Israel uses Iron Dome to shot down the Grad-based rockets from Gaza. Whatever Iran might want to launch at Israel is completely different, and would not go up against Iron Dome but something else. Just as there are short/middle/long range missiles, there are different categories on anti-missile defense to deal with them. Iron Dome is not mean to intercept long-range ballistic missiles re-entring the atmosphere at terminal velocity. Last time Israel had to intercept something like that was back in the 90's.

Yeah, that is what missiles usually tend to do. When they work. Israel's and US's missiles work pretty good, but I can't vouch for Iran's.

You are making a lot of assumptions. Iran has had decades to make their own missiles. This situation was forced on them by the US blockade. Now the west has no real idea of what Iran can or can't do.

Hamas is throwing 'missiles' at Israel. This is a joke statement. I would not call them missiles. More like unguided rockets with grenades in them.

One of the primary rules of warfare - know your enemy.

Yes, Israel knows Hamas, they know what most of their neighbors have. They can look the weapon up in Janes world of weapons. I bet they can't look up Iranian weapons as easily.

Hamas wanting isreal gone the iranian support of Hamas and Isreal standing in the way of the Persian empire once more.

The aid of Assad the deals with Iraq, and Egypt the motivation between the Palestine and Isreali conflict is about land and who wants it.

But they never look at the real people behind the scenes seeking their power grab.

Ask the 'occupy movement' how well protests work. Government representatives don't speak for the people anymore. They decide for the people. Protests mean nothing to those in power, just gives the little people some way to make themselves feel like they are making a difference.

Regardless of blame and recrimination, I just want the killing to stop. In my eyes this is such a waste of life, time, and energy. Forgive me if I offend those who truly believe the conflict is worthwhile on either side. It just fills me with sorrow to see human beings killing one another. I hope there will one day be peace.

Who cares if a small minority is protesting. Someone is always protesting something somewhere, just as someone is always offended at something. The people who make the world go around tend to be more pragmatic and care about their business at hand and things they can directly influence.

Everytime Israel does something, or perhaps doesn't do something, someone is going to protest and call it names. Damned if you do, damned if you don't... Hell, if Israel is just there, in existance, someone is going to protest. Does that have any impact of Israel, Israelis, or Palestinians being caught up in this conflict? Nope.

Israel's leadership will go about its business, which is protecting its constituents. The "world" can watch and piss itself in tantalizing agony for all Israel cares.

Have you seen pics of Iran's military machines? They don't exactly instill fear in anyone. In fact, their gunships look like armored jet-skis and their destroyers look like something from WWI. When I think about Iran, the movie 'the dictator' comes to mind
