She obviously hasnt heard of NDAA or she hasnt heard of a k**l list..People get mad and wanna say stuff on facebook.People need to stop using those keywords....You guys are using all of those keywords, just not in context. Their keyword sensors are probabaly goin nuts. A guy from Charleston s.c. called 911,actually it was his wife and she said her husband was gonna off ohbomba...no key words used lol..he was arrested, probably was released shortly after ,they hate bomba down here...my friends dont like either. The racist crap was getting on my nerves, I kept telling them that there are plenty of actual factual proven things that we know he has done so no need for the"hes a muslim, socialist.kenyanite, not for america, wheres the birth certificate, shawn hannity said this oreilly said that"....Im not saying its true or not,I dont know but was tired of hearing it..

who needs police cameras on every block, when they are monitoring you in your own home.

If they were putting camera's in every room of every house with microphones as well, that's considered monitoring you in your home. When you put something on the internet, it's everyone's business. There is no anonymity or privacy on the internet, people should know this. There's nothing you can do about it except not use the internet, simple as that.

It amazes me that people do not realize this.

In Stalins USSR wise people kept a photo of Stalin on their walls lest they be accussed of plotting against their leader.
Freedom of thought is ours to enjoy..but speaking against your leader is and has always been treason.

Soon no forums will be deemed by law to be private...so all of us who are loose with our opinions should heed the past when we plan for the future.
I love PM Gillard.. President Obama...Netantyu..David Cameron...and hang their pictures on my wall...just left of the dart board.
But seriously the net is just that.
In the old days people whispered now they scream.

I "like" how she called him (or anyone else for that matter) a n***r IN PUBLIC - then adding that she'd like to see him assassinated - and is entirely perplexed why people call her "racist". Just wow... this doesn't really have to do with free speech.

If this was against free speech, millions of people would have been already arrested and sites been shut down..because there was certainly a LOT of heated debates going on especially in the last week. But calling someone a n*** and then making such a statement as well goes beyond free speech, IMO.

While I don't agree with arresting people for racism, this assassination comment was not a wise thing to make.

I have just been appalled by reading some of the racism since Obama got elected. Really really disgusting stuff I'm not going to post here but will leave you with a link to a whole series of twitter comments if you want some evidence.

Link

And the right were saying during the campaign "it has nothing to do with him being black"

Riiight.

People saying any sort of assasination things is definitely not wise, but about the racism thing, it just doesn't make sense.. How can people be racist against a person that is 50/50 something.. unless they hate themselves too..
Personally, I don't understand how Mr. Obama can be half white, but then always be called black.. Are people so racist against whites that they feel the white half of him is irrelevant? When I look at Mr. Obama I never feel anything against his race since to do so, I would be racist against myself..

I'm not an Obama fan ... even in the smallest degree. I abhor his foreign policy and endless drone campaigns. I post a lot of anti-war sentiment on FB (along with many other political topics and I criticize both parties as I think they're both corporate sellouts). Political rants are almost a daily fixture on my page ... not even sure what the point is anymore but I digress ...

Even so, I'd never dream of actually threatening the President or any other incumbent or any human being for that matter. I wouldn't even think about threatening the President let alone speak it. Not only because it's illegal but because I find violence to be hasty, pointless, and devastating.

What on earth was this girl thinking?
How is this the answer to ANYTHING?

Good grief.

There we go, wishes and hopes are illegal now.

If that is so then you will find a whole lot of people being arrested soon. For things like saying I hope Obama fails, or I hope the wars stop, or I hope people quit working at a particular company. Stop the passing around of thoughts! Do it now!

If you think saying I hope the wars stop, people quit working at a company, ect. is the same as threatening someone else's life, you've got some problems bro. Saying you hope the wars stop and saying you hope the POTUS is killed are two entirely different things.
You're comparing apples to oranges now.

"I hope the wars stop"

or

"Im going to stop the wars today. That threat you can bank on!"

??

I hope someone gets cancer and dies painfully... I did not threaten this act, nor do I have any power over it.

I certainly have no power to inflict cancer. But, if wishes were horses...

No matter how you spin it, she still made a threat against the POTUS and she's still being investigated because of it. It's the exact same thing as saying I hope someone brings a bomb on our plane or I hope so-and-so gets hit by a bus. It's a threatening comment against someone's life.

Learn to read will ya.

"And another 4 years of the ....... maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!"

Where is the threat? Arrested and losing your job for ^ ?

Man, who needs the gestapo.

None of which is the case here.

I love how no one is reading the article or arguing something else, for whatever reason.. interesting.

It's kind of amusing, yet sad that people keep saying a threat was made. What nonsense. As others have said, now hopes and wishes are illegal? I hope your car breaks down tomorrow, I hope someone puts a bullet in his head, I wish you would get cancer and die, I wish your house burned down tomorrow. None of these are threats. They aren't very nice things to say, but we've all said things like that in anger or frustration without really meaning it.

Please get it through your heads, she didn't threaten anyone. How thick can a skull be? Pretty thick going by this thread. Her comments were racist and ugly, but no threat was made to anyone in anyway. It's sad that anyone is even still saying that. Just read what you want to read instead.

I am reminded of a time when I was an adolescent and told my grandfather that I hoped something would happen.

He told me to hold my hopes in one hand and a turd in the other, and to check later to see what I had in my hands.

If we're going to make death threats illegal, then it should either apply for everyone or no-one.

Singling out the president is elitist. I didn't know we had one set of laws for the plebes and one for The Emperor.

What she said was stupid and racist, but last time I checked, being stupid and racist was actually a qualification for congress.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but he isn't the president of the free world. He is the president of the united states of america.

And if you think you're "the free world" or even just think you are "free", then you are wrong. The blurry bits on television to hide text or names are proof. The beeps when someone says certain words are proof. The creationist label in science books are proof. The ultra violence on television is allowed but naked bodies are not. That's proof.

On topic

Isn't it amazing that most assasinations in the US are against people who are good?
Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, TheOther Kennedy, Malcolm X, John Lennon.

OK they tried against Reagan, but there are some nutcases in America as in other countries.

Why anybody would use Facebook anymore is beyond me. It's clear that it's the least private place on the internet.

Makes me wonder how much of the Internet is being monitored without our knowledge. How many of us have set off some alarm for saying something and is now on some special little watchlist.

It's insane that they arrested her. Last I checked you had a right to free speech.

But none of that matters now.

Slowly all your fundamental rights will count for nothing.

So, if you wish someone would get assasinated, you lose your job.

If you actually have people murdered in cold blood, you're re-elected President.

Ain't America great?

I honestly can't believe people are still stupid enough to post a comment on a social networking site about assassinating someone even if it's a joke or whatever, it's pretty much inviting a man in a black suit to come knocking at your door. IMO all social media such as Twitter or Facebook is a tool used by big corporations and government agencies to collect data about people such as your views, like and dislikes, political stance, personality traits etc and used to get an idea about the general collective mood and viewpoints of the nation to make it much easier to manipulate us and easily have access to our private lives without us even knowing, social media is just a huge surveillance tool.

Regardless of what she says, she has the right to say it. From what I saw there was no direct threat against anyone.

"hoping" for someone to die does not = threat

Also I hope she sues the pants of her former employers for firing her over this, and wins.

What she says away from work is her own business

A lot of employees sign a contract, and I know that in the ones I have sighed with my employer, have stated that they had the right to fire me if I were to be arrested. Never happened to me, but one of my co-workers was fire for being arrested.
