as the title says :

" WITCH .............she is a witch " ooops , appologies - wrong century " "PEADOPHILE .....he is a peadophile "

the last months events in the UK have only served to cement my opinion that the base psychology of the " general pubic " [ not a spelling mistake ] has not advanced by very much since the 18th century

" he is a peadophile " really has replaced " she is a witch "

and despite 300 years of " advancement " - the 2 accusations are thrown about with the same disregard to evidence , due proces or logic

and dont get me started on all the idiots now coming forward with " proof " that they knew of peadohile activity dating back betweeen 45 and 10 years ago

Only difference is there is no such thing as witches and never was.
There is such a thing as pedophiles.

Fact is, they are sometimes people you pass everyday and would never suspect.
They should be ferreted out, brought into the light of day and punished for it.

I think there is a difference.

I would just thank your lucky stars that you weren't one of the kids abused by *insert sick persons name here*.

Imagine if you had been raped, but you were labelled as an idiot if you came forward with info?

What are you trying to say? That the investigation into the abuse and cover up in the UK is BS? If that is what you are saying you are totally wrong, the police would not be arresting people if it wasn't true, you think that people should just ignore these allegations?

edit; Who the hell gave you a star for your post?

Can you clarify that statement. We have a handful of admitted witches right here on ATS, let alone the few I've known personally.

I think he meant the type like "Wicked Witch of the East" witches. You know, the Halloween horror movie kind. Not Wiccans.

But honestly, when we start defending pedophiles over the children they harm, we're as good as the pedophiles.

That's funny, there are plenty of witches today and throughout history. Witches used to be mostly healers until they started abolishing witchcraft and killing them all. Now all the secrets are passed down through family...you won't find any real secrets of witchcraft anywhere except from other people who already know it.

He didn't mean that. He meant evidence , due process and logic are worth defending.

It's about going after the right people and not making it a crusade.

But I wonder how pedophilia survived evolution? What benefit does it have? But I suppose this is like asking why murder or corruption survived evolution, at least in part. But this stems from something I lately read about homosexuality benefiting families because the homosexuals donate their time to strengthen a community - among other things. I forget the name of this. It's a evolutionary term.

I see your point. At the moment here accusations are being banded about recklessly and innocent people are getting smeared in the process.

Those who have committed these awful crimes should be brought to justice but in the courts. At the moment any tom dick or harry can stand up and say "I was abused by such and such in the 70s" and be believed by the masses.

Whatever happened to evidence and the idea of innocent until proven guilty?

Hello Ignorant_Ape..........here is the latest fashionable accusation to soon appear on the "List of Hate Crimes."
paedophobe and/or paedophobia ........................as in homophobe amd/or homophobia.

Let's imagine the new entry as it might appear in the next edition of the "Urban Dictionary."
paedophobe: Someone who repeatedly whines that paedophiles endanger the sanctity of marriage and family values, until outed as a closet case, desperately afraid of the paedophile person looking back in the mirror.

Someone who calls paedophilia a "lifestyle choice" but their own biology disagrees. Think about it: did you CHOOSE to be straight? As a teenager did you sit down one day and decide whether to be attracted to little children?
It isn't surprising that stories about paedophobes/paedophiles often end with "was caught behind the restroom with a little boy's ____ in his mouth".

They are wiccan not witches. Witches are a fable that "medicine women" adopted as a fairy tale they like to tell people to command respect for being a nature girl. The witches they burned were reportedly possessed of the devil. I am not sure who you know...

I get what your saying and agree with you.

The fact that everyone else doesn't just proves your point and shows they would be the same ones around the woodpile throwing torches at the witches feet in another time.

IF pedo's are proven to be, then they need to be punished but ruining someones life on an accusation is medieval.

They are innocent until proven guilty.

I don't see the problem.
Nobody goes to jail without a chance to prove they are innocent of the crime they are charged with. If other peoples crimes can be released, as in a Police blotter - what is the difference here? Thieves have their reputations to uphold too.

You know, I might have been more willing to encourage that direction of thought,
if it wasn't for the most current developments in my town.

This summer we had a rash of attacks upon young girls. Seven girls between the ages of 7 and 12 were attacked and raped brutally in camping sites in our area. Someone was going into tents and campers each night and doing this.

My son said he knew a guy from his high school, a couple years older than him, who had been caught with some kiddy porn by his friends. He just mentioned it as we were talking about "what kind of person could do such a thing."

But then it was found that it WAS this guy, and he ended up admitting it!

It just made me think deeply, and wonder if we shouldn't have perhaps brought this guy to the attention of the police earlier? If maybe it could have saved even one girl! But at the time I kind of scoffed and waved it off as the kind thing people just exaggerate about.

one thing i do find amazing about this new witch hunt is it seems a lot easier to accouse the dead, they cant defened themsleves, i have no doubt the jimmy saville and many others did abbhorant things to children, but i find it kind of strange that they waited for so long to come forward and tell there story,
or was it when they heard the word "compensation"
news international are having a massive witch hunt against the BBC for one reason and one reason only, it was the BBC that led the witch hunt against news international for there role in the phone hacking situation

I think you are thinking of shamans, midwives and medicine women. The Church began killing people who called themselves any of these things or practiced medicine so they could pave the way for their own brand of medicine and the AMA. It was a corrupt branch of what was government at the time working hand in hand with the Church which was responsible for ridding the new land of things like Indians and Medicine Women calling them witches and saying they are possessed of the devil to justify killing them The witch burning was a scare tactic to get rid of midwives and give the birthing to doctors who had graduated from "acceptable institutions of medicine" These women didn't call themselves witches - although I will agree many women call themselves that today. I could call myself a Unicorn but it doesn't mean I am one.
