So I spent the past 4 hours dealing with a "ransom virus" aptly named the Fbi has a webpage was going to link it, but decided not to cause all I would hear is all the conspriacy comments about how the FBI planted it.

The message says your pc have been locked for downloading illegal media, and other nonsense so after trying malabytes, and finally spybot finally got rid of it.

Beware free antivirus sucks was using AVG free so I went back the tried and true Kapersky that I never had any problems with.

If you haven't been hit with it that is great, but it is a pain to get rid of if it's not that hackers trying to get 200 bucks off its the malware, and adaware software sellers trying to make a buck off you.

If you see any of these images below in this link it is a HOAX.

Yea its definitely a virus....easy to get rid of...just restore your computer to an earlier point....I have removed it off many computers and system restore seems to be the easiest way to get rid of it.....that and deleting any registry entries it might have created

No it is not the real deal.

As if the Fbi would lock your computer, and make a person pay a measly 200 fine ?

They would come to a persons house guns out with swat and take it or take you to court.

Someone pretending to be the Fbi and banking on the stupidity of a person.

Lol I got that virus. Just had to reboot in safe mode with networking and googled "fbi virus" and there is a tiny program that gets it cleaned for ya.

I got this virus(admittedly, from watching porn) but all I did was reboot in safe mode and just run scans and restore to an earlier time.

4 hours on something like that?!?
