There is no reset in a world where 75% of the population lives in big cities, and relies on grocery stores who stock 3 days at a time. There is only mass "agenda 21" style extinction of 2/3 the population, who incidentally -- are the most productive part of it in the first place.

I work towards a better world for everyone, because the world you advocate is death to our entire way of life, and most of the people living in it.

What was our tax structure like in 42, when the "greatest generation" were out "saving the world?"

What was it like in 62, when the rise of the middle class made America the worlds premiere economy?

In 72, when we were landing men on the moon?

In 92, when the commercial Internet was busting through its infancy and entering a very productive childhood?

I don't think there is any question that the US is capable of startling innovation and great things. Lets move our tax structure back towards that direction and find a point of equilibrium, cos' this ain't it.

We cannot compare TODAY with YESTERDAY when it comes to TAXES.

When we went OFF the gold standard in 1973, EVERYTHING changed. People don't realize just exactly how this effected everything from that point forward. Time to stop comparing the 50's and 60's tax rates to TODAY'S tax rates.

So all you liberals won't blame someone else then, when the economy tanks.

Good.

It is good to take ownership and responsibility.

When the economy tanks? Where were you in 2008?

The world I imagine is not the world as it is.

Some people have already come up with a workable alternative to the unsustainable way the world works today.

Almost every aspect of the current world is not sustainable, even in the short term.

The Governments,Churches, business models and methods are based on a world with infinite resources.

We don't have infinite resources,we would do well to look at the natural systems that surround us,yeah, the ones we are destroying at breakneck speed.

Human nature, and nature are on a collision course.

WE WILL NOT WIN.

I see a time in the future when there will be so little beauty left.

Maybe it's too late.

WW3 please, you're all begging for a distraction, that's why you waste so much time here.

I'm gonna go for a walk before there is no commons to enjoy anymore.

Well discussed and thought out solutions for the long term is always best.

Unfortunately, today, USA DOES NOT have that luxury.

The fiscal cliff looms, loan payments to be paid, money running out while the rich who had benefitted with low taxes for years at the expanse of the high paying middle classes and poor, are still BELLIGERANTLY refusing to help the very nation that had helped them prospered over the years.

Australia has a flat tax of a frighteningly 40% flat rate tax. Had they suffered? Nope, plenty of others around the world are still flocking there as the wealth is circulated back in social expenditure.

WIth low taxes for the rich, effectively, the middle class americans HAD BEEN footing the social expenditure bills FOR DECADES, while the rich hoard their wealth, spent on gambling in the wall st casino or property to get better returns and thus raising the property prices and rentals for the middle classes from both republican and democrat faithfuls.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! End the BS by the greedy self servicing republican fiscal conservatives!!!!

One year of the rich paying their fair taxes will not be enough to pay off debts or deficits. But it will be enough to stimulate the economy, to circulate wealth and grow the economy on necessary sectors to bring in revenues to increase tax revenues through the GDP.

Within a few more years, with responsible spending, through cutting wastage of public expenditure, contributions from the rich who choose to enslave third world greedy corrupted nations such as Russia, China and India, as well as innovative americans to create wealth, share it and circulate within the economy, the national debt WILL BE reduced.

It begins now, with the election of Mr. Obama and the Democrat party team, to do the right thing - to save the economy, to go where no selfish corporation/rich elites bought and beholden republican congressmen dares go.

70K?? That is going to depend on what so-call "loopholes" they eliminate. Good Luck!

Hope you don't have a kid or two in college that you...not the government....is paying tuition and expenses for.
Hope you're not helping with your elderly parents.
Hope you're not trying to sock away addition $$ for a couple of teens in high school that will soon be going off to college.
Hope you're not trying to pay your mortgage ahead so you can put more away for retirement. God knows SS will probably be raided completely by then.

The so-called "rich," the 1% pay double in income taxes compared to 1980

Source: The Tax Foundation, worth a look.

Even if the Federal government took ALL THE MONEY EARNED by EVERYONE over $250,000 per year, i.e.: Everything earned over that amount confiscated, plus raised taxes on everyone making less, it wouldn't make even a dent in the current "fiscal crisis."

The point I'm making is "rich" is relative. Also, you might want to tune in real closely to what loopholes/tax deductions are being negotiated. You might get blind sided with them.

Love it.........this is why we are in the situation we are in..........

People arent even aware of the numbers

P.S. You can tax whoever you want however much you want.......THEY STILL DONT HAVE A BUDGET!!!! Does that NOT even come into peoples thinmking anymore?

You think any person on the planet would give you a crap ton of money as an investment w out some sort of a PLAN on how its going to work?

The administration and people following lockstep with their "plan" to get us back on track are clearly delusional.....

They cant pass a budget, but are gonna set usright as rain huh?

(sits back to watch the country burn)

Well, one thing's for certain. What they're doing now ain't working. I really can't see how finally giving this a shot will make it unravel any faster than it has been... for YEARS!!!

I wish my reply would be seen by everyone here, but it probably won't be. I'm going to tell you all what really needs to happen.

EVERYONE needs to pay more tax. All the way from the "poor" to the "rich".

Massive cuts to all programs need to take place, even completely getting rid of MOST programs that equate to hand outs to the poor.

All benefits that apply to married people, home owers, people with kids and the other average person, need to stop. Like... larger deductions on taxes, EARNED INCOME CREDIT, child tax credit, SAVERS CREDIT, mortgage interest deduction and any other deduction/credit you would get for just living your life.

My wifes friend, god I hate this, she and her husband pay no tax, and still get a tax return every year for more than $12,000.00 dollars. You read that right, $12k.

How many dollars are just giving away to the "poor" every year because of the EARNED INCOME CREDIT?

Billions.

Exactly. This has nothing to do with money and everything to do with power. This move will make a bunch of poor people feel good about who they voted for. That, and let a few people at the top know who's in control.

This is why I said what I said.

Everyone needs to pay more, everyone needs to expect less, and the goverment needs to spend less on everything.

In the 30+ years since Reagan begun what we euphemistically know as "trickle-down" economics, productivity has increased 400%, and the cost of housing, medicine, food and energy has increased almost 500%.

Ergo: Trickle-down is a miserable failure, and dramatically shifts wealth upward, from working and middle class families, into the hands of an ever shrinking pool of economic elites.

Lol "trickle down" if he would have called it what it really was "vacuum up", he would not have been elected.

Go on liberals. Take the money.

Raise taxes.

I suppose this will be the only way to show the rest of America that leftist policies won't work. That they are a failure.

I wonder if the left and Obama will claim ownership for the economy then.

Will the leftists finally take responsibility for the economy?

Will the leftists finaly take ownership for their own policies?

I'll tell ya Barack Obunny (can't resist...this is fun to watch..) I believe if the economy improves, Obama will get full credit for it. I'll even say right now, well in advance that given what Obama DID walk into, there is literally no other person to say DOES get credit from a leadership position. That is if things improve and he's got 4 years to get there.

If things don't improve? He owns every last bit of that, too...and after 8 years? Even the most partisan among this nation cannot say it's not his baby with a straight face. Republicans this or Republicans that... Bahh... This is why we have an executive leader and that leader has a Vice he chooses among the same party instead of how the nation started that to work. His leadership works...or it doesn't.

I'll be HAPPY to give him credit for what doing that will mean for conditions in our nation by then. I'll absolutely give no mercy in assigning blame...if that is where we sit after a 2nd full term. Sounds fair to me.
