It's real.

He can't move it like a real arm, though. The technology has a ways to go.

That could be an interesting book to read. There are lots of examples of the big companies over complicating things. I mean, look at windows vista!

Dude I know called Don is missing a hand. He is poor, and the very best thing he could afford was some rubber/latex, non articulate, non poseable, purely visual replacement. Its pretty crap. The fellow is old, and if he had something that he could at least use to grip stuff with, he would be able to dress himself a damn sight easier in the mornings.

Technology will come down in price. Look at computers. If a manufacturer from the 90's wanted to build a computer with the same performance as a modern desktop, it'd probably require millions of dollars. I can't point specifically to the price, but it would be high and the computer would be big. Just as example, I still have a sticker that was on my Packard Bell from 1994. It had 4mb of RAM. I have 3gb of ram now. That's a 1000x increase. Back then, it would have been EXPENSIVE.

But look at how some drugs/pharmaceuticals are overpriced too.....
