Always amazes me how quickly we discover new things that can help us...

Scientists at Rice University in Texas have discovered a new super polymer material that is able to stop bullets in their tracks, and seal the hole behind them.

Polyurethanum, a complex multiblock co-polymer, is a synthetic compound created in the lab.
It could be used for new bulletproof vests, aircraft skin - infact any application where danger of high-speed impacts is something to plan for......

I wonder what the weight is...obviously it must be lighter than steel...

Funny how it says they're not even sure how it really works...all the best inventions were accidents

A few layers of kevlar can also stop a speeding bullet.
