The politicians are busy patting themselves on the back saying how good a job they are all doing .. and in the mean time people are dumpster diving for food and pulling out guns to get a gallon of gas.

Fox has nothing to do with being balanced.

Fox news raison d'etre

What about giving a reasonable amount of airtime to:

a)green party
b)constitution party
c)libertarian party
d)socialist party

Of course Fox News is very biased from a conservative standpoint, BUT WHO gives airtime to the parties I discussed? Why does it take RT and C-SPAN to cover a third party debate? Surely there is an agenda to push private interests.

CNN, CNBC, CBS, ABC are almost as bad!

They all lie. Every.Single.Channel.

"There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, in America as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did you know beforehand that it would never appear in print.

"I am paid $150 a week for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for things, and if any of you would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before 24 hours, my occupation would be gone.

"The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes.

"We are Jumping-Jacks -- they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes!"

-- John Swinton, 1914, former Editor New York Times.

Yes and no.

In 95% of cases, most people by the time they get home at night already heard the "news" via newspaper or friend or internet. They go home at night and watch FOX because they want to nightly-sensationalised twist.

Have any evidence to support this statistic of 95%?

Fact 98% of statistics are made up on the spot.

See how easy that was?

FOX news is propaganda. So is CNN, MSNBC, and every other major news network on TV today. Anyone who can not see this is blind or willfully ignoring the facts.

F&S for the OP! I couldn't agree more!

IMO, anyone who watches Fox News for anything other than entertainment purposes, should seriously think about seeing a shrink. The same holds true for those who listen to Rush Limbaugh expecting to hear the truth about anything. The good new is that ObamaCare should cover their much needed psychiatric care.

Fox News fought for and won the right to lie on the air. Why any reasonable person would expect to hear anything other than propaganda, from a news organization with the proven moral values of a pathological liar, is beyond my ability to comprehend.

Liberals are to dumb and stubborn to even admit that Fox news ratings totally dominate them.Even though both sides spin their news and have bias opinions.MSNBC is even worse and their ratings prove so. Bill O'reilly exposes how bias the left wing media is every single week with facts.

Talk show conservative host also prove with facts how bias the left wing has become and they are wreckless to the countrys national security.
Democrats who are not being biased admit that they are bias and people still won't listen.

OK Pat Caddell who is a democrat and liberal says the liberal media has become dangerous to the country.

It is not about what they "report" but what they leave out.
Would you find it acceptable if Saddam was allowed to report to the American people his position and let us decide what happens next?

It's no news that Fox is a Republican outlet.

But it is also no surprise that the rest are Pro-Democrat outfits as well.

They do this intentionally as it drives ratings, which equals profits. And truth be told FOXNews is beating the rest hands down.

And the saying, "We report, you decide." is actually a fair statement.

It's always up to us as to what we believe.

They're all controlled by a small number of corporations that have a common ideology and none of them can be trusted which is why we need to rely more on alternative media outlets for our news. The "Fair and Balanced" claim is part of one of the most common propaganda techniques they've ever had, repeating things over and over again. this works best on the people that have been raised in the most authoritarian manner and taught to adopt the same ideology. they're constantly trying to manipulate peoples emotions to control them.

But only the most thoroughly indoctrinated believe Fox is fair and balanced; for the rest it is actually a great way to recognize propaganda if people think things through but if they don't get accustomed to fact checking they could be lured into complacency and be fooled by the distraction and manipulation techniques.

This is why I have been creating a list of alternative media outlets if anyone is interested so that people could find many more locations to get their news and so that they could fact check things easier. The most important news or ideas are often the things that the corporate media doesn't want to report and they don't unless on a few occasion the alternative outlets let the public know about something so important that they wonder why the corporations haven't been reporting it so they have to provide some coverage or lose what little credibility they have left.

No those others networks are not propaganda. They are just stupid. There is a difference.

I like how Fox cult members react when they are cornered and are forced to face that fox is bullsh!t. They just say that all media is biased and the same.

It's the same when they find out that Mitt is bullsh!t. The just say all politicians are the same.

Admit that fox is bullsh!t and move on.

Only Morons actually think they Present Real News.

You must be on another planet, or maybe another dimension - I don't think I've heard Fox News make those claims, lol. That's a good one and you sound so serious too!

This may have been addressed already but if you are looking for Fox News to make claims that they are an entrainment channel first and a news outlet a disssssssssssssssstant second then a google search of former Fox journalists sueing the network. The outcome of that case was in Fox's favor because they are determined to be an entrainment channel and not a real news source.

Well of course they are. What did you expect...magic?

The big difference here is that it at least isn't for a lack of action. Remember also that the logistics of moving things in and out of a devastated NYC is VASTLY more complex than moving things in and out of a devastated New Orleans. The streets are narrower, the buildings taller, there is less parking, and less room to maneuver heavy equipment. If you don't believe just try parking a car in NYC sometime when it's all cleaned up. Now imagine trying to move semi trailers, and large trucks through a debris-strewn street in NY or NJ. Similarly, most of NYC's and NJ's electrical infrastructure is UNDERGROUND...thus irrespective of how quickly an above-ground substation is repaired...you can't really flip the juice back on until the tunnels are drained...can you?

Notwithstanding, the death toll is still FAR less than what it was in Katrina...despite affecting a VASTLY HIGHER POPULATION. At the onset of winter, nevertheless.

Take a lesson Chris Christie here. There isn't any shame in admitting that someone is doing a good job handling the situation even if you are from the other side of the aisle.

In fact...the opposite is true. Christie actually earned my respect. That doesn't mean that we can't still EXAMINE how the relief effort is going. However...there is a big difference between critique and unwarranted partisan criticism.

Trying to downplay the successful response to this just makes the right-wing look childish and silly. Just like the non-issue in Benghazi, and the repeated assertions that Obama is Kenyan Muslim KGB agent or whatever the latest rant of the day is.

...and remember...I don't even LIKE the Obama Administration. No matter HOW he handles this event it does not outweigh his signing of the NDAA, the NDRA, his failure to close Guantanamo, and our continued participation in wars which we cannot hope to win. I'm voting for Johnson and was an ardent supporter of Ron Paul previously.

...but that doesn't mean I deny the reality that Obama is doing a DAMN good job on this thing. And you shouldn't either.

Is that like how Fox haters refuse to admit that there is bias in all media outlets? Is that the same as when they find out that all politicians lie, but refuse to admit that it is possible for their side to do so?

The only one burying his head in the sand over this is you.

No, FOX News is a special kind of news. Did those other biased news outlets go to court to fight for their right to Lie?? No, thats just FOX News. FOX News is special.. Kind of like how Hitler propaganda was special compared to other politicians. A special breed of hate, a special bend toward war, a special kind of fear of outsiders. A special form of nationalism. Don't sell them short.. They fought hard for that right to lie.

What does Fox do to you that you just refuse to look beyond what they're telling you? Do you believe their ideas are your ideas? Do they make you afraid of things that only they have the solutions for? Do they tell you that everyone else in the world is corrupt and they are the only path to freedom and righteousness?

Wake up!
Break free of the cult, think for yourself

Wow. I love people who make assumptions. Early, me saying I would give Romney the benefit of the doubt if he is elected led to one person assuming I was racist. Now, me saying that all media is biased means you assume I watch Fox News.

Care to support that assertion with anything I've said? No? Okay, then as I said to the member who called me a racist, "Step off, son."

Do any of you remember when Fox News first started? Nobody thought they would ever make it. They would get low ratings and downhill from there. Truth is if your a Democrat you don't like Fox News. Thats fine but gone are the days of when your only choices were ABC,NBC and CBS.

Now you have many choices and that is only good. I don't have to tell you who dominates the ratings. It sure isn't MSNBC. I have always been a CNN viewer. Best political coverage hands down. The only show that I will watch on Fox News is RedEye. It's funny. Relax people, you have a choice.

In my opinion, the fact that we have a choice is the problem. It's not a good thing that we've allowed people to exist inside bubbles of their choosing. Regardless of the side they represent, when news abandons journalistic integrity, and becomes a bias agenda driven agency, we should call it what it is, and that's propaganda.

If we maintained journalistic integrity we'd get the facts as they are, no bias, no spin, no opinions. We wouldn't have people in bubbles hearing "COMMUNISTS! NAZI! SOCIALIST! LIBERALS! TEABAGGERS! UNPATRIOTIC!" from dismissive talking heads after each story.

Is it any surprise that people are becoming more divided and dismissive of each other?

Most importantly we'd have an environment that encourages people to think for themselves. No one thinks for themselves anymore. Week after week I hear people repeating the same talking points that their parties put out on these networks.

Journalistic integrity would keep the public informed as a public service, but what we have now is more interested in manipulating the public into seeing things their way. That's a problem no matter how you spin it.
