How Occupy Sandy's Relief Machine Stepped Into the Post-Superstorm Void

November 5, 2012 |
Some were standing, some were sitting, some with their backs to the altar on the thick red velvet cushions that are usually reserved for knees on Sunday morning. Tammy Shapiro, an Occupy Wall Street and Interoccupy organizer, faced several dozen volunteers and organizers who crowded to the front of St. Jacobi's church in Sunset Park for their nightly debriefing. It was Friday, November 2, and Occupy Sandy was wrapping up its third full day of work.

Now this is Happening. Government, Non-Governmental Agenicies, and Religious groups can't make it happen, but We The People can.

This is a taste of the new world that is possible - an organic, emerging world. A world were leaders are truly servants. A truly distributed network, one node working with another for the common good. Putting aside divisions. Yeah, bottom up socialism.

Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination.

Happy Election - VOTE!

Wait.

Occupy has managed to keep their poop in a group enough that they are providing relief aid?

Can't say nothing bad about that.

No, its great. If it does get moved its only because they have a policy of keeping occupy topics in the same section.

Except all those that can!!

.........as if a few dozen "occupy" people of good will are going to save everyone...good on them for doing something - but they aren't any better or worse than the thousands of others who are doing likewise whether because it is their job (Firecrews, etc) or because they are volunteers for various relief agencies or just looking out for their neighbours without needing to be in the news!
