New developments on the escalating conflict in between Israel and Hamas...

Anonymous Hackers Hit Israel

In a series of attacks it’s calling “OpIsrael,” Anonymous went on a spree of website defacement and takedown attacks Thursday, calling on members to flood forty sites with junk web traffic designed to knock them offline and defacing websites including the privacy firm Israeli Security Academy and a blog the group described as belonging to the Israeli Defense Forces. “We Anonymous will not sit back and watch a cowardly Zionist State demolish innocent people’s lives.” reads one message posted to a defaced site, along with an image of smoke rising over what appears to be a Palestinian city.

The question that immediately pops into mind is why Anonymous... if this is truly THE Anonymous... is getting involved in this conflict? Usually, Anonymous has been siding with the common man against megacorporations and governments who are attempting to overwhelm their populations.

This is the first time I've noticed Anonymous being this overtly political and choosing one nation (Palestine) over another (Israel). I can't help but wonder if this cyber attack is a small Palestian contingent from ANON or an operation conducted by the collective itself.

Things to ponder.

Anonymous is everyone. Anonymous is no one.

It could be Hamas and Hezbollah command and their media wings putting out propaganda or it could be legitimate hacktivists using the name for this operation...or it could be a couple 13yr old kids with nothing better to do than screw with Israel because they figure it's cool and somehow useful.

Personally, I think Anonymous has been right AND wrong so much (and usually wrong) with SO many empty threats, missed deadlines and general bluster that the name itself means about as much now as Al Qaeda. It's a nice umbrella term, but can mean basically anyone doing anything when it comes down to it, IMO.

I've always suspected that ANON was a CIA front, personally.

Nothing like the fear of the unknown for people to give away liberties and all. Besides, makes the perfect cover story for most of the black ops that have taken place recently. Get caught hacking? It was Anonymous!!!!

I think you're probably right and isn't that just the whole thing? I'll bet the CIA and others have used the Anonymous name as freely for their own purposes as anyone 'legitimate' in how we'd think of the guy behind the mask. I guess that's the problem with a truly decentralized movement. When no one is controlling anything, anyone can control any of it.

Still.. I suppose Israel can handle the hack attacks... After the first wave awhile back hit them hard and unaware, I expect they worked pretty hard to fortify everything they have. I suppose the first shot on these things needs to be the big one that matters...

i think anonymous is charlie chaplin risen from the grave to eat the flesh of the living and make smelly noises

i would be surprised if the cia hasnt posed as anonymous but just as the name implies anonymous is just unidentified people it is unorganized and anyone can be anonymous and its silly that people take it as some kind of singular organized group rather than understanding it can be anyone or any number of people doing anything

I agree, however Israel's response to this matter is what remains to be seen. It has always seemed to me that when anonymous gets involved in things it always ramps up around the ever growing arm of those who wish for some type of censorship, and a reason to clamp down on the free flow of information. Since anonymous uses the internet to base it's attacks from, a good way to inhibit their ability would be to broaden the tentacles around the systems used to operate their platform.

IMO this may end up as a reason to or gain traction towards tighter internet restrictions to "help" those in power keep their seats, and being over ruled by the voices of an ever growing consensus amongst the world population.

We want peace...

I wonder what would happen to Isis-Ra-El if they were hit with a FIRE SALE?
