On the flares? They probably illuminated the no mans strip inside the border, blew something up and went quiet again.

IDF won't need flares to "invade", they have night vision equipment for that. They would want to keep any cross border incursions quiet (as possible). Just my guess...

Unless they want the whole world to see it.

Yeah, i hear it. I am trying to figure out what what platform though. No missiles, not arty, not mortars, it sounds like a Naval 5 pounder to me.

I just started hearing some mortar rounds.

For the third time I heard a very distinct sound at a distance in the RT feed.

3 bangs, one second apart. It's the third time I hear it.

Anyone has an idea of what it is? Israel or Hamas side?

Yeah, sounds like naval guns. Hearing Mortars now.

I just heard a 105. Israel shooting unguided ordnance?

A lot of the regular troops aren't proficient with NVGs. Parachute flares give them kind of a nice balance. A "regular" person isn't going to be able to see well by the light of a flare, where a person that has trained under them will have a much better idea of what's happening.

Parachute flares throw really weird shadows that would have an untrained person jumping and shooting at everything in sight. It makes you see movement where there isn't any, and see things that aren't there, because of the way the shadows are thrown around.

There are people near the RT audio feed. One of them was just playing a flute or recorder or something similar. It's kind of surreal with the UAV going overhead.

So they use the cover of night to invade but pop flares so the enemy can see the tanks coming? Besides that flares "wash out" thermal gun sights on tanks.

The guy near the RT feed either opened a beer can, or is loading a weapon... lol

(judging from the sound)

Heard that and then just seconds ago sounded like they were loading a chamber... locked and loaded? That is pretty bad when journalists have to protect their lives.

I wouldn't start one yet. I'm listening pretty intently. You'll know when a ground invasion starts.

Another missile just flew overhead

---

Boom. Had to be BLUE. No sirens.

Where is this camera looking? Into Gaza?

Something to the right of RT feed looked like it exploded. Couldn't see it all. Just the flash from an explosion.

They use them more for dismounted infantry, but yes, they use them with tanks too.
