How far underground did these things live? I figure underground is a good place to live. When I was a kid I was facinated by the idea. I was scared of storms and tornadoes so I thought it would be great to live underground and just not have to give a care. Underground it stays about the same temperature all year long. You don't really have to get too cold or hot. I don't know how to keep a hole from flooding. Also you need some support system or it could all cave in on you. I know enough that I know it wouldn't be a good idea just to dig into a hill randomly. I'd still love to live in a hobbit hole. Of course, I'd want some hobbit neighbors. I wouldn't want to be the only one under the hill.
