I figured as much.

So why make it out to look like it will only be the next 4 years?

4 more years of being told I hate poor people

4 more years of being told I hate Hispanics
4 more years of being told I hate Gays
4 more years of being told I hate the middle class
4 more years of being told how evil corporations are
4 more years of being told how evil banks are
4 more years of the mass media ignoring everything inherently wrong with the current administration
4 more years of how the GOP is obstructionist.
4 more years of tax the rich
4 more years of the liberal superiority complex from a party that claims everyone is "equal"
4 more years of "like how totally awesome Obama and the Democrats are".
4 more years of Blame Bush which makes Bush the longest serving Potus in US history.

The united states of dysfunction is also what this country is.

Blah blah Blah

You're not alone. I always vote against neoconservatives (which means I sometimes vote Dem, other times Rep or 3rd party), but I get it the opposite way. If I vote Dem, then I am a Socialist proponent of terrorist attacks against my own nation who is a bloodthirsty baby killer, hell-bent on eliminating all private enterprise.

The thing is, "left or right", the ingorant tend to think anyone who supports "the other side" is automatically a supporter of all of the most extreme positions/actions of their chosen side. Those people, obviously, unless you're Karl Rove or George Soros, are simply wrong.

I believe in small government, who doesn't interfere with private choice (examples gay marriage, abortion, gun ownership, etc.) right off the bat, with those few things, beither major party platform can be assigned to me either way. People who feel as though the extreme positions automatically apply to citizens on either side are, for lack of a better term, stark raving mad idiots.

Neo, you know I respect and like you as a person - so please take this as constructive....

We have a lot of work to do in this nation to get ourselves out of a hole that is 30 years, or more, deep. Do you want to be part of the solution? Are you willing to to compromise and do what's best for all - even if that means having to accept some things that don't exactly match up with your personal views?

Or are you going to just stay bitter and see it all crash and burn, just so you can say "I told you so?"

I'm willing to find the middle ground to do what's best for everyone, the wealthy and corporations included. Are you willing to include the disenfranchised and poor in your vision of a perfect America?

This game is no longer about who wins - it's getting to a point where we all win or we all lose.

~Heff

You sound like a socialist bleeding heart liberal when you say you need to compromise your individual values for what's best for this country... and you say it like thats the only solution we have...
what about the views handed down to us by the constitution, the document that says we are all free individuals that live with the consequences of our actions? Who the he11 are you to say that you know what IS best for the wealthy and corporations? We don't all win or lose here... that kind of collectivist mentality is going to be unfair to a lot of people. Your falling right into step with Obamas plans, and that kind of future should scare anyone smart enough to know where we are headed.

Bring it.

That is all I have to say to that ideology. They say whatever they want, but it all boils down to does it break The Common Law?

If so, then yes, we are in trouble.

S&F for you bub.

Now "using that extremely large brain of yours"

What does Fox News have to do with what I said?

Absolutely nothing.

Come on...follow the path
So you got right wing commentators winging out the bad news about the economy, the anti-obama stuff is rampant..the end is nigh...
aka, the stuff your thread is about
Then they profit from this doom with high yeilds on corporate investments that bank on the doom/gloom outlook. the gold, the guns, etc...things of percieved worth.

Its a big scam from my point of view..and fox news (and the like) are simply marketers for special interests.

shesh..conspiracy website, start seeing things for more than simple face value already. look behind the curtain to see what is making the big OZ tick.

From Adam Smith's 'Wealth of Nations', considered the bible of capitalism and free market theory:

"The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government, as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities; that is, in proportion to the revenue which they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state. The expense of government to the individuals of a great nation is like the expense of management to the joint tenants of a great estate, who are all obliged to contribute in proportion to their respective interests in the estate. In the observation or neglect of this maxim consists what is called the equality or inequality of taxation."

"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. A tax upon house-rents, therefore, would in general fall heaviest upon the rich; and in this sort of inequality there would not, perhaps, be anything very unreasonable. It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

What I find intriging is that the position of the father of capitalism sounds strangely similar to that of Karl Marx,
"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs".

Compromise works both ways that kind of rhetoric we all know is not part of the solution.

Maybe it's time to clear this up??? The right wing seems conflicted at best, grossly dishonest at worst on the virtue of "compromise".

See.... the TP wave of 2010 representitives and the party base that elected them haven't been vague about thier goals or percieved mandate....Barack "Hussien" Obama was socialist from Kenya, a Manchurian candidate hell bent on the destruction of America and it was the patriotic duty of those TPers sent to Washington to create GRIDLOCK...to be OBSTRUCTIONISTS...they OWNED it proudly and LOUDLY...shall I provide a rambling list of qoutes to support that truth? Thier base shouted down any GOP that even remotely suggested "Compromise"..."Compromise" became a dirty word. Those Republicans who dared remind the TP Caucus that it was neccessity for a Democracy were promptly labled as RINOs and driven from the party.

It was not subtle...it was not whispered...it was shouted at every Opportunity...GRIDLOCK!! Stop the socialist slide or the Nazi's will knock on your door soon.

Fast forward 2 years and we get...."Hey...well...compromise is a two way street and Dems aren't compromising"

What???? Were you not alive just 24 months ago?

Most days I write it off to Republican's penchant for re-writing history or prioritizing feelings over reality and facts....but it still confuses me all the same.

Gridlock was the goal...gridlock is what they got...and they now bemoan that the gridlock is the other guys doing.

Really all I have to do is look out side my front door at foreclosed signs, out of business signs.

Right winger commentators eh that's rich unlike some who buy everything the current government and it's cheerleaders say.

If by meaning the Republicans are guilty of not getting on their knees for left yeah guilty as charged.

To re-itterate compromise works both ways did not see compromise in the care act, and there is no compromise in taxing the rich.

Tax the rich no matter what

what the left wants the left wants no matter what.

You followed fringe idealogues and thier propaganda down the rabbit hole and like Alice, things have turned from interesting to scary...and at some point forgot that the real world continues to exist outside the rabbit hole. Now when the light of the real world occassionally flickers down the rabbit hole you stare in shock....Like Karl Rove and others on election eve.

Of course none of it makes sense...of course it is terrifying...The apocalypse of "our freedoms"...when viewed from the dark of the rabbit hole.

Reality disconnect remains the biggest challenge of the republican party. Once honesty and reality return to to republicans everything else will solve itself.

If anyone wonders what 4 more years under Obama will look like just check out California - the most highly taxed, highly regulated state in the nation where public sector unions have the most power. They have the highest paid teachers and worst schools, best retirement packages for public workers and the highest debt.
Businesses are fleeing California at the rate of 5 per day to escape the taxation and over-(green) regulation. Our entire country is going to resemble the mess that California is.

Rabbit hole...The affordable care act was debated how long? almost 2 years? The bill was stuffed to the brim with GOP amendments...so many...so much outright raw compromise that the Dems gave them that the GOP was forced to actually vote down many of thier OWN amendments as they constantly tried to hold the "hell no" ground amidst a compromising President.

The irony is that the bill was as large as it was in no small part to amendments the GOP demanded. And many of the complexities and convolutions of the bill were results of GOP demands.

What happened to single payer BTW?

Rabbit hole...

There's no difference between the democrats, and the republicans. They both lie their asses off to get votes. After elections are over it's business as usual no matter who wins. The national debt keeps going up.

Not a single Gop member of the house voted for the care act.

We can talk about the fringe wing all you want as in the fringe wing running this country in to the ground and plays the racist card, sexist card, homophobe care, fox news card, how awesome the Democrats are card, how the Democrats are never wrong about anything whatsoever card all day long.

4 more years of being told I have to pay a little more so others with less can get a little more.
4 more years of being asked to help those with less because the government just can't handle the costs.
4 more years of being told the election wasn't fixed and that the majority are thinking the wrong things.
4 more years of accepting that I'll be getting less because others got too much for a long time.
4 more years of wtahcing the very rich get richer while everybody else gets poorer. Except the very poor who keep being maintained.
4 more years of living within my means while watching those with less live beyond theirs and have no accountability for it.
4 more years of not getiing bailed out while the big money interests do..
4 more years of voting only to have another election decided before you even cast your vote.
4 more years of both parties working for the same puppet masters deciding to work together to screw every american citizen.
4 more years of letting illegals come in and lower everybodys standards of living.
4 more years of being called a racist because I think Obama is a fraud and an empty suit. Well so was Bush. How come that isn't being racist?
4 more years of watching the culture and society decay.
4 more years of Obama being defended by those saying" Well, Bush did the same thing." You think Bush sucked, why not Obama? THEY'RE PRACTICALLY TWINS!
4 more years of boobus america just stumbling around blind and ignorant to it all.

Compromise is a reasonably regulated market for health, safety and environment with a social OPTION for necessities.

My internet experience shows we are heavily divided as a nation. I see a little bit of this in public, but people are more careful. I hope we can work it out.

We're animals dealing with our primal urges and our training. We need to understand how and why we manipulate and are manipulated. We should try to see homo sapiens for what we really are and how we naturally develop. This should clear up a few things and allow us to evolve as a society.
