Good question. Wasn't pleased by either one, figured who the election was going to anyway. It was too obvious. Mr. Romeny may be a good businessman and all that, but he never really looked like he was connecting with the people.

How much of that overspend is due to poorly arranged contracts between government and private enterprise I wonder. In my nation we loose tens of billions per department of government, so I wonder if your nation might have the same or similar issues.

My friend, you have no clue do you. Let me explain how this works. Nothing is poorly arranged. Lets say you're a friend of a friend who wants to start a factory making some kind of green energy thingy. I use my position in the government to get you a loan for 500 million dollars. You open a factory and hire some people. You and some of your friends run the company. Naturally you have to be paid. Even though the company is losing money you pay yourself a few hundred thousand a year plus huge bonus. You also decide that it would be a good thing for the company to donate a few hundred thousand to my reelection campaign. After a couple of years all the money is gone, and the company goes bankrupt. And even though this gets repeated hundreds of times amounting to billions of dollars, it's really small potatos compared to the real government waste.

Coming soon, blown up Damascus

Source

“This message came to me concerning Damascus: ‘Look, Damascus will disappear! It will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer will be deserted. Sheep will graze in the streets and lie down unafraid. There will be no one to chase them away. The fortified cities of Israel will also be destroyed, and the power of Damascus will end. The few left in Aram will share the fate of Israel’s departed glory,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Isaiah 17:1-3 (NLT)

These opening verses paint a bleak picture. The city of Damascus will become a heap of ruins, utterly destroyed. Few, if any, buildings will be left standing. The once great city will be devoid of human life and will become home to all manner of wildlife in the absence of humans to chase them away.

It is pretty much the foreign policy of most western countries. Back both sides of all conflicts wars, drugs etc.
Get the government to fund the fight against the "BAD" people. At the same time sell the arms or help traffic the drugs for our so called enemies. No money can be made in a free society where drug use is legal. Much more money can be made in any military conflict if you sell arms to both sides. Then after the conflicts we loan money to the war torn nation "to rebuild" but with clauses that they must use certain companies for the rebuilding. Putting said country in massive debt with no actual contracts going to its own people.

Drugs were sold to Americans to pay for war's the government wanted, money from these sales of drugs in the US were used to support conflict, where men women and children died in earnest.

They were civilians...

So where the innocents exposed to crack coc aine for the first time in the US inner-cities

Any thoughts?

I am not really sure what kind of reply you want from me. This kind of behavior from our governments is not surprising at all. When you get rid of ridiculous campaign funding, lobbyists, ex wall street in government etc. These kinds of problems might be able to be lessened. When you have people in government in positions to make money off these sorts of things, interests in companies, cartels etc. This is the kind of thing we have to expect. I don't have the answers to solve these issues, I do know for sure what we have been doing does NOT work.

Some interesting reading for you. Google the opium production in Afghanistan before the U.S invasion compared to now.

this was the 1st time I actually got into the elections, although i did not vote. If I did it would have been for Obama. Mainly for the reason that he is the lesser of two evils and there was NOT one thing I liked about Romney.

Speaking as a British person, I often wonder how Americans feel when these huge elections, in the most powerful nation in the West, finish. How do you feel about this result? I hear that although Obama won the election, the Republicans did enough to make things hell in the senate, and put stumbling blocks in the way of Obamas plans.

How does it feel to live in America during an election year? How did you find your communities during this process? Were they united or highly divided? I would really love to hear the American ATSers veiw of the process, and of the result, so please...

....Your thoughts?

Good question.

I think most Americans feel a mixture of a sick sense of impending doom along with grateful relief that they don't have to be subjected to the barrage of propaganda and political ads for a few years again.

The impending sense of doom comes in because deep down...every single man, woman, and child in this country knows that it's all a lie. Granted, this is ATS so we are all bit a predisposed to looking for conspiracies. However...the whole country watched the CIA murder a sitting US President in broad daylight in 1963. Even the one's that won't ADMIT it know that deep down it's all one gigantic scam.

On a personal note, I'm very, VERY happy that the more regressive elements of American society mostly lost yesterday. I actually voted for Jill Stein yesterday so it's not like I'm thrilled with Obama...but at least I'm more comfortable that he at least isn't QUITE as eager to start WWIII as what Romney and Netanyahu were.

I voted for Obama in '08 and part wishes that now I'll be surprised and get the Obama that I THOUGHT I had voted for in '08...but I'm not holding my breath.

As for our communities...it's a double-edged sword. Before the election everyone is outwardly hot and bothered, however afterwards the losing side feels like they got cheated somehow and then carries that with them for quite some time. It's bad when EITHER side loses...but the the vast majority of the Republican supporters in this country (Ron Paul and Gary Johnson supporters aside) have just grown...well...MEAN. They are filled with hate, contempt, and petty small mindedness when they WIN...much less when they lose.

Really...the most disturbing thing of it all in my opinion is what sort of impact it's having on our children. When I was little in the late 70's early '80's politics was fairly nasty and scummy...but now it's just beyond ridiculous. Truthfully...I never really thought of it quite that way until this video hit the web.

It just sort of put in perspective for me. It's like subjecting a child to a house where mom and dad are screaming all the time for an entire year. The whole country is just the adults screaming at one another about things that little kids don't even really fully understand.

It's really rather sad.

But at least the Republican leadership is openly evil.

Are you kidding? I thought much of your post made sense till this part. Openly evil? Would you care to be more explicit? How is defending life in the womb evil? How is wanting to even have a budget evil, you know being it is part of the Constitutional requirement? How is wanting people's paychecks to stay in their own pockets instead of going to entitlement spending for illegals who crash the border evil?
My friend it is the Democrat Socialists who are the evil ones and they have tricked half this country into believing their serpentine logic. The Nephilim and the Watchers are judged already.

I personally believe that the voting machines were rigged by Soros and friends, and just enough shaved off the vote to make it appear like a tight race, but the electoral college all going to Obama, were they all paid off too?

My community isn't a utopia by any stretch. In the 80's it was horrible. The oil bust came about 2 years after we had our air force base close. I remember having the same pair of jeans (yes, singular) for 5th and 6th grade. Same shoes, too. Never a shortage of love, though.

Regardless, i have 2 dogs and it was an easy pick for me. Sasha (the one i voted for) doesn't have submissive peeing problems like :Lillie does. She is a special dog. A tender soul. She would crumble in a heartbeat as POTUS. Sasha, though....we named her that because of her "sassy attitude" (as my elder son put it).

Right, the impending doom of running our country over the cliff in seeming slomo but in actuality at high speed velocity. A great trade off for not hearing the ads any more. I guess suicide brings silence too, after the crash. Many people have predicted the collapse.
I cannot say what I think about Americans who voted for that schmuck who is running us over the cliff at high speed., except that they were brainwashed and duped big time.

Have you ever considered that one party being pro abortion, and the other anti abortion, was just a little too convenient? That our fiscal politics somehow has morphed into social politics? That our measly two little parties are polar opposites now on everything except fiscal values?

It has all be created. Out of nothing, for no good reason. Except now....now it is entertainment. We get Team Jacob and Team Edward pitted against each other. Each side is a protagonist and antagonist at the same time, depending on perspective.

And The People are so distracted by the spectacle of the blockbuster franchise, "U.S. Politics" that they have forgotten that it isn't entertainment. And the didn't even notice that this change happened, slowly and over generations.

Our nation was never founded for government to be the deciding factor in our our social issues were resolved. Sure, some may expect that some social issues would be put to rest (abortion may be one, and it likely should be considered murder to willingly abort a child....but another discussion, another day). Our nation was founded so that our government could present a united voice in foreign matters, and money management on a national level. Foreign Policy and Fiscal Management.....that is about all government should do. Congress should be a part time job. They shouldn't really have to have committees to oversee things.

In the world of Hegelian Dialectical reasoning brought to us by Yale University courtesy of attendees at the University of Berlin, where the conflict of two opposing factions brings us a synthesis, as Antony Sutton puts it, neither right nor left, the synthesis as Sutton says is the NWO, a World Totalitarian Nanny State which micromanages our lives for us just llike Big Brother in Nineteen Eighty Four.
That is the world of secular Humanism.

In the world of absolute truth, mass killing of the unborn by a selfish society is to bring the Judgement of the Almighty on us as a nation.

I posted this on another thread too.

I didn't cast my vote for Romney OR Obama, because I think they're both scumbags and that neither one deserve to be in office.

Out of the two, however, I'm a little worried that Obama was elected. You see, Obama cannot be re-elected again after his term is up. He can be reckless now as a result of having nothing to lose.

Romney would have at least had to be cautious if he wanted a chance at a 2nd term, which I'm pretty sure he would have wanted.

The reality is that the 99% of people who voted for EITHER Romney OR Obama were equally brainwashed. Seriously...Americans have been pissed at their entire government since the Vietnam War. How is it even possible people still vote for Dems and Republicans?

We are just a bunch of trained chimps. Plain and simple.

Let us not soil this thread with further discussion of if abortion should be legal or not. No God I would care to follow would cast judgement on an entire nation for the actions of individuals within that nation. I would rather take my chances with Satan, were I Christian, than to continue devotion to a God such as that.

Having said that.....my point is, your views on abortion are irrelevant in the scope of your vote. It is a social issue put there to give our opposing governmental forces something to haggle over. Something to keep The People emotionlly charged with.

You could elect a president that guarantees personally to do away with abortion....and nothing would change unless it was scripted to.

If you could vote in a president to get a law, then it likely would have already happened. Obama couldn't even end the drone strikes and wars he promised to end in this term.

True. That did occur to me too. However...I wonder if an election would have been enough for Romney to keep his cool for four years. After all...the guy is a BISHOP in a church that believes that "god" is a space alien from the planet Kolob and that his magical underpants ward off demonic possession.

Is it really a stretch for Romney to interpret winning an election as a Divine Mandate from Planet Kolob?? People who think "god" has their back have no fear...and there isn't much that's more dangerous than that.

Hmmm also true. I never thought about his religious beliefs sort of giving him the "you're the man 'cause god says you are, and you can do no wrong, cause it's gods will" sort of mentality.
