I'm not quite sure why intelligent life would feel the need to put a replica of a modern day door on Mercury, like so is shown, so I'm going to say that it is more than likely some sort of image error of sorts.

Wolfenz, Buzz Aldrin has made it absolutely clear in numerous interviews that he believes the Phobos monolith is a curious natural formation and in no way believes it is an artificial structure.

Have you watched the complete C-SPAN interview and heard the comment in context?

Buzz is saying that when some people learn of it they are going to think of Arthur C. Clark's E.T. monolith in 2001.

He is just trying to generate enthusiasm for space exploration.

The fact it seems to resemble a rectangular monument could be due to simulacra. This is where humans see familar images in random surroundings such as the famous 'Face of Mars', which is actually just a hilly and cratered area.

This is a great example why so many academics refuse to publicly comment on the topic of extraterrestrial life.

Buzz comments that there is a curious rock on Phobos that will raise some eyebrows and the "I wanna believe" crowd turns it into "BUZZ ALDRIN: ALIEN CREATURES BUILT PHOBOS MONOLITH"

Which Earth are you on?
I've seen plenty that do.

My understanding is that there is only one Earth. Why do you ask, do you want to visit? Did you miss my "rule of thumb" statement or are you just looking for a argument?

If its a natural formation then it still merits study. Its still a rectangle 3.5km by 5km located in a sea of fire. I dont know about you but i find that astonishing to say the least.

Mercury is so close to the Sun,
if you would stay there it maybe would be a good idea to stay inside the rock
this could be an opening

or some electronic black monolith that need to be close to the rays of the sun

it is indeed worth a satellite at the least
