Why would anybody want to give the people who don't know how to spend money, more money? That is insane. I am all for taxing everyone but you need to control spending. Tax tax tax does nothing if you spend spend spend. Oh and one more thing lazy people have no skin in the game either, they pay no federal taxes. I'm all for helping the poor but not the lazy. Oh and one more thing: Does it really matter? We already fell off the cliff we just haven't landed yet.

Just so you know, the IMF and the World Bank are part of the whole NWO Globalist agenda. It is truly strange seeing so many people here on this site supporting this agenda when it comes from a Progressive President.

There are 96 billionaires in America. All told they are worth less than 1 trillion dollars. If you take every penny they have it will not amount to 1 year of entitlement spending, much less run the government. Spending cuts will happen or we will become a third world country when the bottom drops out. The math just does not work.

Tax the rich all you want. We'll still be in debt. You can liquidate all of Bill Gates' assets, and it would barely make a dent. Until we dramatically stop all of the spending, on military abroad, cut politicians' paychecks, keep welfare recipients from spending it on beer and drugs just to name a few, and until we stop borrowing money beyond our means...

Then I fear there's nothing else we can do. Taxing the proverbial crap out of the wealthy may help, but we would still be in debt. Basically, we would be taking a little bit of nothing out of a whole lot of nothing. Either way, it's still nothing.

Taxing those who make 250k a year sounds ok until you realize that is small business generally. They will either lay people off or use part time workers to stay solvent. That will create even more entitlements and bog down the economy.

Were fast approaching the point where singling out the rich is going to become a civil rights issue.

Why target a segment of the population because of who they are? How fast would all of you condemn the government for penalizing a segment if the population for color, sex, .....income? Hmm...

How quick to be hypocritical people..

All my life the democrats have talked about tax increases, and spending cuts. They seem to love the tax increases because all we ever get are tax increases. I can only remember one time when there were any spending cuts, when republicans forced president Clinton into it, but as soon as they got rid of him, they started increasing spending again.

The republicans always talk about spending cuts, not that much about tax increases. But I guess when they say spending cuts, what they really mean is spending increases, because that's what they always do too.

In the end all I ever see is higher taxes.

Dude that is a horrible quote, how do you know poor people don't know how to spend money? Stereotype...
If poor people had more money they would spend it in their local economy (most of it), then those businesses could paint their building, add a sign, a clean parking lot, pay employees to clean and provide better safer services-and much much more. Poor people spend money, middle class spend money, and so do the rich. The rich buy the most BS objects just to spend money. You clearly don't have any grasp on the way economies work do you?

Make them legal then they can finally pay taxes, and help build our infrastructure. That's all an illegal immigrants are-tax evaders that's all. THey avoid taxes, yet use our roadways, bridges, and nation parks without ever paying for it.

You forgot about, vote for more democrats. That's the only reason the democrats love them so much. If they tended to vote republican, they'd be trying to lock them up instead of giving them welfare.

The republicans are just as bad. They love them for their cheap labor, but they ended up cutting their own throats, because after there got to be so many of them, they voted the republicans out. That trend will get a lot worse now, or maybe better depending on your perspective, with Oboma opening the flood gates for them.

Cut useless pork spending. Cut overseas nation building.
Then we won't be tempted to raise taxes on (steal from) anyone. IMHO.

Your ideas are the same as the governing philosophies put forth to the American people by Ron Paul during the GOP primaries...

...perhaps republican voters should have chosen RP as their `guy` as opposed to Romney. Because your ideas (and Ron Paul`s) surely do not coincide with Mitt Romney's philosophy of government.

Now, here you sit for the next 4 years.

American voters made the right choice in the presidential elections....wrong choice in the GOP primaries.

...another missed opportunity...*tisk-tisk*

Answer this one question then...

How for "pennies more in taxes" can the 1% pay off hte trillion dollar debt?

And for you Obamacare people, look at the new taxes for next year, 2014 and 2016. Oh and Union workers, seems your bosses mislead you. Wait til 2016 when you see the new tax for you guys. And i quote "..2016 gives the union workers enough time to save and get some sort of break".

Next up is the Medicine Cabinet Tax that took effect in 2011. This tax prohibits reimbursement of expenses for over-the-counter medicine, with the lone exception of insulin, from an employee’s pre-tax dollar funded Health Saving Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). This provision hurts middle class earners particularly hard since they earn enough to actually pay federal taxes, but not enough to make this restriction negligible.

The Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Cap, which will begin in 2013, is perhaps the most hurtful provision to the middle class. This part of the law imposes a cap of $2,500 per year (which is now unlimited) on the amount of pre-tax dollars that could be deposited into these accounts. Why is this particularly hurtful to the middle class? It is because funds in these accounts may be used to pay for special needs education for special needs children in the United States. Tuition rates for this type of special education can easily exceed $14,000 per year and the use of pre-tax dollars has helped many middle income families.

Another direct hit to the middle class is the Medical Itemized Deduction Hurdle which is currently 7.5% of adjusted gross income. This is the hurdle that must be met before medical expenses over that hurdle can be taken as a deduction on federal income taxes. Obamacare raises this hurdle to 10% of adjusted gross income beginning in 2013. Consider the middle class family with $80,000 of adjusted gross income and $8,000 of medical expenses. Currently, that family can get some relief from being able to take a $2,000 deduction (7.5% X $80,000 = $6,000; $8,000 –$6,000 = $2,000). An increase to 10% would eliminate the deduction in this example and if that family was paying a 25% federal tax rate, the real cost of that lost deduction would be $500.

~Increase the tax of the rich (The Rich are those who run big companies and industries (i.e Ford, Microsoft, Dell, Verizon, etc, etc)

~Rich have higher taxes than before/others
- Less Money in their pockets
- Decide to increase the costs of their merchandise
- Still no solution
~The Rich fire their workers
- More income due to less workers needed to be paid
- Massive decrease in jobs in the U.S
- More people needing jobs
- More people in the streets without money
- More people with less money
- Less products being sold due to people not being able to afford it (i.e Food, Gas/Oil, Electronics, etc, etc)
- Less income The Rich (companies, etc) gain
- Bankruptcy
- Economical Crash

Taxation is force, first off. If you support the initiation of force in the first place then you support immorality right off the bat. You support the government's use of and the threat of violence to get what it wants.

Second, even if we were to accept taxation as valid, then you leftists honestly need to learn some econ 101 and realize that soaking the rich doesn't work. They have teams of people to help figure out loopholes so as not to have to pay these higher taxes in the first place. Even if this didn't happen, they'll still pass any losses on to the consumer.

How the left hasn't managed to figure this out is truly beyond me considering that the basic information is abundant online now right at your disposal.

It's willful ignorance at it's finest. Take a few minutes of your precious time that you spend spouting off about stuff you don't understand and watch this simple video. This is as simple as 2 + 2 = 4. You socialistic leaning leftists will deserve all the pitfalls of this european socialist model that you're supporting Obama to implement.

It seems that the only plan liberals have is taxing the rich, They live in a fantasy where they believe that once they start taxing the rich then puff help wanted signs will be every where, prices for products will be lower, and we'll be singing in the rain together. Taxing the rich won't matter if the people in the White House & Congress don't spend our money like they should.

Good luck Mr. Obama.....

No matter how much they tax, they'll always find a reason why they need to increase spending even more. Even if by some miracle they do cut something, they'll spend it on something else.

Who is they, you might ask? All of them. There's just one party with two names.
