Who Did You Vote For & Your Reasons Why???

So the elections almost over thank goodness and hopefully sanity will return to our lives, news stations will turn down the rhetoric and whoever wins will be accepted.

I would like to ask two questions to everyone who voted or is planning to.

1. Who did you vote for?

2. What were the driving issues that determined your vote?

I know these can be sensitive issues to everyone so I hope this can stay civil.

If are not going to vote there is no need to state your reasons there are several threads already here covering that subject matter.

I certainly hope no one takes offense that I am asking these questions.

I just want to add I fully respect all who voted regardless of who you voted for one of the reasons I authored this thread is that it will hopefully show the dominant issues that shaped the result of this election.

I would like to thank everyone who takes the time to contribute to this thread in advance.

First I voted for Obama.

To answer the second question.

There are several issues for the way I voted these were some of the main ones.

1. Renewable energy which I believe is essential to our future.

2. Healthcare issue (Repeal and replace doesn’t work for me Replace then repeal would have worked for me)

3. Foreign policy (the aggressive stance with the world I do not believe in Iran just announced they are halting enrichment at 20% so sanctions are taking effect)

4. Military (being a veteran I know how much waste goes on and the military wants more SF and less ships, Tanks, and fighters that we don’t use and so forth)

5. The privatization of foreign aid, FEMA, and national security I am against.

6. The proposed tax cuts from Romney’s plan I just cannot get behind the math does not balance out (lack of details) it may have produced short term gain but I see it as disastrous in the future.

7. Education I support teachers and their right to unionize and be heard I believe they know better than politicians what is needed to change for the schools to improve.

I purposely left out my personal feelings about the candidates but I know for some it will be big on their list.

i voted for romney because some people just want to see the world burn (insert joker here)

I'm going for Gary Johnson this year. Some of the reasons are:

1) He isn't Obama or Romney. I just don't trust them.
2) He is against NDAA and the use of drones.
3) I want to see 3rd parties become viable. Hopefully help sway some of these people's mind that think it's a wasted vote to go 3rd party if enough people start doing it.
4) Is for legalization of a silly plant.
5) Foreign policy. I believe our problems here need more attention that our world policing does.

I voted for Gary Johnson because I feel it is VERY important to force the nation to realize that we are sick of their crap and that a third party IS relevant today. In my opinion, Obama and Romney don't care about any of us or what happens to the USA, the only thing they care about is themselves and the people who are willing to put more money into their pockets. I know Johnson isn't going to win but I hope he can get enough of the votes to show America that we do care about more than their "big two."

Yes - I don't think he'll win either. But the stronger and stronger 3rd party followings get, we could make them become viable. I'm going to do my part to help with that.

I voted for Romney because I am just hoping for a change! Ya right! But I did but nothings gonna turn this ship around. I guess we can enjoy listening to the music play while it sinks.

I didnt get to vote for anyone because I couldn't seem to properly register to vote. I did the first part of the registration online, then it wanted me to print out the actual registration paper and mail it, but I didnt have a printer. However, I gave them my address when I did the first part online (which it made me enter my info twice on 2 different sites) so I assumed they would send me the registration paper in the mail. However, that never came so I just said screw it, not like my vote would have any effect anyways.

I always found the representational part of democracy rather pointless. Like, why even have an electoral college? Shouldn't it rely entirely on the vote of the people (or am I a "socialist" or something for entertaining that idea?)? Seems that our votes are only "considered" by the electoral college and they make the actual vote, just doesnt seem very democratic.

Anyways, I digress, If I would have been able to vote I would have voted for Gary Johnson for the exact reasons the first poster after the OP gave.

Come Tuesday I will be voting for Obama.

While I do not agree with many things he has signed into law Romney offered absolutely nothing but the same stance on those areas and several frighteningly scary steps backwards. And the issues I do agree with the President on Romney is opposite. All the grumblers and naysayers aside he added more jobs to the economy in four years than Bush did in eight. Despite the fact that Bush had two huge tax cuts to stimulate the economy with. And despite the fact that first few months of Obama's term was plagued with the highest number of job losses since the depression. The President walked into a nightmare and got the ship patched and upright he deserves a shot at showing us what he can do with it.

2. Because nobody on ATS took me up on my offer to trade in Obama and Romney votes for a third-party candidate.

Let's just say that when pilots change but the flight plans don't, I see no sense in allowing incumbents to remain. Not ever. If romney is 'selected', he will receive my axe the instant he opens his mouth to lie. As will they all. There's no difference, just a temporary change of power. It may even be best that barry wins, and sits as a lame duck. And believe me...this is the only thing that is going through mind of the only vote that matters. The zionist master vote. So, you got something against Polish people? If so, why?

I didnt vote for any of the two because I am perfectly confident in each of the candidates abilities to do their job to the best of their knowledge and ability. And the differences between them are not as big as they are made to look. And who happens to be President is not of utmost importance in a civilized country.

I voted Gary as well. He is the only one left in the race where I agree on over 75% of issues I have heard from him on. The other two are well below 50%, I hope they both...... Nevermind, that is not nice to say, so I will stop myself there.

Oops forgot to answer number 2, sorry. If I had to pick top 3 issues, I would say guns, internet and civil liberty policies.

I thought I would see more people voting on issues here for some reason. I guess I was wrong it seems this is more of a popularity contest.
