I find the lack of media coverage disturbing.

As we all know, Dec 21, 2012, is not far away. About 40 days remain. However, what I find most eerie, is the fact that the news hasn't talked about it, at all.

Back when Harold Camping predicted the rapture would occur on may 28, 2011, there was huge media coverage, headline news. It was on billboards near major highways, there was a radio station about it, signs on vehicles and so on... People knew about it, and it was talked about by all..

Then we have the y2k scare. For months before this event, there was a massive amount of media coverage fear mongering about computers crashing, and a technological armageddon.... Everyone knew about it, and everyone was expecting something to happen.

So a mere 6 weeks away from dec 21, 2012, and its bigger than y2k, and bigger than harold campings rapture.... Dec 21, 2012, has been talked about by ancient civilizations, and not just one, but by the egyptians, the zodiac, the I-ching (timewave) by the kali yuga, by nostradamus, by the hopi indians..... By new age mystics, and even the bible itself, not naming that particular day, but hinting that we are in the end of times right now. That is a lot more credible than some guy claiming the rapture is coming.... its a lot more credible than technology failing.... It's been talked about for millenia!!!

Media coverage on 2012....... NOTHING! Not a word. Does their lack of coverage mean they aren't telling us something, or does it mean they simply aren't interested in reporting about it? If the latter is true, then why did they hype the other days, with little to no historical backing? Dec 21, is the biggest prophetic date of our time, and I'm a little concerned when I find nothing in the news about it.

Does this raise any alarm bells for anyone else?

I believe it is because people will go postal, and loot and panic, even though I disagree they don't tell people another thought always takes over...why would they tell 311,000,000 million people to prep....it would be very bad.

Why would they tell 311 million people to prep the other times? What makes this time any different?

I agree. There has been a significant absence of coverage. Is it because people are burnt out about it? Or is it that there is a universal fear that maybe it really is going to be the end? I personally don't believe it is the end but certainly a date that has significance.

The only things that will be happening are certain alignments in the galaxy that are relevant only from one perspective, and a planet alignment has never ripped our solar system to shreds. #2 is that if the Mayan lived through this cycle in a rock cave then can't we win too? Are we not a well prepared and educated society? This is very interesting I will give you that, but I am hoping for the best. It isn't just the Mayan calendar, it is way deeper than that. The numbers that are about to combine on that date are written in pyramids around the world. I wonder.

People are not burnt out about it....Most of the people in my life don't even give it a thought. The date is fast approaching, the world is vastly unaware of it. Everyone may know about it, but because a movie was made about it, people brush it off like its nothing at all.

It's not about what happens, if anything at all..... It's about telling people its coming... like they have with other dates.... but with 2012, we get nothing at all....its like the media just lost interest. How come they never lose interest in who paris hilton is sleeping with? Its disturbing to say the least....

I don't know about most people being unaware but they are more likely focusing on what they are going to get for Christmas on the 25th. What elephant in the room?

Exactly what needs to happen will happen.

Hopefully, a incomprehensible change forcing every single individual across the planet to reevaluate their perspectives on life values.

The next 40 days are exclusively reserved to the savior of our economy, Santa Claus.

There is no room for error in maximizing 4th quarter profits.

Therefore all end of the world coverageis on hold until...

All the consumer goods are bought and wrapped.

Yes, exactly.... It just tells me that something really is going to happen, because of their silence. They don't want people to be prepared, they don't want people to panic until its too late, so they stay silent, let the days creep by, and just let it happen.... People will be far to busy with xmas shopping to think about it.... It's retarded. I think it's important people are aware of it, whether something happens or not, we have a right to know.

Harold Camping made the news because he promised the Rapture would happen. He also owned the radio station, paid to have all the bill boards put up, and signs for the cars of his followers. The media got into the crazy nut job frenzy for the ratings.

The whole Dec 21st. thingy has already been assimilated into mainstream advertising...the glow is gone....

Nothing is going to happen...you'll wake up on the 22nd of Dec. Still have to go to the bathroom, still have to get dressed and face another normal day.

I'm sorry, the economy won't allow me to do that. Perhaps if I can convince the government to send me one of those bailout packages.

You blow this up beyond any proportions. "The media" and "normal" people (me included, by the way) don't care about 21dec 2012. It's pseudo hoag-wash BS lies and i cannot wait til the date has come and gone.

Y2K had *some* merit, it was in some sense real since no one knew about how many computers would malfunction at that date.

Harold Camping got coverage because nuts people etc. usually get coverage.

There is not much for "mainstream media" to cover.

It's NOT the biggest mainstream media of our time (as you call it)...it's a fringe-science and conspiracy forums subject, coming from one or two authors in the past who CLAIMED things which are simply not true.

The Maya did not predict the end of the world in 2012. It's simply false or intentional "bent" facts so a few doomsday book authors could made money from the gullible.

NOSTRADAMUS DID NOT PREDICT the end in 2012 eiter.

In fact, there was big hype before 2000 because Nostradamus was claimed to predict the Apocalypse in 1999. Likelihood, you were not even born yet or too young - because otherwise you would know what a BIG, BIG hype it was before the millenium about Nostradamus alleged 1999-apocalypse prediction.

The people who NOW are claiming he actually "predicted" the apocalypse in 2012, again, they are just..plain and simply LYING. It's all a big mess of pseudo science, lies and delusions.

Religious people, doomsday-sayers, "prophets" and whatnot do this for MILLENNIA already - they already stood in ancient cities and preached "the end is near" - heck, cheezus (no pun intended)...do you think this is something new that someone claims the apocalypse is coming?

I expect nothing to happen.. This is not about whether something will happen or not. Nothing is going to happen on dec 21, nothing is ever going to happen in our lifetimes, thats not the point.

The Y2K scare was a non event because they applied a liberal coating of Y2KY which let them put four digits where only two digits would fit before.

Now, as to the lamestream medias lack of coverage. I think that, with the attention span of a retarded gnat, the lamestream media has lost interest in something that hasn't bled yet while there are plenty of "if it bleeds it leads" stories to sell advertising space in their media.

i been thinking what the OP said, i mean they made a movie for "2012" 3 years ago surely a few weeks away should bring some kind of news. and i been wondering about it, but what you said here Zroth reflects exactly how i feel. our media is controlled by tptb and they are more concerned with making their money than to enlighten people of the times. i mean the way i see it, either two things happen 1.) people market xmas like they do each year, it brings in a butt load of money through materialistic propaganda, or 2.) they remind people of a very profound date, and people freak out and shelter themselves in. it seems there was more 2012 stuff the years before 2012 which is ironic, but i have no doubt its all about the money, and about making that last quick buck as opposed to telling people things may change.

for the record, no i dont think the world will end or anything big is going to happen, but i believe somethings going to give, be it man made, or conscious, i know for one when 2013 hits, i wont be frequenting the doom porn anymore at all. and even just for historical purposes, 2012 is a huge fulfillment to many ancient texts so if anything it does mean 'something' at least to lost cultures we no longer can relate to
