Prepare to be amazed-friends who know it don't spoil it-here it goes:

Pick a number any number between 50 and 100

Now double that number...
Now add 34 to it...
Now divide it in half...
Now the hard part-subtract away the original number started with...

Answer in my next post!

Do you think I have it?

I think I do!

I think it is your favorite number...

The answer is your number for sure...

Wanna bet?

All your essentially doing is dividing 34 in half.
The original number gets subtracted out at the very end.

If I switch 34 for 22..the answer will always be 11.

No, it isnt my favorite number, because that number had nothing whatsoever to do with the test.

Off Topic: Entertainment is the correct forum, in my opinion. No reason to be condescending.

I have been "performing" this trick for decades. It used to be a lot of fun and amaze a lot of people. Rather than just the single addition though I would always throw in a few extra adds and subtracts (making sure to not confuse myself in the process lmao) to keep people even more amazed and bewildered.

HOWEVER... Over the years the trick has been proving less and less successful as time passes. Not because people don't get it, or aren't amazed.. it's that they CAN'T get it. People have been so dummed down, and passed through school with little effort, that for most people it is impossible to even do this rudimentary math in their heads and therefore they always end up with the wrong answer. Then I have to start all over with "OK, what number did you pick? Ok, that doubled is such and such, add 16 is such and such" and so on until they see what their correct answer should have been. Totally ruins the trick.

OK. Seriously.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!

Ok. I'll stop yelling now.
That was the number I was going to pick, before I realized you said between 50 and 100

Normally, I would have picked 42, because that's the answer to everything.
But nooooo, this time I first chose 17.

Weird.....

Oh. The number over 50 that I picked was 64. So I'm still not sure how you got my first choice, unless I was reading your mind?
