Frankly I wouldn't mind if a few states left the union. Most of the states that seem to want to do this are a huge drain on taxpayer money anyway. So let them leave. And make sure that any people wishing to leave along with them are allowed. Of course never to return.

Then we just don't trade with the states that left the union.

Your post touches a number of significant issues.

I don't know jack about WND but the "birther" issue is real enough. We have a largely undocumented individual in the White House. He is using faked documents. One thing we do know: he has ties to the CIA; as do the Bush family and the Clintons.

As far as this country is concerned, the federals have decided to crash this country. They have grossly exceeded their authority and they are victimizing not only Americans -- but also people around the world. They are overthrowing countries, false-flagging, kidnapping, torturing, murdering, raping, stealing and using WMD (DU) around the world. The are running drugs and guns. They have systemically looted the US treasury and foreign treasuries in cooperation with Wall Street, central banksters and foreign groups.

Unfortunately, It appears that these cretins are going to ride this country into the ground instead of disbanding/dissolving the union. The only thing left for men and women of conscience is to secede. The alternatives to secession will be the descent into a centralized tyranny the likes of which we can only imagine -- even though they are starting to show their true nature with no-fly/terrorist lists and Stazi-style behavior.

As far as states seceding, why stop them? The fewer people to "govern", the more smoothly things will go.

Second of all, the map above posted by xuenchen shows my state will go to Canada, and I'm ALL FOR IT!
I'd have moved there years ago if not for family being here.....

I say, "Hold onto your hats everybody." (I'm holding onto mine.)

Right now there is a Federal Government in the United States, plus State governments and County governments and various Municipal governments.

Nobody has to secede. You've already got all the governments any country needs. The issue is jurisdiction.

The solution is for the individual states to assume federal jurisdiction and for the federal government to assume state jurisdiction.

That would mean that each state would look after the whole country from each state capitol, while administrations of all the states as individuals was handled in Washington.

I can't abide talk of secession, and as my plan shows, there is no need for it.

If you stop to think of the repercussions of what is about to happen to this country what with all the CEO's leaving, the buisness's that will close or at the very least stop hiring, lay offs resulting in an extreame loss of tax revenue, then seceding from the union might not be a bad idea.
The U.S. has become a country of hand outs, welfare, food stamps and soon to be heavy taxation. With the demished tax base from people taking what they have left and selling the rest and most just up and leaving the country, there won't be enough tax money to support much of anything.
A state alone may have a better chance then America has under socialist rule. Socialism has never worked and I think we as Americans are about to find out why, we don't seem to be able to learn from others mistakes, maybe living the nightmare will sink in.

WAIT wait wait...
okay, the predicted breakup of the US (as per the Russian professor) was supposed to happen
in 2010....

so, another failed prediction. Boo.....
although, since that's when the vicious campaigning started, maybe it's in the works, just not completed yet.

Like you, I think others are underestimating this.

Everything starts somewhere, and even if this fails in the original intention, it will get people talking about it, raise awareness, and convince many more that it would be a valid proposition.

I don't think people should just dismiss this as being nothing. How many times in the history of the US has this happened? What are you basing your beliefs of failure on? Why do so many here seem to think it's just a joke or will result in nothing?

Plenty here also thought the Tea Party would never get anything done when they started out. That was a joke, a small group of radical people with ideas that would never get off the ground. Then they got some billionaire bucks and before you know it...

The funny part about this is Red States that think they want secession would quickly be changing their tune. As soon as they found out that they would have to start paying more taxes once they are no longer being kept afloat by the wealthy Blue States they despise so thoroughly.

Be nice if all the southern red states who leech off the system would do so.

The takers. The moochers. The ones who take from the system and do not put back in. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the southern red states. They want free stuff.

In a reverse jurisdictional country the end result would be like going from one ball to another without moving. Isn't that what people want anyway?!/2012/09/grasshopper-again.html

Anything but a breakup of the country. Remember, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.

It's a great analogy if your "family" are the perps in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

While we're at it, let's split California into 2 states. They look and function differently anyway.

We want Northen Cal to go down 2 let's sayyyy, Pizmo Beach across east too Bishop, California.

So. Cal gets Santa Barbera to the border South. We get to the border North.

Seperate economies,governers, etc.

I think we should do THAT as a 51st state before we let Peurto Rico in.

Just kidding.

If Texas and a handful of other states joining them chose to split from the Union, a civil war would be fought to stop them. If they succeeded, to answer a question earlier about federal assets, all military hardware and other federal assets would become the property of the new republic. I personally think that the new republic would thrive as the true new America believing in the principles that this great country was originally founded on. The country that would remain governed from Washington would be a socialist welfare state with extreme power resting in the hands of Obama more similar to Russia and China. With the road Obama is on I wouldn't doubt they'd become new allies. Small business would be put in a stranglehold. Gas prices would be well over $5 a gallon and in the new republic (the oil states) you would see much more drilling and less dependency on foreign oil, prices would return to pre-Obama prices. Time and time again socialism has failed, but yet they just don't get it. Even China while remaining communist had to open up to capitalism to thrive economically.

IMO it may take some years but the new republic would come out on top! That's why the moment secession happens I'd be moving my family from Wisconsin down south and I'd bet I'm not alone in that idea. There would be an exodus. Not to say there wouldn't be many folks moving from the south into the socialist Obama states as well.

They may have already saw this coming and maybe that's why DHS ordered up 1.2 billion bullets, hundreds of thousands of black coffins and FEMA converted old military and other installations into death camps. Just something to ponder.

I'd love to see any of these states being a success after seceding.

Paying foreign tariffs for goods and services overseas and to their neighboring states? Just imagine what would happen if another Katrina hits? They have no rights to ask for assistance. How will they maintain their roads and infrastructure? How will they implement their own checks and balances when it comes to their new government?

But if they think they can make a go of it have at it. But me thinks some people should think long and hard here. If millionaires in these states are feeling overtaxed just imagine the level of taxes they'll have to pay after a secession?

Maybe, just maybe this is the intention. Suppose the "states" want to shuck the rule of the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and reestablish the "United States of America", get back to the original constitution and be on our merry way! The forming of the corporate government was not by the consent of the people or "governed", and therefore should be considered null and void.
The current "PTB" however, have usurped so much power that nothing can be accomplished from within. These states are not wishing to separate from the others. The intention is to leave the jurisdiction of the powerful elite IMHO!

Curious...Since I am a military brat, born in California, Social Sec # from Wisconsin, Home of Record is Texas and currently live in Ohio.

Would I become a dual citizen if Texas seceded?

So far I have come across news of three states that have filed petitions on the White House web site to secede from the union. They are Louisiana, Texas and Missouri.

Here is the first article I saw. I think this may just be the start of something, either a grass roots movement that will break our country up or one gigantic waste of time; or maybe a hoax. What do you think?

On Nov. 6, Americans voted to return Barack Obama to the White House; then on Nov. 7, some folks in Louisiana petitioned the White House to peaceably withdraw their state from the Union. Coincidence? According to the White House website, the petition was created by Michael E. (full last name not provided) of Slidell, La., the day after the election and has since been electronically signed by a few hundred people, most – but not all – of whom hail from the Pelican State.

What a load of crap, starting with the title of your thread. Nowhere in the source article linked in your OP, did it say that "States" are petitioning to secede. The actual title of the article you sourced is;

And this is the opening paragraph;

On Nov. 6, Americans voted to return Barack Obama to the White House; then on Nov. 7, some folks in Louisiana petitioned the White House to peaceably withdraw their state from the Union.

There's a big difference between "some folks" and "States." I think we all know that there are remaining pockets of residual KKK mentality spread out across America, primarily in what we call the "Red States" and that these nut jobs may very well want their Confederacy back, but I seriously doubt that they hold the majority position in their respective states.

Secondly, World Net Daily is hardly a reputable source. They're famous for promoting some of the craziest stories on the planet.

WND’s point of view is best described as a cross between the now-defunct supermarket tabloid Weekly World News, which was famous for reporting on Elvis sightings, and The New American, a monthly magazine published by the far-right, conspiracist John Birch Society. In its 15 years online, it has introduced readers to a smorgasbord of bizarre ideas, specializing in anti-gay, anti-Muslim, and anti-liberal propaganda; antigovernment conspiracy theories; and end-times prophecy.

It featured a six-part series claiming (falsely) that soybean consumption causes homosexuality and promoted Scott Lively’s vile opus The Pink Swastika, which says that gays were behind the Holocaust. It has identified the first “leftist” as Satan, and declared that Muslims have a “20-point plan for conquering the United States by 2020.” It has warned of secret plans to create a North American Union, advised readers to invest all their assets in gold, and promoted myriad, if conflicting, theories about when and how the world will end.

Its most enduring claim, by far, is that President Obama is constitutionally ineligible to serve as president because he supposedly is not a “natural-born” U.S. citizen.

Personally, I give WND about as much credibility as Sorcha Faal.

You know why this is bollocks?

Even if they secede who do you think the will ally themselves with militarily, in trade, who will they ask for help when they have natural disasters and financial difficulties, who will they share research and informational with? EACH OTHER, that is who. We all share a common culture and a common mentality.

Even if this generation of morons did it, their kids and grandkids would unite again. We are one people.

There is no continental USA without each state and no state without the whole USA.
The same people can not live side by side without unifying naturally of their own devices.
