Who cares if they are rich. They made their money. What will more taxes do to help the poor?? Nothing!! The taxes will be used to bailout the lobbyist corporate bosses. NOne go to help the economy. It's a sales pitch that is full of lies. We need to stop the corporate bailout spending in Washington. Let them fall off the cliff so they can cut spending. U give them more money they will keep on coming until there is nothing left to loot.

Hey, taxing them a little more really shouldn't be this big of a deal, when it can have enormous benefits to the country as a whole. They have every right to earn billions of dollars and spend it as they see fit, but they need to be taxed accordingly... it really won't damage their pocketbooks and they still have the right to spend their cash on giant flying golden toilets or whatever they want... or bathe in nickels, I really don't care, I love capitalism, but to suggest those that control most of the money shouldn't pay a higher percentage of tax seems a bit ridiculous.

But that is the problem. The tax system is a fraudulent one. The tax system was not created to benefit us.

The above statement could certainly be legitimately debated... and rightfully so, however I think that a tax system does need to exist. Either way the system exists as it does and we are not going to see a complete overhaul or re-invention unless the system does collapse entirely, and we can build something better. All I am saying is that the form of capitalism, and taxation we currently have should be shifted to help those who make the wealthy... wealthy.

I have a problem with Papa John's founder's opinions, but not the that he was successful, in fact his story is inspirational.

I'm glad that you and I were able to discuss this to some degree. IMO our overall opinions about what is wrong with this country are quite similar, yet we disagree substantially on the details. Thanks for challenging me... and being polite, hopefully we can have continued discussion about this and other matters. Even if I disagree with you, at least your opinions seem to be your own, and not what you have been told to believe... a rare quality indeed.

We should care because the money they make is mainly circulating or stagnating at the top through financial instruments, cash hording, dividend payouts, executive pay, etc. If the wealthy were using their income to innovate and build (causing money to circulate to working people) I doubt there would be much outcry as Americans are, at least relative to European countries, very tolerant of inequality.

So you actually believe that an employer must supply you with health insurance. I guess next it's a car, a house, vacation, clothing your kids. You are the worst of the greedy. You believe everyone must give you what you want and if they do not your going to trash them because you have the maturity of a 6 year old. Go stomp your feet and cry see where that gets you. I guess if your neighbor has a better car, or a wife better than yours; he should be forced to give it to you. Are we arrogant and jealous. Sure looks like it, sounds like it, feels like it. Yeah the little boy in you is still pissed because your friend got a GI Joe and you did not. Grow up.

Well, that's certainly one of the only reasons I have a job.

I have a picture of Captain Obvious but don't feel like going through the hassle of embedding it.

You sir...are an

and the one that needs to grow up. You need to wake up and stop dreaming you will one day need to protect your hoard of loot....you will never have one...you post rings obvious that you will never be that bright.

Yes, either employers pay their workers enough of a wage to buy healthcare for themselves or they need to provide it. You do realize it's cheaper when it is purchased for groups...you know...like a company staff. No...you prob don't realize that.

I said he is free to do whatever he wishes and we are free to ruin him for it....how is that? No healthcare or decent jobs and wages?...No patrons...the dude is really stupid in a way...he cries this crap publicly while showing his "give two million pizzas away" commercial. Which by the way...he will write off his taxes...

Those of you that idolize d-bags like Papa Jerk need to get a clue what is really broken in our society...and it's not a $0.14 tax on a damn pizza! It's the greed and idolizing the greed...and that is never going to be fixed as long as there is some idiot that worships the money.

Set the minimum wage to $15 per hour, to match Australia. This would solve several problems. Then everyone would be paying Federal Income Tax, which would make Republicans very happy. It would also reduce cost of the Earned Income Tax Credit, which would help the deficit. It would reduce Medicaid payments, which should further delight Republicans. Just think how happy Papa John would be.

Why on earth does this man owe anything to anyone. He worked hard, took all the risks, and earned his money. It's not yours or any Liberal's or Democrat's to take.

He has the right to shut his business down if he wants to. It is his company and his money. Not yours.

You liberals are destroying initiative and the drive to be successful. Pure insanity.

These are very sad times we are witnessing.

Liberals are completely off the wall brain washed.

The US is responsible for all the great things that have happened in the world and the great rise in the standards of living for everyone. Even the poor.

You liberals will spread misery to everyone.

Socialism and communism does not work. Neither does crony capitalism.

RINOs and Liberals are doing everything they can to bring the US to it's knees.

I shudder to think of what things will be like should you keep getting your way.

No one is entitled to anything but freedom.

Well said Wrabbit2000,
We all have the chance to be succesfull if we work at it. To say that "They" could and "We" cannot is the same
as saying we are inferior to "Them".

I can't recall the last time I read anything that was so utterly false that it's offensive. Who's brainwashed? I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch it, who was it again?

Everyone in here bitching about "rich" people need to get a grip. I could care less how much someone makes and I sure as hell know that "rich" people don't pass laws. They can try to buy influence at a price but the buck stops with the politicians ... fact.

No time in history prior to the last 120 years has the standard of living of man kind gone up so much.

Where else on earth had the freedoms the US used to have that are under an all out Marxist assault presently?

The existence of the US, capitalism, and freedom are the cause. You liberals are the opposite.

People flocked to the US to get away from oppression. Now the US is being oppressed. SAD!

Do your liberal selves a favor and read I Pencil. And while your at it, The Law, by Frédéric Bastiat. Open your brainwashed minds up and you might actually learn something.

I'm not brainwashed, and don't appreciate being labeled as a liberal because my thoughts and opinions are actually my own. Liberal or Conservative are just words to me and don't define who I am or what I believe.

I think I get you're point and I disagree with the supposition of a Marxist assault. Honestly, though your sentence structure is really poor and I am having trouble gleaning much of anything from it, other than you are mad at communists and liberals.... and I'm not sure you fully understand what either are.

They don't just pass them, they write them. In many cases politicians or political appointees come directly from and/or return to companies for which they wrote and passed laws (www.washingtonpost.com... ). To think that you can divorce incentive from action is to underestimate man's ability to justify his actions. To fix an incentives issue by replacing those taking advantage, without modifying the incentives, is unlikely to succeed for any length of time.

The answer is simple, don't buy Papa John's pizza. Try a local pizza shop instead.

Are you saying the greed is not a word? Shall I post the definition for you? Are you denying it exists?
