The Swallow
Retired her head upon Herculanians shoulder
gazing toward horizon's brow.
Succumbing to her water's ebb.

Sea of seas in the periphery.
Endless field of souls perched.

Monumental myths forever lost,
Nowhere remembered,
to which ancient chants adorned themselves,
Kept eternal the secrets unbound,
but for the whisper beneath the flickering

Light. Ancient Caller.

White wings heard inside the mystery
where ego could not stir to impart
but through hushed whispers long
hidden in retreat.

Tired rebellion swooned in the sea of seas.

The swallow chimed through immortal windows .....
the souls of men............
amidst silent rhythms of space
preserved in liquid motion suspended
by the mystery of the heavens inside the Call.

Tears and wings....
through the veil inside the pupil of a child...
white and red things born amidst the struggle
to prevail.

Love born in slaughter.

I saw the swallow perch
its heavy feet in destiny's vision
Upon the ivory perch of bloodshed......
her majesty's winged shoulder called 'man'.

I heard her meloncholic song
in lament with the last whisper of earth's broken heart ..........
Falling to the moving waters......the souls of men...............
and inside the echo of her song was heard

The ancient calls whispering lament...
"this is love....this is man...this is life and the battle aflight".

Inside the window of her eyes
wings in white flight
bloodshed tears
strove the souls towards her white freedom
of immortality,
inside the pupil of a child
through bloodshed, yearning and all things lost.

Stolen souls inside the slaughter and yearning.

She retired her head upon horizon's brow.....
weeping in the eternal struggle.
Her wings perched on hisory's descent
singing to the dove....'the white song'.

Beautifully written and especially important to me...........

The swallow has always had a symbolic meaning for sailors because these birds were usually the first sign that land was near (before modern navigation technology).

A swallow tattoo for a sailor reflected his hope of coming home safely. Another fact is that swallows return home every year, no matter where they are. Every year, Mission San Juan Capistrano in California plays host to this wonder of nature. A flock of the tiny birds numbering in the tens or even hundreds of thousands descends upon the mission in a grand display of the workings of migration.

The swallow is a bird that chooses a mate for life. Therefore a swallow tattoo is also a symbol for love and loyalty to the family.

Phew...........I was starting to think I may have freaked you out there for a minute.

Slayer got me all paranoid

Thanks for the nice comments and may I reciprocate by saying how deeping moving you poem is to me - I have printed it out in a san serif font, laminated it and is now travelling the seven seas with me - stuck on the bulkhead in my cabin!
