The work here has been absolutely amazing!

No BS, just pointing people to the thread and asking them to vote for images by giving stars

it'll be wild and crazy for the next two days

So how come the thread itself isnt receiving any more stars which it had been doing so gradually since it opened?

Can we have verification for each star from ATS with regards to IP addresses, otherwise I may be forced to quit the comp.

Another thing while I'm on a rant (sorry), how come the people running this comp are actively allowed to promote a banner of their choice? Hardly fair for the other contestants.

No sour grapes on my part, I actually believe the conveyor belt banner is a worthy winner as I mentioned last week, but stars don't jump like that....for one banner only?!

I am willing to bet that it is a combination to two things (based on my past experience with ATS contests):

- some users post more. people actually click the links from time to time, and if you set your link up to be the "add star" version of the URL, it will (at least in the past) star the post you link to. Dirty trick? Maybe....i didn't care to win (as what i made isn't as good as others in my opinion) so didn't market my creations in any way at all.

- You can U2U people and ask them for support. I wasn't even aware of the writing contests until I got a U2U from a friend asking me to read his story, and star if i like. Of course, i loved it and would have star'd it a million times. But if you want to garner support for something, you have to bring it to peoples attention.

ETA: looking at your overall post count, i would hazard a guess that, other than people who come by this thread already, very few are aware of what you made, and what you are doing. Take a few minutes and U2U folks you are friendly with and pimp your product. I bet you will drive a few more votes (and it will likely level the playing field).

As well, keep in mind....animations are going to get votes.

I agree with everything the furry one said. Total star-count competitions are going to benefit higher visibility members and smart marketing. But hey, that's the way this one was set up from the very beginning... No conspiracy here If you want to see how previous avatar competitions were run as examples, just use the search tool.

One thing I do know through experience here on ATS, is that staff will listen to good, constructive ideas from members on how to improve things, and the best time for that is after this competition is over.

Also, I have to say that the participation on this particular contest was truly incredible compared to older ones, and really gives us some great momentum going into the next one.

well...and since the contest was designed to drive marketing, it would be logical that someone with more talents are marketing their image would possibly have the skills needed to market the thread.

If we are to use "marketing" as term for what is going on, anyway.

To clarify: it does not detract from what JustChris made. Obviously a great artist with outstanding taste in design.
