Hello all first post. It is a sad day when anyone or the government will/would strip a person or state of the 1st amendment (freedom of speach). If the government now in place has the power to do so it need not be their. We are well at least were a country for the people by the people. If it means some have had enough then they have. Let them speak their peace and move on. Un like the fools that have a strangle hold on proper politics and proceedures. Hey be free and live the american dream. Pay your taxes and support obama care. Which i for one hate!! When the doctors tell my grand parents that they have outlived their usefullness and are a burdon on the society!! When will it become evident that their are a ton of us true blue americans' that have had enough! When you hurt one you hurt more. Some folks just don't get it. They just got their hand's out for more freebies'. Later and Glad to be here.

I thought that Obama was all about "bridging the party divide" How exactly does a survey like this contribute to across the aisle unity again?

Oh probably exactly the same way saying trayvon martin could have been my kid helped racial unity.

Or like blaming a riot that it turns out NEVER EVEN HAPPENED on FREE SPEECH!

How anyone could support this utter dirtbag of an administration is beyond me.

At every chance they get they PISS ON YOU AND TELL YOU IT"S RAINING.

And you Obama Supporters revel in the yellow "rain"

Yet it's those of us who don't support obama who are deluded....

Yet it's those of us who don't support the creeping federal encroachment into every aspect of our lives and livelihoods who are dangerous...;

Yet it's those of us who actually see and understand that the Obama administration in concert with their allies in the republican party are playing out this entire kabuki theater to get you to rabidly support the group of people who are day by day piece by piece dismantling your nation, your way of life, and your FUTURE and you are THANKING them for it!

I love this site,i get to read about things you dont find on regular news sites, some of its bull some of its cool.I like free thinking and most of the time there is a lot of it on here...But reading some of these replys made a huge tumor grow in my head...The whole obama won get over it,if you dont like it move to china, you're just throwing a tantrum...When i read things like that all i want to ask is what is stuffed up there, and does it itch...if more people signed these petitions maybe our elected officials would get a clue, listen to the people not the lobbyists.......

and even bzzttt....

I have one, along with many others who fly the correct flag. Don't even get me started on the gold-fringed one.

Despite silly conspiracy theories the US US Coast Guard ensign, derived from the Revenue Cutter Service ensign of 1799, is not now and never has been anything other than the ensign of that particular service.

Please - this place is about denying ignorance - not demonstrating it!!

And how many "conspiracy theories" have been proven to be true?
The Coast Guard was not a Federalized entity. That is why they flew the Civil Flag instead of the Federal one.. Don't use wikipedia for proof of anything. They've been shown to be not legit in many instances.

Suck it up losers you lost the election. I can even begin to describe how un-american it is to jump ship when times get tough. I wonder how many of those signatures are based on Obama being black.

Big deal about Texas and 25k signatures out of 25 million people. btw I'm on my way to sign the petition in the op.

Now that I've been thinking about this for awhile, I've come up with what I think the US should do in this scenario (besides just wait for it to blow over, which is what will happen.)

Since it is a small minority of the populace who wants to secede, and the idea seems to be most popular in the poorest, most federally-dependent states, I think we should set aside a portion of Arizona, on the Mexican border, where we don't have natural resources or ports to lose, much of which has been supported by taxpayer, federal dollars.

AZ seems to have been the most vocal asserters (word?) of states' power in recent years, so giving up a chunk for this seems a good fit. Maybe even pay the part of the state remaining in the Union for the land. We wouldn't have to worry about them securing their border, because we could ensure the US/New AZ border remains secure.

The new citizens (or whatever they would call individuals in their new nation) would obviously need to form somme form of defense and border security for themselves, and would also need to figure out what to do about roads if they want to have them. Assumingly, they would invite private companies to build roads, which would be pay-per-use, rather than socialist taxes for road systems. They would need taxes for their defense, unless they did it all volunteer (or forced as a condition of citizenship.) I would assume the US would trade with them, if they had anything worthwile to sell, and they would probably buy our crops.

The US would be amiable neighbors, after-all, these people won't be costing the rest of us anymore, but I don't believe they should expect any aid. I do think we would have to infiltrate with spies, though we have satellites and they don't, but they will be desperate for funds, and may side with enemies of the US to get them. It will be a rough go for the people of New AZ, but then, it wasn't easy for the settlers of the US.

They don't deserve any more, they haven't won anything.

What does shall not be infringed mean in your little fantasy world?

You do know that there's more to that sentence than the second part right?

What does "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." mean to you?

See, this is the problem with people like yourself, you're all for the second part of that sentence, but completely ignore the first part and your patriotic duty as an American.

Yea, guess what? Own a gun? Yer part of that WELL REGULATED MILITIA they were talking about. It's part of the United States best defense It's citizenry being armed.

Course some people think owning a gun automatically comes with a licence to kill their fellow countrymen. But that's not what owning a firearm is all about.

They don't need to sucede.

There are already provisions in the US Bill of Rights that if the people feel that the Government isn't working for the people anymore then they have the right to overthrow said Government.

See my signature.

Ok.

Do you think it is normal for the government to "strip" your citizenship because of political reasons?

The people who are upset over this do know that just about anyone can start a petition on Whitehouse.gov, right? Even if said petition is patently satirical?

This is obviously a snarky response to the secessionists and fantasists. Can't say I blame whoever started the petition; I'm getting tired of listening to the whiners, as well. Nobody's seriously advocating we deport anyone who signs such a petition, though.

I think a lot of the problem surrounding the hype around this 'states petitioning to secede' story is that nobody pushing the story seems to understand how the petition process on Whitehouse.gov works. Same goes for this petition in particular.

Dude, the secession is for the states, not individuals. There is no physical moving of bodies involved. You seem to be terribly confused.

Apparently the majority of voters disagree with you.

But I digress. Back on topic, I still don't get this whole secession thing.

Texas v. White determined that secession is illegal and states don't possess the sovereignty to up and leave the union whenever they please.

Ignoring all the other problems with the secession petitions (they weren't even submitted by state governments, the number of secessionists in each state is vastly overshadowed by non-secessionists, even in places like Texas, etc...), the biggest problem is that secession is illegal. Period. Even if a million concerned citizens signed one of these petitions it doesn't amount to anything. The White House will brush them off. Do they really think this will be taken seriously?

They dont want to move to another country, they want to stay here. They can still do this. And it can be done in a peaceful way. So settle down everyone. Succession can be a peceful process.

I will gladly be exiled from this authoritarian dictatorship.
I know very few people who care about the state of this country and where it is headed... so if I can't have a say, then please, deport me.
