You just don't get it, do you? This is why Obama ultimately won, people like you and your "damn the rich for having money" mentality, espoused while having ZERO clue about how businesses run. You think the economy was bad before? Just wait, it's about to get a whole lot worse.

It's actually YOU who appear ignorant. Companies that lay off people because they are too scared about the economy are the problem.

What this country needs to do is to reject companies that lay off people because of who is in office and start supporting companies that hire when times are tough and have actually expanded their business during a recession.

We should track companies that lay off employees because of who is in office and boycott their products and services and give that business instead to their competitors who aren't trying to make a political statement with people's jobs.

No, the economy will recover, it has already started to recover, it's time that people help this recovery along instead of trying to hijack the political process by artificially stagnating the economy over petty political differences.
Are you really ignorant enough to think this has anything to do with making some BS political statement? Really, you believe that crap?

Companies are laying off people because they have to have the money to pay the higher taxes that are coming down the pipeline from Obama (particularly in the form of Obamacare).

Um...seriously?

I don't have time to give you a complete lesson on the economics of it, but basically, the oil speculators are moving based on the perceived outcome that Obama's second term brings.

That effect is getting amplified by the current taxes on the gas.

Now, if Obama sits on his hands, or is forced to sit on his hands, the speculators will settle. But, that is highly unlikely at this point, as the US administration needs to do something, right or wrong, something.

I don't see how there can be an US Economic Recovery with $1,000,000,000,000+ deficits and $16,000,000,000,000 debt expected to climb to over 20 trillion.

Its an easy answer to just print more money. It shuts people up for the short term until they realize everything in their life is more expensive. Then they complain about corporate greed raising prices. Its just ignorance at its best.

You can't have fake money and free products and expect the world to keep turning. When they can no longer print money and create fake wealth to keep voters happy they'll send all of you to your death overseas.

The thing you have to remember is that economic recovery is generated primarily by confidence.

Even a continued 1% reduction in deficit can provide the confidence boost required to get things going.

Now, that won't fix the problem, but it can start a chain effect that can mitigate damages until a fix can be implemented.

So, if, in January, Obama and Congress sit down and put together a budget with a smaller deficit than last year, the future may brighten substantially. Problem is I just don't see Congress and Obama playing nice.

I didn't vote so I didn't affect anything. But when was the last time you saw a CEO take a pay cut to save jobs? It goes both ways....instead of laying people off maybe they should regulate pay. That's what ford is doing now and they are bouncing back nicely ...and don't twist my words into thinking I want socialism but it's a businesses choice to lay people off. But if the president/owner/CEO really cared about their employees he would make some sacrifices first before he fires people

It’s their money. If they don’t want to spend it, they don’t have to.

But I guess that is the problem right there. You believe they shouldn’t be allowed to do what they want to with their own money. You believe they should be forced to do with it what you, and the government want them to do.

You know what government controlled(but not owned) business is?

Interesting to see how people spin this. For those wanting more information.

The company is in internet technology, 2 years old, with 200+ employees. The people making this decision I know support Obama on social issues but they also run a business. The company has seen huge growth in the past 2 years and has a lot of investment.

The budget process happens in October but announcements were delayed till the morning telling me that they did wait for the election.

The decision to cut the department I am in will not impact our ability to deliver and sell services but it does indicate a decision to cut expenses and slow the growth of the company which means they have a negative outlook on our growth and expect the margins to narrow.

Those are just the facts. The company isn't run by a gun-toting Republican yelling at Obama supporters, quite the opposite in fact.

Does your company do political clients? because there will be a sharp drop in super-pac spending, sometime about yesterday.

When everyone is making money, businesses make more money. Sooo when people have no money specially when they are all getting shipped overseas, they keep cutting jobs.....makes sense

I have heard of many companies and businesses that have threatened and are now seemingly following through with layoffs and shut downs in the event of four more years with Obama. That type of behavior will make the "economic collapse" that people are ranting about self fulfilling prophecy.

If any of these companies have laid off because of the fact that Obama won, and it's out of revenge and can be proven, everyone can file a class action suit, I heard of one company sending a memo that if he were to win they'd lay people off, it's called voter intimidation, it's illegal and if I were their employee there'd be copies of that memo sent to every government agency under the sun and one to the WH, then I'd find a lawyer if they laid me off with my memo in hand. Let these bastards all be taken down if this memo wasn't a hoax, it's hard to tell anymore.

He supports small business it's the big ones that are crying like sniveling spoilt children.

He has a lot of plans to help the small business if You knew anything at all, you'd know that.I know small business owners and they all wanted Obama. They even voted for him.

You just stated right there that the entire point of the layoffs is because of potential higher taxes due to politics. It has nothing to do with actual tax rates or the health of the economy, it has everything to do with politics.

Exactly, and I don't have to support companies and businesses that are too scared of doing business. With business comes risk, and if you are too scared of that risk, you have no business in business.

But I guess that is the problem right there. You believe they shouldn’t be allowed to do what they want to with their own money. You believe they should be forced to do with it what you, and the government want them to do.

That's not what I said at all, and that's not what I believe. I said we should boycott businesses that are laying off people just because Obama is elected. Why should I support a business that is to terrified of risk to actually do business? Instead, I'll take MY money to businesses that hire people and aren't brainwashed by the conservative disinformation network that actually invest in this country and expand their business despite the risk.

You know what government controlled(but not owned) business is?

Fascism.

And this came out of right field and has nothing to do with anything I said. The ignorance shown here is palpable.

Anyone who thinks the economic revovery would be better or worse with Romney or Obama is just fooling themselves. They may get the credit or the blame and have to clean up the messes that are created but, they really have no power to effect anything.

And there is the golden ticket...economic collapse is coming, regardless of the health reform regardless of anything IT IS BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF MORTGAGE LOANS AND RESELLING THEM that started the ball rolling, with Romney we'd have seen people eating wallpaper because he wants to cut all safety nets at least with Obama we'd not be eating wallpaper because he'll supply the safety nets. But make no mistake the collapse was coming no matter who took office. Simply because other countries lost favor to US dollar because Of the mortgage loans reselling when they were'nt going to get that money back.

Wow, really it does not take rocket science, to understand many corporations, and small companies are going to have layoffs

aka business owner, because people are to dumb and stupid to realize the RICH do not work!!!!! Obviously none of this matters to the dumb jackass's that re-elected a liberal, most of these idiots that voted for Obama, are under 30 years old and have no damn idea who they are how the World works, or economics for that matter..

Are you really that uninformed?

No repeal of obmamcare; higher energy prices due to more regulation; higher taxes; ect. etc, etc.

The American people have basically handed the country over to destruction.

No chicken little I am not that uninformed. The sky is not falling in my world.

However, clearly your world is.

What you stated are not legitimate reasons to fire employees.

Hey look out! There's a big fluffy cloud coming your way! Duckkkkk!!!

Typical liberal response. When one cannot refute facts, attack or belittle the opponent.

That fluffy white cloud isn't what it appears to be. But I am sure it will be raining on your parade.

I'll be honest. I could be talking out of my butt here, but this seems stupid.

Why would a company start firing people the day after an election because of "what is coming"? Why can't they keep people employed until the actual changes take effect and wait to see how it is directly affecting their business? Not a projection of what MIGHT happen, but waiting to see what ACTUALLY happens when it does happen.

I don't own a business so maybe I'm wrong. It just seems like businesses aren't using common sense.

I tend to listen to what the business people are saying, rather than policy wonks.

And I own 2 busineses and employ 9 people. I don't have the luxury of believing idealogical BS about economics, BS costs money...same goes for my fortune 500 clients. The only layoffs directly related to this election are at the Romney campaign.

I didn't vote for Romney...but good luck with that.

I live in reality and it constantly changes. I see bad times ahead...but that's just me. I hope I'm wrong. But I don't think so.

Good luck with that...keep cheerleading doom and destruction...and the rest of the country will keep growing the economy.

Keep growing the economy

Now that I have had a good laugh, may I ask what kool-aid you are drinking? The economy is flat as a pancake and the prospects for improvement are all but non-existant.
