Hey guys. I've been creeping this site for about two years now. I was contently just observing and generally enjoying my time. Well, it's about time I finally joined, so let me introduce myself: My name is Jay Buckley, I'm 28, living in Ontario, Canada, and work as a mailman.
So with that said, I will dive into my first thread.
First of all, I want all of you to know that when it comes to American politics, I consider myself fairly ignorant. I thought that another four years with Obama would be a positive thing for my southern neighbors.
So please enlighten me...Why should I hate Obama? He seems like a good enough guy. So tell me, what am I not seeing.
Every single person I know supports Obama, so you could see why I am inquiring.

**Mod Note**
Hi, I'm one of the many ATS Mods here at the forum. We appreciate you joining up with the ATS Family.

We have a very strict code in place for our members to adhere to which helps keep the machine 'running smoothly'. One of these is that members need to post their thoughts in the appropriate areas.

You posted what could be a very interesting topic in the "Introductions thread". This area is solely for introducing yourself (as you can see by browsing through other Introduction threads by new members). We apologize for this inconvenience, but its a necessity for a website as large as ours. After you have managed to get 20 posts under your belt, you can then start your own threads in their appropriate areas.

You can contact me by a private message for more information if needed after you have read the links provided in my last post. Or you can also contact staff by alerting them here Complaints and Suggestions

Hello and Welcome.

As a fellow Canadian, I can present you with how I view this fallout.

Its not really a matter of hate, but differing of opinions.

As a Canadian I see Obama's policies, being more liberal, as resembling our own here in Canada and the GOP’s policies are almost Alien in Canada, thus your confusion on the matter is not unique. From my experience, there has always been and will continue to be a strong divide among the RED and BLUES, something we just do not see in our own politics. Dont get me wrong, Canadian politics can be heated, but the US is a different animal entirely.

I am not suggesting who is the best fit for America, there are literally hundreds of other threads that go into that, but American politics are quite different then our own.

Enjoy your time.

Welcome to ATS.

I don't hate the guy. Hate is a strong word. But the reason I didn't vote for him, is because he's never fought a war. He knows nothing about the military and what they do overseas. He's hellbent on keeping his past a secret. Won't release his college transcripts, won't release his birth certificate, no other president has had a problem with that. He thinks he's above the law and knowing disrespects a judges order to appear in court. If the guy can't set the example of just appearing in court, then why should the people follow?

I didn't like either candidate choice. I wanted to vote for Ron Paul, but I didn't and I gave Romney the vote instead because I knew it just down to those two anyways.

None of the other presidents have been scrutinized or asked to prove their birth rights before.
Someone how people want Obama to prove his stuff, because he is different?

Speaking for myself only.. It's not that I hate him. Yes, he's an a##hole, but no more of one than Bush was, Clinton was, and Romney would have been. What truly bothers me though, is how many people I know willingly ignore his faults and blatant lies simply because there's something about him that makes them want to love him.

If you're really coming from an uninformed place though, I can break it down.. Basically, he's continued the practices that everybody had so despised about Bush. He has proven his loyalty to the banks and wall street. He has continued the war on our civil liberties, and has advanced it by extending the patriot act (something he campaigned on repealing), and signing the NDAA into law (which permits the government to detain american citizens indefinitely, without charge or trial). He has continued and even intensified the federal war on marijuana, something he campaigned on backing off on. He has continued a foreign policy of arrogance and aggression, through extended predator drone strikes, killing hundreds of civilians in countries that we're not even technically at war with. If I'm forgetting any major points, I encourage other members to contribute to this list..

All in all, he's continued business as usual. Which, again, is why I say that I don't hate him. But for whatever reason, he makes so many people want to ignore all of these things and give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe because, like you said, he seems like a good guy. He's just so cool! But that's what pisses me off. We can't get anywhere if people don't even recognize that he's no different than all the jackasses who's allegiance to the corporations and war profiteers have gotten us into this mess.

Canadian here as well, lol. I like Obama, I think his policies are more inline with Canada's. Although some new Canadian policies are quite suspect.
For me, I think back to about 3 to 4 years ago when the reds got control of the house and nothing got done. They have control of the house now and this puts the reds in a bit of a pickle. Choose to work with the administration and salvage at least some of their reputation or go back to the same old stuff (which hasn't worked well for them as seen last night). My hope is that the reds will choose to work as one cohesive unit with the blues to solve the issues of the day (ie. the fiscal cliff, etc.)

A better question would be, why do Canadians and people from around the world give Obama a pass on all the things they supposedly hated Bush for? Why are we supposed to judge Obama by different standards? Is it because he's black? Is it because he's a Democrat?

I think we do not see Bush and Obama as same. Probably because we are not biased(unlike American exaggerate things for the part they hate), since the election has no effect on us, but being the closest country, we can see everything that is going on.

What Bush did was much worse and no way close. Obama did go off course and had patterns like Bush but not the same intensity.

And Bush had a good America handed to him when he came to office, compared to a economically fudged America for Obama.

Liked Clinton, Hated Bush, Like Obama, don't know who is next, and I only learned about democrat/Republic in 2008.

Well then a better question would be why do republicans hate Obama so much if he is carrying out the same policies as Bush did? You would think the hate would be less hostile since the policies are pretty much the same right?

because he is a reactionary radical

his mentors and choice of friends & peer group and lifestyle associations are of a narrow group of 60s revolutionaries, weather-underground radicals (if not social/political terrorists & thugs)
his shady dealings with ACORN. Etc. speaks volumes of this man who does not share the consensus values of the majority of the people in America

all he wants is to deconstruct the barriers that exist between the affluent and the useless eaters that have a single purpose of voting in a very contrived 'democracy'... he is intent on redistributing the wealth and downgrading the quality of life for every American who is not part of his clique of elites

this is witnessed by the fact that fast & furious and the Benghazi-gate assassinations are sluffed off as inconsequential to his visions of how to achieve his world model... we are just bateria like lifeforms to the CIC Øbama

Maybe because he is a habitual liar, all of his promises he renigged on as soon as he took office,he is marching the US into socialism, the canucks might like him, because they are socialists, allowing GMO foods to be sold ,he doesn't care about Americans, only lining his pockets with gold,we are screwed, plus he is the biggest war monger in history,we are in conflicts all over the world,we are screwed

He's not worthy my hate.

Disgust . . . abject disgust

Because of his being

--a grossly hostile traitor to the Republic, our founding values and way of life.
--a satanic globalist dedicated to destroying the republic and establishing a satanic Marxist/globalist world government on the literal ashes of the USA

--a ragingly out of control Narcissistic Character Disorder of grandiose proportions and destructiveness

--a chronically pathological liar

--a political Muslim intent on furthering Sharia law and all its horrors

--a creature hostile to Christianity and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

--a homosexual who has his former partners murdered if they risk getting in his way at all

--a Kenyan who hates America

--a bitter ATTACHMENT DISORDERED mean-spirited vengeful pile of anger and hostility to all that's good

. . .

for starters.
