As you all know when a nuclear weopon denates it sends out

Electromagnetic pulses better known as EMP. EMP melts electrical

apllainces among other annomolies. So lets say the russians launch a

nuclear missle or two at the cheyane mountain base. The base is ment to

withstand nuclear explosion but won't the EMP waves disable the

eletronics in the base?

I don't think it was actually meant to withstand a direct nuclear hit, but you bring up an excellent point. I would hope that the mountain is thick enough to block EMP. If not, at least it's good to keep out unauthorized personnel.

If you live there, take the tour. Every few minutes turn to someone in the tour group and go "Da Comrade", or maybe scream "ALLAH AKHBAR!!!".

I would think that all major military operations would have EMP shielding in the important stuff.

Here's an old thread that discusses the options.

The military uses redundant EMP resistant chips (note Not EMP Proof)
and they use them in a redundant configuration so that should one fail
another will take it's place with little more than a hiccup. Also I believe that
the military has since the early 50's been building underground bases with a ground screen around the tunnels and caverns inside, this effectively dissapates and RF EMP and so on, a ground screen of this type would be more commonly referred to as a faraday cage which again blocks not all but a very large percentage of EMP.

I think they would have to retract any antennas they have to protect from EMPs as well from the shock wave.

and the second answer is no. You figure out why. Can you say Lead lined?
