Romney only got 57 percent of the vote in the election. That isn't near the two thirds needed to secede from the USA. Of those 57 percent, more than half would not want to secede from the USA because of the restrictions on their travel.. I think this is just a pipe dream of a hundred thousand individuals that decided to make waves.

This is really starting to get out of hand. They are actually going for it. I am sure this is not coming from the Texas government or any other of the government from the states involved. This is coming directly from the people living in those states; which is good in the sense that the people are attempting to choose it by themselves. On the other hand, like I pointed out in on a different thread, this will have seriously negative effects on internationally stability. The world is already struggling to hold it together and any break up of the United States would cause a tailspin effect. All those international agreements, trade routes and American Ex-Pats who depend on a strong Embassy so they can live in other countries safely will be put into chaos.

These ideologies aren't radical, their fundamental and they're the foundation of what America was founded and principled upon.

It's wrong to call them 'wack jobs' because you're threatened by them because they're expressing the rights that you've decided to give up.

I find it funny people are worried about petition numbers.
I've now had several people who would NEVER have discussed alternative ideas for the course of the future American path.. They're looking now.. and talking and what I'm hearing at this juncture gives credence to the "4th Turning"

I'm being asked if I think major upheaval of any sort resides in my crystal ball by the end of Obamas 2nd term.

I honestly don't know now. I'm sure we'll find out in the next 4 years how fractured "We the people" really are.

This petition means next to nothing and its implications only go as far as someone will read it and there will be a response posted and that is all. I can start a petition to have Donald Trump’s head shaved and it would get the same attention if I got 25,000 signatures. This is just an exercise in futility. It all a bunch of hoopla.

Its nothing to worry over. The big difference now is that technology makes it so easy to make noise on a wider scale.

Is it Impossible to consider that the "United States of the Americas" could break up just like the "United Soviet Socialist Republic" did 20 years ago?.
Although the USSR was much more regionally ethnically and religiously diverse than the USA, there seems to be a few that are "flourishing" (note in Soviet terms), and still dealing with mother Russia, but not controlled by them...Kazakhstan comes to mind.

Could the "South" of the USA, secede from the North, but still retain all trade etc as it does now?
Will there be another civil war in the Un-United States of the Americas?
Will the Brits, Aussies, and Canucks, come to the rescue....But who do we join? who is the "Right" side?
Will the USA be our Vietnam...? Hopefully peace will prevail.........

Out of hand for whom? For a Prez who is so partisan the entire Republican side of Congress defied his agenda?

And oh by the way, the Obama admin has added much instability to the Middle East and North Africa with his Union buddies stirring up trouble and his friends in the Muslim Brotherhood.

Boy are you off base... So because I don't feel the same way as those in Texas (who are trying to secede) that means I've given up my rights?? News flash guy, life ISN'T so bad here in America... If you believe it is, go try living in some other country and see how great it is.. I don't feel oppressed by my Govt. I understand that some "rights" had to be altered to help keep this country safe and protected, and I'm fine with that... I feel safe here, I'm able to do whatever the hell I want to each day, I'm able to work whatever job I choose, I can practice whatever religion I want, I can eat, drink, sleep, do whatever the heck I want (within the legal parameters set) you get the point..
