Obama's Gun Ban List Is Out!

I ran across this article tonight and it bothers me because someone at work had mentioned that if BO got re-elected one of the first thing he'd go after was our guns. I'd didn't know much about guns or think much of it at the time, but when I heard that within 12 hours of being re-elected he signed some sort of U.N. Treaty or promissary note or something (maybe someone here can shed more light on this than I can)

Does this bother anyone else on ATS? I don't want to see our country go the way of China.

So let me get this straight. Americans have the right to bear arms, EXCEPT for the list? So when did the right to bear arms get diced up and quantified into specifically what is okay and not okay?

I don't see something like this getting through. That is a HUGE list.

Glad I sold all my stuff that was on that list a few months back

That UN treaty thing does make me very uneasy though..

It won't. We all know one of the last steps a tyrannical government does before we get dropped in the gallows is to take away firearms. Obama tries to do this TS will HTF in a way that will make him think he died and woke up in hell.

I love how the President, after getting elected, never gets any input from the people who voted them in. They take it upon themselves to issue orders no matter if they are popular or not.

Its like "Hey you voted me to represent you, thanks for your input, I'm just gonna do it this way."

It wouldn't be so bad if our representatives engaged the public. The only time I see any cooperation between our representatives and the people they represent are when they are trying to get elected. After that, crickets.

Yeah, it is a huge list. Which makes me think it's their opening play. It's too big a list to swallow all at once, but they can negotiate away a good portion of it while still getting what they want. Once the process is started, once the idea is accepted, they can peck away at it piecemeal all they want....

Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms. It will never happen! The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened.
Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws.

Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress.
We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public.

We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment. This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control. Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country is headed. Straight into socialism if Obama has his way... That's a pretty big list. If Obama does try to introduce another AWB (assault weapon ban), Im pretty sure the Republicans in the House will block it.....plus Obama has been pretty good for the gun industry. Record sales, plus prices being pushed higher and higher. It's times like this when I wished I had bought some shares in Smith and Wesson, and other manufacturers.

With the way the economy and unemployment is at the moment, I dont think he's going to push hard for a gun ban. Even in the debates, gun ban stuff came up only a small amount. I just dont see any momentum at the moment for Obama to push this.....in 2 or 3 more years though, Im not sure. I think it depends on how the economy is then.

Overall, Im not losing sleep about Obama coming to my house and taking my guns. There is a chance that that may happen, but to me it seems pretty small

ETA - And that UN treaty thing, Im not worried about that. I highly doubt Congress would ratify it, plus Reid vs Covert in 1957 established the Constitution supersedes international treaties.

Sorry the blog doesn't really have any sources beyond people trying to sell books around gun laws. They even have a YouTube video from 2009 that is supposed to be supporting evidence in some way...

This is great news! I hope he pushes this full force! Come on Barack lets get the party started pull back the curtains and show your true colors! You already know who most of the patriots are so put them to the test lets see if they have the mettle...

Imho....the Obama administration needs to be concerned about the 'guns' that are sold under his administration through our government first...and yes track down the illegal ones that under his office were illegally pushed.

Leave the law abiding citizens alone.

Otherwise, a huge, uncontrollable black market will once again be created by an inept government.

It won't fly. To ratify a treaty requires 2/3 vote in the Senate. 55 of the Senate seats are Democrats. They'll need some Republicans to cross ranks and vote with them. 2/3 of the Senate is 67 seats.

There's been an "assault weapon" gun ban before - it's possible it will happen again...the best we can do is be vocal about it but I'm not sure that will change anything.

My main concern is that the current firearms are grandfathered in - similar to what was done in the 90s Clinton ban.

Maybe because those are stupid things? Whatfor do you need a telescope on your self-defense-weapon? For something like "active" self-defense over a mile away?

No. Demanding to have the rights to wear army-style-weapons is nothing anybody should be proud of.

While I agree with the 2nd amendment, there's nothing on that list that's any news to anyone.. Owning a Tec9 or an UZI has been verboten for a few years now....

Just because you're scared of someone with an assault rifle doesn't mean he's going to shoot you with it.
Many, many, many more responsible gun owners & collectors than crazy loons out there.

If you try to take away these guns now that they're already so pervasive they'll just end up making their way down to the people who don't mind owning an illegal gun - THE CRIMINALS.

It is not always about "guns"; rights move to the forefront.

A telescope to kill a mile away etc. etc.? Seriously....I have scopes, used them to hunt....I do not anymore, my son's do. So what is your problem? Seriously, what is the issue? There was a time that peep-sights were considered 'very lethal'...I have a few of those in my collection. One on a M1. WWII vintage. Scope on a Springfield 306, also WWII. So, suddenly "Scopes" are killing more than guns with open sites? Ummmm...look at domestic pistol deaths vs. rifles. Oh, most of those guns are stolen if you really dig....so your point?

Should the gun restriction laws get passed, and I doubt they will (idiots will try and pass it), years from now come for my lawfully obtained guns...they will suddenly be 'stolen'.

If it's true I can't see this flying under ANY radar. the NRA would be screaming bloody murder!

Tell those guys they can't have their riot shotguns for protection or extended clips for their Glocks.....
much less they have to get rid of their AK's.....not gonna happen in my lifetime.

thing about these people is that they usually do believe in the law.
