Calm before the storm [CTPWC]

OK, I'm not a poet...
Waaayyyyyyyy back when I was a teenager/young adult, my sibling was in one of those relationships that were on again/off again and we were in our big "song writer" stage of life.
This is one that I came up with wayyyyy back then (about 25 years ago)

be gentle, I was a child at the time

Calm Before the Storm:

Lightning strikes, as the thunder rolls
What happens next, I don’t know
The wind grows cold as your heart does too
I don’t’ know what I’ll do when I lose you

(chorus)
It’s the calm before the storm
A cold wind blows as another piece of my heart is torn
My eyes form the clouds as my tears turn to rain
My heart becomes the storm along with all the pain

You touch my hand as the rains begin
You say you just want to remain friends
I hear your message and what it holds
But the lightning’s no good till the thunder rolls

(repeat chorus)

Soon the clouds will break, and the sun will start to shine
The winds will calm, and you’ll once again be mine
All the tears will dry and my heart will warm
But I know it’s just the calm before another storm

...as the thunder rolls....

anybody else ever go through a song-writing phase?

This eerily reminds me of the Garth Brooks song just a little too much... A few of the verses are even the same as the song itself. Because of that, I cannot star or flag this poem. Sorry.

actually wrote it about 2 years before his came out... always wondered if he "borrowed" some of it... I had sent it to Nashville an everything...
