treatment of the people.
Iran leaders feel the internet is one of their largest problems as they do NOT want the world to find out what is going on in the country:

The last thing he posted was "Iranian authorities had given him an ultimatum: Either stop posting his "big mouth" attacks against the ruling system or tell his mother that she will soon be in mourning!"

guess he should really leave that country or try to. It looks like he is already in danger if he is being threatened.

if america did the same thing, 99.9% of ats members would be in serious trouble.

the difference is not freedom of speech, it's that the power elite are so entrenched that they much prefer you spouting off at home on your computer than outside the white house.

Face it, Some countries just simply wont stand for their citizens to express how they really feel.

Why single out Iran?,how convenient OP,there are dozens of other countries who are responsible for assassination and abuse ....many other countries guilty of human rights abuses and mass murder, yet these are comparatively acceptable? agenda much?

Sorry, you missed the point or I didn't make it well enough.

You seem to think that the freedoms you claim to have, that you don't have any more, should be freedoms granted world wide. Not everyone agrees with this.

Freedom of speech without responsibility is just wrong. The only reason a US citizen would have for curbing their freedom of speech is because they may get sued for defamation.

So you do have limits. The only ones that count are those with a $$$ cost.

Why not accept that other countries have a right to protect their way of life and their value system.

It seems to be the US way or bombs!

Yeah well people have the right to trash talk their own leaders if they choose to and killing them if they don't like what they say is the Iranian way.

It's a little disappointing that some feel they have to move from the topic "Iranian blogger. . ." to "Well, why don't you talk about all the other countries of the world who don't allow freedom of speech?" There are several reasons, which I am sure the objector can discover with another moment of thought.

And "Americans don't have every right they should have." Beides being irrelevant (see above) it is a false equivalence.

If a problem is discovered, it should be solved, not ignored because there are other problems. If a poster believes that Iran's behavior in this case is fine, then say so. If it's a problem, admit it and help come up with a solution.

Accept that countries can kill people who express their opinions? Accept that? If we say that's fine, then what will we ever object to? Even the much-hated and reviled American government doesn't make a decision to kill some one who disagrees.

There are people in America who will tell you to stop doing or saying things or you'll likely 'disappear' too.

It all depends were you live and who you associate with.

I sympathize, really I do. Even after the irrelevant and derailing attacks of posters have been brought to light, they still continue. Bradley Manning, indeed. Another false equivalence. Disclosing truck loads of classfied documents and being put in jail is so equivalent to bumping off a blogger.

At least one poster provides a novel theory. The Iranian government has no control of itself. It is so upset at the way things are, they just have to go out and kill people.

So, for those who want a serious discussion, may I offer one possibility? Get the UN to declare freedom of speech a human right, then clamp down on governments that don't allow it. At least it would force the objecting nations to come out in the open and say "We don't believe in freedom of speech." Then the US could kick out the UN and start a new organization from nations which support freedom.

Why shouldnt Iran's actions be discussed? We hear all day, every day, 24/7, about things that go on in other countries around the globe all the time. So, why not show and discuss what's going on in Iran as well?
