Personally, I don't want anything to do with a doctor that is in it for the money. Profit is only a motive for denying needed services. Profit should not be allow in the Health Care Industry. It should all be non-profit and that doesn't mean that doctors and nurses and aides and administrators won't be paid well but the well-being of patients should be the primary goal of anyone in the medical profession or industry.

It would lower insurance (health and malpractice), lower costs in many areas and provide a better and more humane standard of care.

What are you so angry about?

Businesses and Industries ebb and flow. We didn't bail out the steel industry and the country didn't collapse. Perhaps it's time for these industries to phase out and new ones to come into their own.

I worked for a time for Hughes Aircraft Company in California in the 80s. At the time it was the largest private employer in California, was a dynamic and union shop. I was there when GM bought it from the Howard Hughes Medical Group/Institute/whatever) and was part of the dedicated staff that bailed on the new masters. The company doesn't exist anymore. It happens a lot these days in search of the super bottom line. Aero-Space is on it's way out - too many parts are manufactured out of the country (a huge security threat) and I doubt we could retool in the event of a real (not proxy/video-game) war.

Why demand everything stay the same - it's insane - change is the only constant in the universe. Yes it's uncomfortable but it is necessary. And if we accept it - we can HELP EACH OTHER through it.

I am so ashamed of the selfishness and hate that has engulfed our country. We have worked hard to move beyond racism and sexism - Why do you want it back. Keep what's good from the past and make it better. Try promising new avenues and be prepared for surprises and set-backs. Learn to change course and flow with the river of history. This is both a terrifying and wonderful time. None of us can do it alone.

That's ridiculous. First you left out the government subsides the farmer gets. Second, he apparently has 800k to invest in his crop each year. Third, he walked away with almost 400k in profit for the year. yeah, he's doing pretty good. he manages his money right and he is a millionaire many times over in about 10-12 years.

Look, I don't give a rats ass how much anyone makes. Good for them. I do, however, have no sympathy for complaining from those making substantially more than I do. I don't begrudge them for what they earn, but if my family is living quite well on 110k a year, they should be doing outstanding.

By the way, if my taxes need to go up, that's fine with me.

Two more possible (probable !) problems with the "Device Tax" are:

1. Device shortages.

2. Device "Rationing" via death panel.

Death Panels by default.....very clever move by the ObamaCare language.

I was wondering when "death panels" would show up in this nonsense. Death panels have always existed whit every insurance company. When you are beholden to your stockholders above all else, the patient suffers. That's the real problem with healthcare in America. For profit insurance. There's your death panels.

If this is a surprise to ANYONE, then they are willfully ignorant or just living under a rock in BFE.

This was stated it would happen.

America, what have you done to yourself.

We are screwed as a nation.

Change is always painfull. Down the road it will become the new normal, and companies will hire and fire in line with demand for their services and products, to expand or decrease operation according to the demand they face and nothing else.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE COMPANIES CITED REASONS UNRELATED TO OBAMACARE AND ANNOUNCED LAYOFFS MONTHS AGO THAT IS FACT. GOP = BS

That all makes sense. Think about it, if a company is running with the minimum workforce required for operation and most companies are run efficiently in that regard with few spare hands, then it would make no sense to fire anybody unless keeping a worker means a net loss. Only because a worker costs you a little bit more you do not fire him, unless you have a net surpluss, else you just dont lose the bit extra you pay on obamacare, you lose the profit that worker produces. So there must be other reasons for the layoffs, like decreased demand.
edit on 14-12-2012 by Merinda because: (no reason given)

Yes, the march to socialism is painful. Or Marxism.
To think that the new normal is higher costs for those with HI, higher taxes paid by people, the Govt being able to force people to buy stuff and the norm of high unemployment .
I stand by my statement.

America, what have you done.
WE are screwed.
