It is interesting how you suddenly bring in homosexuality into this issue.
You coming out or staying in?
It makes no difference to me.
I would vote for Bigfoot before I would vote for Obama however I did think Romney could help which is more than I can say for Our Dear Lear.

The way I am looking at it is - you get enough people pissed and wanting to secede - the law won't matter to them. That's what happens when people start thinking they don't have anything more to lose, or they are really concerned about their family and the future of this country. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

Where's the great unifier? The guy that was going to blend all of us together? Bring the troops home? Cut the deficit in half in his first term? Have transparency? I mean what part of the BS (and much more) did the people that voted for him a second time didn't understand? God almighty - do you enjoy being lied to?

What is happening is that a lot of people are tired of sharing their stuff with people that didn't earn it, don't plan on earning it, and will never earn it - generation after generation. Here it is in a nut shell - I earned my stuff, I worked hard for my stuff, why should I just give my stuff to someone that is never going earn the right to my stuff, it is my stuff and I am willing to help people but not give them my stuff for nothing in return - like them getting a real life with stuff of their own. This could go on and on until no owns any of their own stuff - spread the wealth theory I guess.

A socialist society has never never worked in the entire history of the world. As a matter of fact many of millions of people have died trying to support the socialism idea and have died trying to make it work. So, if you think this present government is about freedom you are dead wrong. God help us - open your eyes.

I was just floored when I saw how many people from the age of 30 on down voted for the left knowing - yes knowingly (I hope they knew) - that they are the ones that are going to have to pay the most with their lively hood in the very near future - it is almost funny - if I didn't see it with my own eyes.

Seceding isn't a new idea and has been talked about ever since the Federal Government starting dictating their way thru our lives on a everyday bases. Don't kid yourself - this can get ugly - very ugly - that is why there has to be some kind of connection to the UN and this administration - this will make it a lot easier to keep the sheep in America under control.

And as far as the people saying "if you don't like it just leave" - well that would be nice wouldn't it? Ever think that the same people you are asking to leave pay taxes just like you? May have businesses, maybe with employees? Pay property taxes? Pay income taxes? Pay payroll taxes? Pay Obamacare taxes? And you are inviting them to leave - I wonder who would pickup the difference? You and your "get out of here" friends maybe? Be careful what you wish for.

"Pay my bills." "Say the Pledge of Allegiance." Do you even think before you type?

(Rhetorical question; don't answer that.)

Could somebody please decipher that answer for me?
I guess I just don't have the same edjumakation that Bismark does.

I am also curious. Why can this thread continue when another petition thread was 404'd?

This one doesn't link a petition, it is just a discussion about one. It is against TC for some dumb reason to take any action, including linking a petition. It's all talk here

In other words "Obama won, let him do what he want (and I will follow like sheep) for the next four years!"
I'm sorry but for all your attempts to "appear" smart you haven't learned a thing from history, people were talking just like you before the last American civil war!
This country is no longer the country it was, go ahead like all liberals, stick your head in the sand and let others take care of you!

Cool story, bro.

I wish I could leave it at that, but I have to include a second line for purposes.

Sorry, I was just pointing out the extreme silliness of your claims that you somehow can't recite the Pledge of Allegiance anymore. Or pay your bills.

Basically you just made up a bunch of stuff and I called you on it.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

This represents the peril of the "knee jerk" post.... I haven't read the entire thread and am short on time.

Perhaps someone can persuade me that I am incorrect in my thinking...

Isn't secession systemically counter-productive? Let's face it, this dynamic which exists between the Federal institutions is more or less fully integrated within nearly every state institution. (Dare I mention the department of Homeland Security? The mere implications in the name seem to evoke feelings of doom.)

There is no secession anymore. It can't work... no state (with all due respect) in the union can exists on it's own except perhaps one... which happens to not be a state. There can be no secession within a nation such as ours. We are one nation. The individuality of states has been politically reduced to a facade. Could you imagine a governor actually "splitting" from the almighty party to become a "president?" I can't see it as even remotely likely.

If that argument holds true... then isn't this threat more of an empty gesture? And if this is a 'gesture,' who benefits from it? extra DIV

You got me there. I'm loving the fact all of the secessionist trolls are now starting to sarcastically call me things like 'smart guy' and 'edumacated,' as if that's some sort of insult.

Anyways, back on topic; maybe you have an explanation for why he is no longer allowed to tell people Merry Christmas, or to recite the Pledge of Allegiance?

Leave my car unlocked.
Leave my house unlocked.
Walk a block without being on camera.
Walk in a black neighborhood without being shot or beaten up.
Walk in a white neighborhood without being shot or beaten up.
Not being called an a-hole because I liked a different political party.
Not be felt up in an airport.
Not be stopped just because I was on a highway.
Pay my bills.
Say Merry Christmas.
Pray in public.
Say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Not have my mail read.
There are more but you should get the idea.

Petitions from 39 states now last I looked. I know that people cannot be so naive as to think these people want to leave the country therefore are either beholding to, or are the evil ones, TPTB, illuminati or whatever you may wish to call them IMHO. To you patriots out there, don't you wish we knew every name of these shills when we get our country back?

I would like to see a list of these un-patriots so we can tell them, "oh well you did not wish to be free so you are not welcome here by your own choosing, sorry but in this free society we want everyone to have what they wished for"!

This is not about breaking up the nation you idiots! This is about taking our nation back from the corporatists who stole it from us! If you can not understand that, then you are hopelessly mentally deficient or as stated before, one of them!

It's not politically correct.
Many schools have stopped saying the pledge from pressure from Athiests.
Go to Walmart next month. They will say "Happy Holidays." They are not allowed to say Merry Christmas.

P.S. Goodnight.

So what you're saying is that you're not banned from saying anything. You just don't like the fact that

A) Some schools no longer have the Pledge of Allegiance as mandatory
and
B) Some stores greet you with the neutral phrase "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas."

So your above statement is conflicting with your initial assertion. Huh. Funny that.

But I see Nite_Wing has gone to bed. I'm sure he'll be back tomorrow for another rousing round of insightful debate and arguing semantics.

I mention homosexuality as an out and proud gay man sick and tired of the right wingers trying to control and dictate the freedoms of their fellow Americans based on their own twisted fantasies of an invisible sky wizard.

But, as I'm also British, what the Republican party does is pretty irrelevant to me from a personal perspective. I already live in a country more modern and socially equal than the USA, and as long as we are moving in the right direction I'm happy with that

And the statement you make about voting for Big foot before Obama suggests to me that you are one of those of whom I speak. I'll bet you were itching to sign one of those petitions and will be proudly waving your Bible for the extreme right party when it's forced out of a modern Republican party too. Good for you!

I know very few people who care about the state of this country and where it is headed... so if I can't have a say, then please, deport me.

This is what I don't get...I dislike how far we've strayed from our Constitutional principals as well, but,..where are you going to go? The only places I can think of with greater freedom either have far less opportunity, are overrun by constant warring factions, are full of life-threatening jungle disease, or are highly Socialist, which most of the people who are so fed up with the fed are thoroughly against.

To wish for a return to yesteryear is one thing, but to actually consider leaving for greener pastures...where are they? Europe? Nope. Asia? Worse. Africa...warlords, poverty, starvation, and disease in parts, far worse dictatorship in others. Antarctica...cold. South America, Socialist/Communist. Nordic countries...REALLY Socialist.

I guess maybe Greenland or Iceland? I'm just seriously wondering...I know we're not what we should be, and its gotten far worse since 2001, but where is this paradise of freedom, so much better than the USA?
