This is a perfect example of a brainwashed moron.

First, Obama has repeatedly stated that he does NOT want to increase taxes on the first $250,000 made no matter how much you make.

Second, If your taxes were going up 30-38% as you claim, you do not add the old percentage to this percentage increase to figure the new tax. You multiply the old tax rate by 1.3 or 1.38 to show the new rate. This would not be 50%. I can guarantee that.

Third, your employer has nothing to base his/her claim on. ONLY if an agreement is not reached about taxes, will they go up on everyone. This leaves the possibilty of an agreement being reached (which will happen) by congress (NOT Obama).

Fourth, If an agreement is not reached and taxes go up, then it is not Obama you have to blame but the morons in congress.

I voted for Ron Paul. I wrote him in because I believe he was the best candidate. I did not let the media make my decision by tricking me into thinking only two candidates "had a chance" or were in it. I did not blindly vote for a party as I am sure you did. "Anybody but Obama" "Gotta vote for the R" These are extremely stupid statements. We need to get rid of parties and let ALL candidates in the debates. The debates should be open and NOT SCRIPTED.

You say you pay 18% now? OK. IF it went up by 38% (the max it is supposedly going up), then 18 x 1.38 = 24.84. So you would pay 24.84% NOT i repeat NOT 50% as you claim. 24.84% seems a LOT more reasonable than the false 50% you claim. And as I posted above the increase will only happen if congress doesn't come to an agreement on tax cuts/increases etc. by the end of the year.

Again since this was overlooked on the other page could we see a copy of your pay stub please? Then i'll be willing to take you a bit more seriously, otherwise this is just another troll thread by an angry republican.

I don't think people really understand what 'percentage' they actually get taken out of their check, that's why I asked him for a pay stub copy. Yet to see it or get a response.

I have never had a salary job, but I guess the number of hours worked varies depending on the company. The place I work employs about 200 people, and I would be willing to bet those in management work maybe half the week. We get a daily email that let's everyone know who is out for the day and this list always has salaried people on it. So I have to disagree with you here, maybe it's that way in a larger place, but in my company all I see are people claiming superiority with their position while letting their hourly paid underlings do all that work ( but getting none of the credit ) that makes the company go

I'm sure there are companies out there where that occurs, but that is hardly the norm. I am in a "right to work" state so maybe the lack of unions has something to do with it, but I know many people who are successful, and short work days are not the usual. A few years ago when I worked in retail, my boss would put in 60-80 hour work weeks, and still lose his end of the year bonus, all while being paid the same amount if he had worked only 40 hours. I worked at one of the larger stores in the country.

From what I have seen in retail it is very hard for an executive to be lazy, it is profit based job and if store sales goals are not met, said executive is usually fired. If someone can acomplish this and be lazy they are quite the executive and actually should be paid more.

Well it will have to wait until he gets off shift Im sure. But my question is why would he have to show you anything? Didn’t read like he was trying to convince the world about how much money he makes, rather more along the lines of “Ranting” about our coming tax increase, whatever percent it may be. I am curious though, why would it be so important to convince YOU of all people he’s telling the truth.
I don’t follow either political party, they are both crap, but did you ask the POTUS to see his private records when he made certain claims? Of course not, because you’re following the other sheep to the land of paradise and marshmallows.. In fact, why don’t you show us your pay stub and prove to us you’re your active participation in the job market.. and that you are a authority in this matter. How about that?

Here is a snapshot of a section of my last paystub, and I can vouch that he makes considerably more than me.



And if I am not mistaken, dont think the OP follows the a specific party either.. but we will let him confirm that. Those texans are pretty serious about their politics though.

Addition+++ one thing I would like to add, as far as supervisors go, he has been one of the most fair and trustworthy that I’ve ever worked for, even for a texan. Even if any of the information posted proves to be a little off, I would bet my last red cent it wasn’t done with the intention of deceiving anyone.. After reading through the posts in this thread I feel compelled to add that in my opinion, laying the blame for the wasteful use of our tax dollars on "welfare" recipients is not based on a careful look at what and where and who this money is being spent on. Nationally the monies being spent is about 3% of the budget. This includes all cash aid, educational, child care, food stamps and housing subsidies. A majority of states cap this aid at 60 months total for your lifetime unless there are mitigated circumstances. A large majority of recipients are what they call child only aid, which helps a single mother or father who is gainfully employed offset the costs of child care and medical care for the child if the other parent has been found delinquent in paying a child support order. In this case the amount of total aid is tallied and the missing parent, when found is charged 10% interest per month on the total amount, which then gets paid back through tax and wage garnishment, until the entire amount paid to child is paid off. That is interest on interest, not only interest on the original amount but interest on the entire balance owed.

Just my 2 cents.

So you made about 108k, didn't pay any state taxes, and only paying 14k in federal. Hmmmm I don't see a problem there actually your making out quite well at this point. So were you trying to disprove me or prove me? Since clearly this shows your being taxed the correct amount,

Think about what would happen if all the poor people had all their welfare taken away from them. Crime rates would go up for sure since people will be desperate to get the things they need. Then, if they end up in jail, your taxes are still paying for them. Their children would be put into foster care and government money pays for that too. Giving the poor a little help every month is the safest route to go. And f.y.i. back in 95 or so, there was a welfare reform that put a limit on how long people can get a welfare check to 5 years maximum in their lifetime. Bottom line, if I made a decent amount of money, I would have no problem with them taking a little more out of my income.

Yes I do pay state tax and a foreign tax, because I am an expat the corp does not automatically deduct it from my check, these taxes are up to me to file separate. The only thing I dont pay into is Social Security because I am working overseas.

and, I haven’t stated a beef with current taxes, or any taxes at all… in fact I think the general gist of the thread is “coming” tax increases, not what we currently pay. Yes no?

You're forgetting the debasement of the currency through rampant money printing and debt increases. Which further destroys purchasing power. So your heroes in the federal government are hitting the working people from both sides, by unconstitutionally taxing their income and destroying the purchasing power of the money that they are "allowed" to keep.
