I just wanted to say thank you to the other 50% of Americans who support and re-elected our most Nobel and Honorable Leader, Mr. Barrack Obama. Today I have officially been notified by my employer to expect a 30-38% tax increase this coming year. That brings the total amount of taxes I pay to just at 50% of my monthly income. So, I wanted to express my appreciation to you personally for your liberalism and humanitarian views of spread the wealth.

You have helped elect a fraudulent, socialist thief.. Enjoy your free health care, welfare checks, free cell phones because millions are now having to work twice as hard to keep from loosing their jobs, houses and vehicles to pay for yours!

On a closing note, I have officially removed “Old Glory”, which I have proudly flown my entire life. Call me what you will but I have served, fought and endured the loss friends and family for this country and what she stood for. What have you done? Recently I have seen the last shred of its morals and values cast aside for what? I am ashamed to be grouped in with "those" so called Americans who would allow anyone like this guy to be in office.

So again, thanks for stealing money from my family and giving it to people who are too lazy to earn it!!

Um, OK. So exactly which taxes were you officially notified were being raised 30-38%? Also how was this "official" notification presented?

Thats the problem with americans. Always looking for someone to blame. The country has gone to hell not because of one party or one person. It's gone to hell because americans dont stand up and march in the streets over the destruction of the constitution. THey sit at home and admire the cool things they have and listen to media which convinces them they need more junk.

JB!!?? "That brings the total amount of taxes I pay to just at 50% of my monthly income." That rate is pretty rich even by a scary liberal's standard. Where did you come up with that??

Question: Was this "notification" a verbal one by a conservative employer?

Most people would peg me as conservative leaning, so I'm not playing party lines. I'm just a little miffed how an official notice stating an extra 30% of wages are going out the window aren't going to draw more attention.

Here is the issue that confused me. The federal government's tax has never been more than 25% for the tax bracket you are in and for most people it's 5-15%.

Not sure of the exact numbers yet.. the "official" briefing will be within the next few weeks, but my supervisor is saying we (all of us making above 105k) are expected to receive at least a 30-38% federal tax increase. It was an informal "Breaking the News" departmental meeting so that we have time to calm down before the corporate meeting.

30-38% increase of the taxes is an increase of your taxes being paid though, not your total wage.

What's your current tax rate?

ie.

If someone is making 100k a year, paying 25% and their tax increase is 30% they will only be paying an extra 7.5% more taxes on their total wage.

From this source here. I have you in the upper six percent.

Which puts your federal tax rate somewhere near 18%. Which means a 30% increase is about 4-5% of your wages.

The tax increase is based on yearly income, and yes, if you work for a living its going to affect you too! Those of you who receiving welfare or still live with mommy will not see or feel it though. At my income level (105k-250k) the tax levels are estimated to increase 30-38%, and it not my employer isn’t raising the “federal” taxes. Everyone in my career field or income level is going to be getting the same increase.

while I dislike Obama as much as anyone who isn't a sheeple.....you seriously think you can blame this all on Obama? REALLY?

Who went to war with Iraq?
Who went to war with Afghanistan?
Who signed the patriot act the first time?
Who started this liberal police state crap?
Who was the first president to ever bring the national debt to a level obviously unpayable, to the double digits of TRILLIONS?

Who lined his vice president's pockets with money from bull# wars through Halliburton?

BUSH. A #ING REPUBLICAN. ARE YOU SERIOUS?

And that's pretty much what I have to say to you republicans.

I voted libertarian.

And don't take your beef with Obama out on old glory. There's a difference between loving your country and loving the illegitimate government

A "tax increase" is just that. A increase of tax percentage, not taxes against wages earned.

So you will be paying an extra 400/month this tax season.

Oh wait..

Your employer isn't raising federal taxes?

So why the hell is this thread about Obama??

The other thing to consider, is that if you are on the border of a tax bracket, there are perfectly legal ways of reducing your tax burden (like giving to charity) which is probably better spent anyway.

OP I do feel sorry for you I really do, but it is the responsibility of the rich to take some of the burden of this recession. Your national deficit is in the Trillions and as you can understand that is unsustainable, your country needs to cut spending and increase tax revenue to even have a chance of breaking even. Being realativly well off means that you are much better prepared to help reduce this burden than most, which is why you are experiencing a tax hike. You qualms with the poor and needy of society are a little selfish to say the least, its no picnic being poor and they should be protected. The poor have nothing to give but I bet the majority of those poor are genuinely poor out of circumstance rather than fault and to blame them is pretty low in my humble opinion.

P.S. Tax rates approaching 50% are quite normal in Europe.

There are too many replies of “it cant be so… why blame obama” to respond to each one, but it is so. I didn’t hear this from a friend of a friend who voted republican… we were given this information by our supervisors as a “Friendly Heads-Up” before our upcoming corporate “drop the bomb” meeting.

Right now I pay a flat 18% tax on my monthly gross, for what ever reason, who ever made the call… to pay for obama’s health care bill my federal income taxes are expected to go up between 30 and 35%... not up too 35%... up BY 35% which is actually a 53% tax on our gross income. And that with my employer picking up the rising insurance premiums. If I made 50k or below I am sure the amount would be much less. No matter how you spin it, that’s what is happening to us right now.

And no my supervisor isn’t politically bias, he is not even American. He thinks obummer hung the moon.

When it turns out you were wrong based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how math is applied in this word problem, are you going to return and apologize, or simply pretend this rant never happened?
