This is why I have a problem with liberals,
Their mean, even when they win.
After Mitt Romney lost the 2012 election last night, hundreds of Ole Miss students, according to Gawker, gathered to exchange racial epithets and violent, anti-Obama chants. In addition to saying not so nice, anachronistic things about people who aren't the same skin color as them, the students reportedly threw rocks and burned an Obama sign.

Well it seems that ATS has the most intelligent people on earth, but even these people can agree on most anything. So my question is if the most intelligent people on earth can't find away to get along with each other how to you expect republicans and democrats.

I bet she's white and angry that Obama won.
Gotta love how the true colors of people come out over time. Plenty of people on ATS have denied being racist but I bet they hide it well.

The original poster was targeting liberals with their title and opening post. I actually reported it but the mods did not see anything wrong with it.
It just proves that ATS as a whole is biased against liberals.
I blame Fox News, WND and all the other fanatical right sources for this hysteria.
It's not too far from the red-baiting of the 1950s. This time, it's Rush Limbaugh and not Joseph McCarthy leading the charge.

I graduated from the George Carlin School of Political Discourse.
I met someone and we seemed to be clicking fine until she went off on a rant about Obama. I tried to change the subject and she proceeded to say that I was "wrong" for not thinking that the U.S is becoming more socialist, blah blah blah.
You can't reason with people like that. They'll turn around and play the victim and claim that you're suppressing their opinions when in reality, they're insulting your intelligence without much of a care.

...Although I lean towards liberal policies, the liberal attitude of being the only ones with the correct view gets to me.
There are some issues with liberals that could be addressed, the most important one being the fact that a strong family structure (including gay marriage) is something that helps the middle-class. In addition, they are very intolerant of individuals with different viewpoints.
As I said before, I agree with a lot of liberal views, especially their tendency to work with scientific evidence and their work towards a society where everyone can live in comfort.
That said, if the conservative party was able to completely re-think their outdated viewpoints, and come up with a positive message about what they wanted to happen while still working with existing social programs and accepting reality, I think they could make a strong case and come out looking as the more progressive party.
They might think this is not possible, but if they took the time to thoroughly understand liberal policy instead of being afraid of it, they might be able to make adjustments to it in some way that could benefit our nation.

Why civility? Because it would be nice to argue a position with levity and grace rather than name calling and teeht baring. It is my hope that people tone it down a bit, due to hos quickly things are escalating. I want to watch it all happen, but I am starting to feel that direct participation is helping no one.
