Killerapps

As Israeli ground forces literally stand on the brink of invading Gaza, they are likely being aided by the world's first operational unmanned ground vehicle, the Guardium, which is already prowling the border between Israel and Gaza.

The Guardium is an unmanned fully operational armored car . It can carry > 660 pounds of weight . It is basically an armored version of the U.S.-made Tomcar desert buggies

the Guardiums are being used in a similar manner as UAVs, running patrols by themselves and using their sensors, equipped with "auto-target acquisition," to look for the enemy and their weapons and...well, we'll see. The IDF says the little robo-cars can "use various forceful methods to eliminate" threats.

It has many sensors , including video and thermal cameras with auto-target acquisition, sensitive microphones, powerful loudspeakers and a two way radio . It has top speed of upto 50 miles per hour .

Equipped with 360 degree cameras, the Guardium is conserving IDF soldier's lives.

Whats Next for the future ? A Fully operational armored soldier with Artificial Intelligence ?

Maybe Gaza should request some tech help from Iran. Take the buggies over and send them back with guns blazing. If you could capture one, rip out the RC and have it tethered by cable it could be a useful little machine gun nest.

It is RC so a Faraday net may halt it in its tracks. A hole in the ground will stop it as will blocking it in until it runs its battery down. Catching a hook on it and lifting it up in the air would work.

Any other ideas. ATS is widely read.

Pretty sure anybody who plants a roadside IED will toast that thing real quick. Ok invention stupid to use without heavy support of ground troops. Better used as a mule. I'm no genius but even I can think of simple ways if defeating this thing.

Yes much better to have soldiers inside so when the IED goes off they die too. Why are people unable to use logic?

I enjoy to bash Israel due to their inhumane actions

but they know about military stuff, sure they get help from Europe and the US, but they are very innovative when it comes to the military...

Even knowing the fact that this vehicle will last no more than 5 minutes , you think its logical to use it in the battle field ?

If, as people have claimed constantly for the past week, the fighters in Gaza only have home made candles (an actual quote), fireworks and toy rockets why will this only last five minutes?

It kinda looks like ED-209 with wheels, so some stairs should do the trick.

It would be great if the Palestinians could build RoboInsurgents to fight the Israeli RoboCars and then have the entire conflict fought with machines. The military industrial complex would still reap its profits but no human lives would be lost. Ah, paradise.

Show me where the vehicle is destroyed in 5 minutes. Until then, you have no point. If it IS destroyed, it is an unmanned vehicle where previously actual people would be there, saving the lives of soldiers, so you still have no point. You are clearly anti-Israel and this has blinded you.

Let the Israel deploy the vehicle in GAZA and it will be destroyed in < 5mins . It is meaningless to invest money in such toys . Its not cost effective + ineffective in such Hostile Territory .
