I Like Everybody??? It Can't Be!!

This happened about a month ago. My son and I were in line at grocery store, chatting. He leans over and says “I don’t like him.”

He was referring to one of the store managers. I’m in this store like 4 times a week so I know him a little too. I’ve talked to the guy plenty of times and he’s helped me out.

My son spouted off a couple reasons he had for not liking the guy.
I followed with a few reasons why I like the guy.

Son says “Geez Mum you like everyone! What’s up wit that?”

I’m like “What do you meeean?? There are people I don’t like, Whatever…pfft…”

He says “Name 4”

At this point we had our stuff and were pulling over to get organized before we left.

It took me about 30 seconds to name one person. He says ‘Come on MOM we’re standing here til you think of 2 more…”


We stood there another 3 minutes or so. It was very difficult for me. It actually bothered me that I couldn’t do that. The conversation with my son keeps coming up in my thoughts. Not trying to think of more people I don’t like; the conversation and my reaction to it. I guess I just don’t like not liking people… Maybe I somehow repress things like that…Bad memories, not so much…

I know you dislike a few people...I've refrained from using hate. I''m such a good judge of character, I either like or dislike someone in the first three minutes.

I just cannot stand people that like everyone or would just be so friendly.

My teenager is curious about everything. I like that he often asks my opinion, I love that he asks questions and ultimately forms his own opinions.

Wow thanks for the extensive reply. Looks like you really put in some effort there which makes me feel a lil bad t have to dismiss it.

I've never had an opportunity to like/dislike these kinds of people. They don't fit here. You don't hear people saying "Gee wiz I really didn't like that Jeffery Dahmer!"

To me this OP is about the 'not liking someone' that comes from personal experience with them. An opinion that is formed over time or in some cases immediately.

Anyway your post is interesting to say the least, and i appreciate it.
