Secondly if you read the section dealing with who said what you would notice the person said the investigator told him. Not the police..

He was telling the police that when the entity came to his door to collect, thats what the investigator told him.

Just like here in the US, Swdish police do not cetermine a persons guilt or innocense, the courts do. The ISP flagged the account because of the attempt to illegally download music. That is not in dispute since the father admitted as much.. Whether the files were successfuloly downloaded or not is again moot.

You arent going to get a walk if you try and rob a bank and walk out empty handed are you?

Maybe if the girl saved her money she would not be in the positiuon she is eh?

That's the original source. That translates to:

"It would be easiest for everyone if you just paid the bill, which as far as we know isn't even 4 digits. Then our gloves would come off". That's what the police had said when they fetched the laptop.

Also the girl hardly saved any money since she went out to buy the cd anyway. It was just digital copies. Also it's not a swedish case.

How about they spend less time tracking users and more time tracking and eliminating the sources.

The way the article reads it seems more like entrapment than anything else. If copyright law is broken the copyright holder has a right to compensation. I just feel that the settlement amounts don't even remotely fit the offense, and they should be focusing on the originators of the pirated material.

If a computers ability to read and reconstruct memories or thoughts becomes perfect, then what will they do to keep someone from remembering the song and broadcasting it to teh world.... or recording it.

The record companies are fighting a losing battle.

We don't need another forum where we can hide behind our words, we need to take direct action against those scum.it will only escalate if we sit back and let it continue.

You try taking any direct action against the Police and i think you will find they generally win my friend. Here in the UK you cannot even sue the Police unless they actively show malice towards you. And our words have a power of a kind. A dedicated forum towards police brutality can only be a good thing. Free speech is a fundamental Human right after all!

Which is why we need to start taking direct action,what would concern them more,thousands venting their anger on an internet forum or thousands demonstrating in Whitehall?

If you want to take serious action that can make a difference, run for city council. They city gov tell the police chief what to do, make the local laws, etc. This is where to start. Anything elser will result in injury and bloodshed. Throw out the career fatcats and occupy gov with everyday citizens as it was meant to be. You can raise a ruckus at the city council meeting until then. The meetings were meant for us to voice our thoughts. Too few people take advantage of that.
