My fellow ATS members I've done some serious thinking tonight about the current state of the US. We're in a bad way right now and there's really no way to get out of it.(lord knows OBAMA being re-elected wont help). But that's not what this thread is about. I was listening to a particular song that I think every American should listen to.It matters as much now as it did 20 years ago when it came out.

I won't link the song but I will quote a few lyrics.Read them and let them sink in.

Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

Think about that. And then read this :

D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land

That should make you think too.So should this :

Look at the shoes you're filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

Wake up America.Things need to change and it starts with You and I. The last part makes me quite sad because really,it applies to the rest of the world and not just the US.

I think people are more awake than given credit. You sure sang for the choir, almost literally!

We do it for the money, money is power and corrupts eventually... genocide, fraud and greed... actually, here's some lyrics that sum up what I'd like to say

Every time a leader tries to stand up for our freedom
Someone claps them with the heater their brain and back leaking
A shame their family grieving the only way to see them
Is a displaced dream displayed in a museum

They say they built our nation for a reason
Then they stained it with the bleeding of the slaves that never seen it
I ain’t hating I still want to believe it
And I’m not trying to leave it I just call it how I see it

[Hook]

They haven’t got anything to lose
And they’ve got everything to gain
And they’ll let you know in a minute
It takes two to tango. When I go, you go

I'm going to have to disagree.Perhaps its just my mood tonight but most people are NOT awake. They would rather blame their countries problems on the rest of the world. That's whats bugging me.

I saw steve martin on tv and he said we found out when we realized dope and peace and love don't work...

Well, he found out at any rate.

I hate sellouts.

It's probably a personal thing, but we really don't need all that much. Many of us do need much, though, else they are suffering through not having enough. Nothing worse than having to face the emptiness of self.

I do worry about things like kirtsaeng v. john wiley and sons. That would make it quite difficult to avoid a corporate gig, just to stay alive.
