If you answered no to any of these,

The Truth is not in you,

You put conditions on Truth. If Jesus is the Truth, as you say, then what are these other conditions?

Do you believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

The study of ancient Semitic polytheism is very fascinating. I can only hope that the period of time I may have to study is not cut short by some present Zionist attempt at ethnic cleansing of Palestine, in order to manufacture some modern Jewish state.

Do you believe in the Holy Scriptures?

Exactly what writings are holy? What would holy even mean when applied to writings? Have another look at the verses from John you quoted.

John 4:22 "You worship what you do not know;" The Samaritans had a perfectly good version of the so-called books of Moses, purporting to explain and define the person to be worshipped. Yet the Samaritans were ignorant. When Jesus said "We know what we worship" did he mean that all Jews know the Father? That would certainly contradict what is written in Chapter 8.

If you believe that Jesus who is the truth of salvation has come out from the Jews, "for salvation is out of the Jews", then why, as if you didn't believe, are you looking to a Jewish state for salvation? Didn't Jesus say "you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father"?

Why should you think that something happening in a particular geographic area has anything to do with the proper worship of the Father?

You may have backslidden into the Old Covenant. That seems to be likely.

Remember, the Law came through Moses (Torah). But grace and truth came through Jesus.

The "eternal sleep" is as much a myth as a bearded man in the clouds that watches everything people do. It's another "comfort blanket" set up by others as a way to feel superior to people like the OP.

Myth vs myth.

Claiming no one knows any truth whatsoever is the same thing as claiming "I know everything." It's why arguments like this whole thread keep happening, but I admit without them I wouldn't have anything to chuckle at on this site. We all know something, even if it's small. The truth is a puzzle; the truth is subjective; the truth is an elephant to blind men.

In the battle of extremes, no one wakes up until they take a step back and realize it's one side of the coin arguing with the other side, where the whole argument for both sides is, "Only my side exists, you are a dirty/stupid sinner/idiot so come to my side because I know and you don't." And yet, there they are, acknowledging each others' existence. See how silly that is?

Relevant video on how theists and atheists view the world:

The atheist simply adapted the theist view: kept the laws but got rid of the "lawmaker" because a lawmaker is not needed to understand these laws.

You are correct (in another post) in that all things come from "God," good and evil that is (which are entirely our concepts, as are morals). It's simply the nature of the universe though: you cannot have Yin without Yang; you cannot have a back without a front. Christians pin "evil" on the mythical creature of "Satan" even though everything comes from the same place.

Turn to Jesus the Christ of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God!

I am not saying this as an attack on your beliefs, I am humbly asking a question maybe you can help provide me an answer. You seem well versed in scripture.

In the book of Job God basically holds a board meeting with all of the Arch Angels. After "God" and "Satan" have a discussion, it is decided that Satan will test Job. Satan is used to test Jobs righteousness. Satan also tests Jesus.

Wouldn't this mean Satan is in fact doing Gods work in a way? How can we prove righteousness, or even "know" what righteous is without the opposite?

In my opinion this is why a "dualistic" interpretation of the bible doesn't make sense. "Evil" exists so we have a choice between something. Yea the garden was beautiful.. but we would never have a choice of anything. How could we evolve spiritually in a situation like that?

It would be a very beautiful prison we could never escape/evolve out of.

Again I am not trying to attack your beliefs.

Just curious on how you view these things.. If possible can you talk about it and just not quote scripture?

Scripture is all interpretation really, so my view may be different then yours etc.

We all know something, even if it's small. The truth is a puzzle; the truth is subjective;

This has been said at many times, in many ways.

Jesus says:

"Whoever knows all, if he is lacking one thing, he is (already) lacking everything."
Gospel of Thomas 67

I really liked the Alan Watts video you embedded, I think I'll bookmark that. I think I should look into what he has to say a bit. I've heard of him but don't think that I've read much of him.

I especially like that we are part of the process, and not the end result. That's what I understand as being in God, if there is to be any meaning in that phrase at all.

Thank you.

13. Genesis 15:9
The Lord answered, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a she-goat, three years old, a ram three years old, a turtle dove and a young pigeon.”

4. Deut. 23:1
No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose organ has been cut off may become a member of the Assembly of God.

3. Leviticus 24:16
Whoever utters the name of the Lord must be put to death. The whole community must stone him, whether alien or native. If he utters the name, he must be put to death.

2. Exodus 4:24
And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, “Surely a bloody husband art thou to me”.

8. Mark 14:51
A young man was following Jesus, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him. But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked.

7. Genesis 38:9
Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.

6. Ezekiel 16:17
You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.

1. Ezekiel 23:19
Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she engaged in prostitution in the land of Egypt. She lusted after their genitals – as large as those of donkeys, and their seminal emission was as strong as that of stallions.

15. Numbers 31:32
These were the spoils which remained of the plunder taken by the fighting men: 675,000 sheep, 72,000 cattle, 61,000 donkeys, and as for persons, 32,000 young women who had had no intercourse with a man.

14. Genesis 16:8
And he said “Hagar, Sarai’s slave girl, where have you come from and where are you going?” She answered, “I’m running away from Sarai, my mistress.” The angel of the Lord said to her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to ill treatment at her hands.”

I have nothing to repent. I also believe there are millions of others that don't need to either, just based on their lifestyle.

- I don't care about money or things like that but rather value love and the betterness of others equally as my own.
- I serve to help others without thinking about it, nor do I look for self-gratification when doing it. In other words I do things selflessly.
- I don't jump to conclusions, even with this new war, I believe that politicians need to make amends and do what's right for the people and be diplomatic.
- I honor my SO very much, and have protected the sanctity of our love with all my might.
- I have not killed, nor do I intend to.
- I do an excellent job at calming people down and showing reason.
- I do not believe in one religion better than another, we are all humans and here to learn, grow, and experience life.
- I treat my neighbors as brothers and sisters, and I don't treat people as untrustworthy unless there's a valid reason behind it.
- I have donated a considerable amount without tax deducting it, and never took advantage of "the system".
- I don't lie, cheat, or steal.

So before you say I need to repent, know that there are people like me, whom genuinely do good for themselves and others, don't just and are living life happily. If we have to repent for being kind then I refuse to do so for a god that seems rather angry at everyone. I apologize but I cannot accept a god like that. I'm not perfect, and my views on "being good" differs from other people but that's what makes us human. Do what you need to do in life, find yourself a purpose and keep at it. Life seems like it wasn't meant to be enjoyed but if you make it enjoyable then it becomes an even greater thing.

Or you could go outside on the street, befriend someone, help them, pay their bills and encourage them and lead them to Christ, followup on them, disciple them, mentor them and guide them to be able to do the same that way. Or is that too much work for you?

Yelling 'repent' 'repent' is old religious fruitcake stuff. They can't repent if they don't believe in a God in the first place. If God is in you then your the only piece of God they see.

Now do you see the problem?

Do you believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

Do you believe in the Holy Scriptures?

If you answered no to any of these,

The Truth is not in you,
Do you believe that God is someone who is only the god to a select genetic line of humans and that everyone else is His enemy?

Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,

This seems to be saying that the alienation and hostility was on our part, because of sin, not the other way around, which is the idea you get from the story description of the person who was essentially an angel of death.

2 Cor. 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (ESV)

A death angel may get a bit perturbed by the idea of being out of a job, and would have motive to support a religion of exclusivity that would prevent a reconciliation with the Lord.

John 15:25 But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’

Jesus detaches himself from scripture as to its ownership, saying "their", in the third person, rather than mine, or ours.

I want to come back to this thread when I have more time. Some of the comments have peaked my interest.
I really ought to spend more time in this off-topic section!

OP, when I first came on this forum, I was feeling like doing what you are doing, and I know I was way more outspoken than I am now. I learned I didn't know half of what I thought I did, but my heart was in the right place, and I think yours is, too.

You are doing what you feel is necessary to warn others from what you see coming. If people would accept that in the spirit given, a simple "Thanks" might suffice.

But, this is a forum with many strong opinions, and good folks of all beliefs, but evangelism doesn't go over well for the most part. In spite of my good intentions, I realized it wasn't one of my strong suits!

My faith is strong as ever, but faith is something so elusive and personal, I don't know how to impart that desire to another person. Like, I don't really know why I even have it, but I know it didn't come through fear or from being preached at.

Actually, a friend of mine had their Bible laying around, and I just started reading it at different times, and one thing led to another....Anyway, that's another story!

I'll try to add more on topic comments tomorrow!

I enjoyed your entire post but chose to quote just a small part.

You are doing what you feel is necessary to warn others from what you see coming. If people would accept that in the spirit given, a simple "Thanks" might suffice.

Nice perspective to help me remember.

Often times I feel "judged" by certain phrases, or how things can be worded/interpreted. More often then not, those feelings are within me, not in the "words" them self, or the person saying them.

I do believe sometimes one could "word" things differently in an effort to appear less "judgmental" towards another one.. but excellent point you have there,

The "problem" is the "people" see something coming that I do not see coming, so at the start we both have conflicting perspectives.

I am not worried one bit about a coming judgement
I have had NDE's, spiritual experiences, that have proven something to me that exists within. I have also spent 30's on this planet judging myself more than enough for me and God.

Finally learning to love and respect my "self", I mastered loving others as myself at a young age. That seemed natural, it was the self love that was hardest for me.

I look forward to any further comments you may have.

Well, thanks! I wish I had something else of importance to add to this thread, but I have gotten side-tracked, as usual!
But I am reminded to spend more time on these topics, because there are some excellent members here who always give me pause to think.

That's really where I am at now, personally. Questioning things I have been led to believe.
Hopefully we all do that from time to time.

Peace.

Good words thanks for the long forgotten message. People need to take this seriously.
I like how you put the Trinity in your heart, many don't, and many are not devoted, because you cannot know God withouth the Holy Spirit, for it is the Spirit which touches your heart when reading the Word of God.

Peace be always with you, beloved brother

When I saw the subject title in the thread list, I thought it was someone mocking obsessively evangelical (the preaching, not the branch of Protestantism) priests.

Turns out you literally are one of those "fire and brimstone" preachers.

..not something you see anymore

You certainly are not going to be the least bit effective here, but carry on!
