Best of luck to you, your new business, and the crazy amount of regulations! Obama stands for man being slave to the man with the gold and the man is the fed. It's great you support Obama and his $789 billion economic stimulus plan, NDAA, patriot act, cash for clunkers, adding a huge amount of debt, big gov, obamacare (the people who voted for it don't even understand it fully), bush tax cuts, bombing Libya, lying about transparency, didn't reduce earmarks to 1944 levels, bailouts, failed green energy companies, and he has no idea how to stop jobs leaving america but I'm not. I'm glad I've been lucky so far with great career since my school and fraternity have amazing alumni, privileged life, able to go to college, being good at my job, and a loving family but most of my friends haven't been as lucky as me and are pretty much forced to go to grad school. Wait till you start making some good money and see how much goes to taxes.

LMAO the $789 billion economic plan was a ACT OF CONGRESS.. with both dems and rep wanting it to be more but they "settled" for that.. the NDAA ( ya obama) Patriot act ( DUBYA) BUSH tax cuts ( DUBYA) lying about transparency?? really you know what was in the NDAA now don't ya? bombing libya.. ( reb would have us bombing everyone in the middle east) what failed green companies? Lucky you to have a good job and family be blessed...

Romney is the lesser of 2 evils. If Obama gets another 4 years he will destroy our nuclear arsenal to nothing, while the rest of the world does not disarm but increases their own nuclear stockpile. He will destroy the U.S. if he gets another 4 years, without the threat of losing another election he will be able to do whatever he wants without fear of reprisal, his daddy was a russian socialist. Yes the rich will be poorer in socialism, but the poor will get poorer too, and they will then have no opportunities to advance in socialism, and no hope of excelling in life, but will stagnate in despair.

I have to agree with you OP. Respectfully, as i am also Canadian and under no illusions, realizing full well the futility of trying to tell Americans what to do, especially regarding their own elections, so this is simply another outsider's opinion; feel free to disregard it if you so wish.

Basically i echo the OP's sentiments about how scary it would be to see Romney as your President. Am i an Obama supporter? Not particularly, no. When he came into office i had high hopes as i'm sure many people both in the U.S. and abroad did. In my humble opinion a vote for the lesser evil is still a vote for evil, as the saying goes, and i would probably go the third party route myself if the decision were mine (which it is not i realize).

However, if Romney wins i feel as though i would lose a fair amount of confidence in your leaders and become disillusioned with your country and it's ability to be the same once great and noble nation it was. It would i think undermine your credibility and reputation pretty severely worldwide as well. I'll admit i could be way off on this, but those are my thoughts on it at this point.

It would in fact be pretty comical to me from a satirical perspective if it weren't so damn horrifying to realize he may actually have a chance at winning, i cannot emphasize enough how phony Romney comes off to me. It really is astounding and utterly incomprehensible to me to see how (allegedly) close this race is.

In any event, may it all work out for the best, one way or another; whichever way that may be.

Peace. ~

In Romney's 47% worldview, such a thing isn't really considered possible.

The American people have and can do the impossible, and it doesn't matter who's POTUS from that perspective.

I admire your optimism, in fact I'd be interested to talk/PM with you about your idea. I started being an active internet marketer some years ago, I know a lot about marketing, website design, search engine optimization. While not "rich"...I managed it to become an independent entrepreneur making all my money online. So yes, this can work If one is motivated and optimistic. The internet is LIMITLESS in how you can be successful, and most of it doesn't cost anything to get started.

Thank you for your supportive comment, I might just take you up on that and send you a PM. The type of seed capital I'll need to create my product line is ridiculously cheap as would be the initial trial launch of the sales site. It's a whole new world, and I'm going to include average American Joe in it and create wealth without servitude while also generating a flow of cash aimed towards clean water in the third world. With my product people will not only benefit immeasureably from it's use for themselves, but also make money AND help save the world. It'll "heap burning coals upon the head" (proverbs) of corporate crony-capitalism, oh I'm so excited about it, can't ya tell!

For most people around the world and including half of America, a Romney president is actually a horrific thought. Romney himself may not be the issue, but he sure will allow his right wing conspirators run wild with "foreign policy (also known as war)" and allowing the religious wackos push their fundamentalist agendas through our country's law.

In other words, any reasonable person can see the disaster it would be if Romney.

The right wingers can't see it because they are too brainwashed and too pig-headed. But a Romney president would put the US back into the Bush dark ages again.

1.Obama extended the patriot act even though he said he wouldn't
2.Obama's team with meet with lobbyist at caribou coffee, lied about televising meetings about health care, he failed to keep his sunlight before signing, and he hasn't created a "contracts and influence" database to disclose how much federal contractors spend on lobbying.
3. Obama extend the bush tax cuts
4.34 tax payer backed green energy companies have gone bankrupt or laying off workers or heading for bankruptcy.

I love how all these people from different countries come forward on ATS like their opinion on American politics is relevant and they actually know what they are talking about. Until Canadian politics becomes even somewhat relative crawl back into your little hole instead of regurgitating front-page news articles in places like the New York Times.

The international community does have a say because a republican presidency = a war that other countries may have to get sucked into.

Are we not free to express our opinions about a country who's elections will have significant repercussions for the rest of us? You are of course free to vote as you wish. I don't think there is any need to get defensive about it.

Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen so I'm not voting, but I think I express the international sentiment well when I say that we are very concerned about how close this race is, and how close the USA is from potentially bringing back the Bush/Cheney era crazies like Condi Rice (who sat beside Romney during the GOP convention), deregulation, military-inductrial buildup and all manner of crony-capitalism. During the Bush Jr. years, is was like losing an old friend, and now we've seen that friend returning, however slowly the comeback has been. I am aware of the Romney campaign torture memo and it just sent shivers down my spine that one of their first priorities is to bring back the kind of thing that the devil, if there is one is known to specialize in (torture).

We, the citizens of the world want a moderate, friendly and benevolent America, not a domineering one, and we're a little freaked out over just how close this race is, and to be honest, we're at a bit of a loss as to how it could even be that close to begin with.

Romney's a Mormon who ran a "rigged game" at his company Bain Capital, and while that's considered by some to be good business it really doesn't add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things. Regarding his Mormonism and what I've learned about it, that too just creeps me right out the idea of that church being tied right into the highest office in the land.

It's scary - so I'm asking for God to inform the minds of the American people to choose yes what is probably the "lessor of two evils", but by God how stupid can the American people be to think that Romney has the best interests of the average American Joe at heart. He's a big business, ruling elite, crony-capitalist in a stuffed suit, who will cowtow to the lowest demoninators in terms of ruling elite special interest and he's on record stating that a two state solution to the M.E. problem is utterly impossible and hopeless while siding exclusively with Israel. And to top it all off, he's not even that smart from what I can tell.

Please oh God help keep the world safe from the kind of America we witnessed during the Bush/Cheney years, and please keep our individual and collective mutual best interests safe from the pilfering of the rich and greedy. Amen.

wow, you folks have even better pot than i thought up there huh?

seriously. obama is friendly benevolent? tell that to the drone strikes, his kill list, the mexicans killed by fast n furious, all the people who are sick of his class/race/gender warfare.

friendly my ass. that guy does nothing but divide people and turn them against each other.

we the citizens of the US, want the rest of the world to shut up and quit encouraging the downfall of our country under this socialist freaks watch.

and show me how obama has the average joes best interest? by ruining the coal/natural gas industry, regulating millions of jobs out of existence, raising taxes (call obama care whatever you want, its a raise in taxes, not to mention letting bush tax cuts expire means taxes go up). he has done nothing but make wild promises that will never happen. hes as absurd as a middle schooler running for class president promising everyone free chocolate milk from the water fountains, no more homework but all A+'s and students get to tell teachers what to do.

except this isnt middle school, which barry still wouldnt be qualified to be president of, this is an entire country. the most powerful in the world. i pray for the days of Bush/Cheney again.

And I pray for education reform no matter who becomes POTUS, but it's more likely to occur with sufficient investment under Obama/Biden than it is Romney/Ryan.

Edit: Yeah, the BC bud is among the very best in the world, until you legalize it in Washington state (on the ballot, expected to pass), then it will be called Washington bud.

This site is all about different opinions and cultures. As ignorance has no borders neither does the spirit of being human and wanting a world of peace and harmony. Yes every country can have it's own values and cultures but we all live in one world. Comments and thoughts like this are one of the reasons the world is screwed today. Everyone thinks that they are individuals however their actions effect others. I welcome all thoughts if I disagree, so be it. My mind is strong enough to retain my values and opinion. If I am altered by what someone says then how strong was my convictions in the first place. That is the truth.

Threads like this one are not about "just expressing opinions", but they are made in hopes to INFLUENCE the election in the United States...

Ignorance comes from the "belief" that "we can have a One World United, and all can live in peace under such a world government"... That's where real ignorance comes from...

I doubt you have even seen much of the world, and I am not talking just about "vacationing", but living in other countries.

The world is not this "global village" many of you think it is. If such a One World Government was ever formed there would be tens of thousands, if not more, large groups of people, in total billions of people trying to fight against such a One World Government that "believes and wants to FORCE" people to live in your imaginary "world village"...

I am an American citizen, and I would rather Ron Paul was elected than either Obama and Romney.

So are you claiming that Americans are so weak minded that when someone from a different
country speaks ( whether it's the truth or a lie) we cannot logically form or own opinion? As an American the one thing that I will guarantee is that we have never been a weak people. Stupid sometimes but we are strong willed. ATS is a prime example. I have seen plenty threads on each political side. Yet I have never read one post where one caved in to the other's side. If someone can be influenced so easily then they had no conviction in the first place. Why does it upset you that someone who is not in America has an opinion? Are you afraid you might change your views? If you believe that America can exist in isolation then you need to travel more. American has not and never will be an isolationist country. It has always been a destination/combination of other worlds. If other countries did not "put their nose in our business" what would the outcome of the American revolution have been? For America to exist in the future we must first learn to live among ourselves and then learn to live in the world. From your previous post I get the idea that you think you can seperate your world from the universe. Like it or not we are stuck on this ball together. IMO the idea of a future "One World" is a trick by TPTB on the ignorant. The world is already controlled by a chosen few. The fact that some chose to fool themselves by voting for Presidents, Prime Ministers, etc only helps the machine to work better and keep the sheep grazing. Sorry what you fear has already happened many many years ago.

America is predominantly a Christian nation... And Christians don't consider Mormons to be a true Christian religion...

He can't win...
