I was all ready to jump on the conspiracy bandwagon, and say "Those evil retailers manipulated Thanksgiving to open up an extra week of holiday spending!"

Then I read this:

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November.
en.wikipedia.org...(United_States)

This year, November has 5 Thursdays!

Go figure, no conspiracy!

In the USA it's on the fourth Thursday in November, and has been since 1942. (It was made uniform across all states by Federal Law late 1941.)

The 4th Thursday this year just happens to be Nov. 22, 2012. It feels to me it should be the following week too.

Well...try to enjoy yourself anyway...I hope all your plans work out for you...even if they do need to be rearranged.

Gobble, gobble, gobble...I do love a good traditional Thanksgiving meal!

I don't know why they didn't just make a date and stick with it. I can get Easter always being on a Sunday, because of the religion thing, but there's nothing special about Thursday.

For some reason I thought Thanksgiving was on the 24th.
