It is easily fixed by inflation. Thats how all past countries in our situation did it. The only problem is that the next step is total collapse

Between squashing unions buying politicians and exporting labour those who have the means to turn a profit got better and better at keeping money in their own pockets and out of the economy.

The problem isnt communism, capitalism is choking on its own success.

Congratulations you produce with hourly wages of under a dollar abroad and at home you save money with interns. You have all the money. But guess what, the more capitalists get out of paying good wages the less workers have money to spend on products.

Just an honest attitude-free question for the OP . How do you think Romney would have fixed the deficit or led it in the right direction before we all face economic collapse? I really believe that at this point all presidential candidates are all pretty much the same. They all argue over petty differences but when it comes down to it, none of them have any concrete plans on decreasing inflation or moving our industry to sustainable practices.

Excellent post and I completely agree. I never thought I'd say this about America be it needs to be said: LET IT BURN.

It's far too late to save these fools from themselves. Work hard for yourself and family, prepare, and be ready for the collapse. When the time comes, you can sit in relative comfort while the O-sheep eat each other in the streets. I had no illusions that Romney would correct our course but I believed he would prolong the collapse somewhat. In many ways, having Obama reelected made things easier - it WILL collapse much sooner and be more dire. Sometimes a cleansing fire is needed and those of us who provide and know how to work hard will rebuild America from the ashes.

It's sad, critical thinking is a rare thing now a days in this country. People don't question what they read, they don't research topics enough. They would rather watch Kim Kardashian, sit on their couch and eat ingest Mercury as their brains turn into liquid #.

It's going to take a back handed slap from the Military to these Obama and Romney supporters to finally wake them up. But that's the tragedy you see, it's too late.

Dear Camareo68ss. Now that was a sweet car. I can see you're pretty worked up about this, and I happen to agree with you on that debt issue. It seems pretty large. But the game is not over just because it can't be sustained. No don't have to be sustained, just has to be current. It's going to tricky, and there is going to have to be a lot of give. Some of our international creditors may have to accept reductions in their holdings. This could represent a contribution to the cost of world security and being the consumer of last resort, in the way of a payment to the United Sates who has been footing the bill all these years. Who knows. They'll figure it out. They have to it's in their best interest.

I was rather taken by your attack on the nanny state. I think that's cute but I expect rather a lot more out of my state than my nanny could ever give me. Your representation of entitlements takes me aback to. I prefer to reference it as government administered retirement and healthcare. And your claim that these are the cause of ruin seem to me to be a bit lop sided You seem to forget a few things, unfunded wars, unfunded tax cuts, and a draw down of surpluses in the retirement fund, i e social security, and massive giveaways to private pharmaceutical companies. and now it's the lazy bums that don't want to work that's the problem.

First of all and most practical is to look at this as an economic issue, if you believe in that kind of thing. Sure let's just yank 80% of Social security and medicare spending. Take it right out circulation. This is not going to be good for economic stability, let alone growth. So I'm thinking that's not our first option and if we really want to keep this thing afloat, and that's up for debate, is to realize that the pendulum of income distribution has swung to the few far enough and by necessity and for the sake of the system on which we all depend, the distribution needs to flow to the many. I suggest this be done through higher wages. This is simple, direct and I think we all know will be effective.

In the end I don't readily agree with your assessment that most economic activity is doomed and all that is left is the few at the top counting their stacks of paper and digital 0"s, trying not to be messed on by that squalor they call the crowd.

If we are all wise, we will recognizes there is a way and and redistribution is at it's heart. The market may be free and that's the way it should be, but not always evenly balanced and that we have to look at.

I just find it a little sad. that we want to attack the most vulnerable and those with the least resources demanding they take responsibility for the raid on the treasury. I think you need to rethink this and realize that failure to fund economic activity, be it private or government, wages or social programs, is not a solution

I just don't see what the big fuse is about socialism??? In many aspects Canada is a socialist nation. Look at our health care system. Here in Alberta I pay roughly 450.00 bucks a year to Alberta Health and I'm covered for just about everything. Plus on top of that I have health insurance from work which covers the rest.

You can't really compare the healthcare system of 34 million to a healthcare system that has to support 320 million. That is roughly 10 times the amount of people. Any shortcomings of such a system would be magnified by 10 times as well.

No offense to you OP, but I've been a member of this site for around seven years (lurked a bit before even registering) and during that time I've read the exact same doom and gloom 'end of America' rhetoric when George Bush Jr. got his second term from the Left.

Some truly terrifying predictions of the end of America at the hands of a 'warmonger' and his out of control spendaholic cronies that drink blood, worship devils, planned to shred our freedoms using 9/11 and the Patriot act, and have remote control sex slaves that yearned for freedom and the chance to expose this insidious cabal of the NWO to the American citizens before the great resource wars mapped out by the PNAC came to fruition!!!

We're still here and Bush is gone.

We'll be here after Obama leaves office, and we'll see the same sort of thing said about the next President. It's an obvious cycle if one even gave it a cursory look-over without partisan bias.

Everyone fears that the opposition will doom the Country they love, but this is the democratic process. It's what makes America what it is. It always goes through changes, and it should because that's a part of life. People say that those voting for Obama are traitors and it just makes me wonder how much those same people sound like the same 'fascists' they despise. They want to suppress voices that don't agree with their own, not respect and acknowledge them.

Be brave, accept defeat, respect our constitutional republic, and wait untill the next Presidential election.

I just dont know how they plan on keeping me safe with our forces spread so thinly around the world and a police reaction time of 10-20 minutes too late in our local cities. I would be dead if I left my protection up to the govt.

They wont ever come home - the govt thinks you are a helpless fool that needs protection from a thousand miles away by people who get eye-raped if they even think about comming close to an airport(while they cope a feel on grandma). And they will continue to lie about everything while their supporters cheer their names in the hopes of history remembering them in a glorious manner- regardless of truth.

All else that stand in the way- will be cast for all blame and will gain nothing of any real value. Despair and helplessness is what the people will feel when the real world smashes down on their Truman Show.

To tell them they are screwing up by supporting his criminal actions is like trying to tell a dog to wipe its ass with TP instead of dragging ass on the lawn. They just turn to you with a dumbfounded look on their face, uncapable of understanding.

Case In Point- Obama is still president because of party whores-denial--racial pride- party infighting- and a true lack of understanding of the destruction he has already brought upon us. All while being happy that they did.

Actually, I see the collapse of Western Civilization, specifically America, as a possible opportunity for the world to actually have a CHANCE at an enlightened society.

I used to really dislike America, because although the standards of living are higher here than many other places, we've paid a bloody, messy, and deceptive path to get here. We've fought in, and started wars, and occupied countries all for self-serving purposes. America in the 21st century became a military industrial complex, where people are basically just numbers (society security numbers) sort of like batteries, we all get jobs, and pay taxes, and that goes to funding the new world order, or globalization, or whatever you choose to call it.

I see our society as dysfunctional, and although I once couldn't see WHY things got so bad, I sort of understand now. I believe our country was a stepping stone, in the evolution of man. Mankind is sort of like an open source project. In order to get a Utopia, or an Enlightened society, different things needs to be tried. Trial and error.

If we wish to move on to the next level of human evolution, then either America is going to have to drastically change at an exponential pace, or the infastructures will simply need to collapse. Only then will the possibly of a "New World" emerge.


Like a pheonix rising from the ashes, the old ways are dying, so that new ways can manifest.

Hey OP. Wait up there a moment.

Given it was capitalism that has taken America to where it is now, over more than a century - and you can see how that has worked out - I can't see how socialism could make things worse.

Unfortunately though, dictatorship is much more likely in America before that happens. Because the elite are not going to bow out quietly. They would far prefer something along the lines of Stalinism, i.e. totalitarianism. And no, once Stalin took control of the Russian revolution the outbreak of socialism in that nation was smartly killed off.

Socialism in a single state, doesn't work. Maybe that is what you mean by a 'descent'?

But, if there were socialist states - around the world - the means whereby economies could be rationally planned and managed scientifically, by the people for the people, and not from the top down, then you would be on to what socialism really means. Where human need is served, rather than the greed of the 1%. International trade as a means to distribute resources equitably to all the people of the earth.

That would be a hell of a step up from where we are all at now, with the elites in each nation state fighting tooth and claw to profit through their corporations.

For the elites, who are still attempting to preserve their privileged positions, controlling all at the present time, world war is the next step That is, since they have exhausted their markets, and are well on their way to bleeding the working class through cost cutting like slashing wages, social services, and infrastructure maintaince - not to mention raising taxes. Guess who are going to be sent off to fight their big dirty war that puts money in their banks and keeps the unhappy protesting masses everywhere from uniting, and instead killing off each other? Not the elites.

Socialism has to be a step up from all of that, doesn't it?
