Is it safe to put a small battery-powered tesla-ball lamp thingy on a magnetic Levitron?

Probably wouldn't hurt anything. First question to my mind, though, is: why?

Well, i have a 6 year old nephew and i'm driving home this year which means i can keep the big magnet away from my computer and show him. It's about the right size and would look cool levitating. I just didn't want to zap either of them, especially the Levitron, they ain't cheap.

Also, I do know magnets drain batteries, but the magnet's rubber coated, and who cares it's 3 rechargeables.

never know till ya try.... I'd try it before you get them though, just to be safe.

I DO know not to cover the globe with aluminum foil....

That vid was cool! Thanks!
And I already have both, I was just trying to decide what to rotate on the Levitron for my nephew.
I'm not sure he's seen a plasma ball either! I just don't want the magnet to crash and break it.

Magnets don't drain batteries, unless the magnet was connected across the battery terminals as a short circuit.

I'd never heard that one before, so I googled it and was surprised how many people believe it. You're right about card stripes and magnets, I use some pretty powerful electromagnets at work and have managed to ruin more than a few bank cards over the years.
