I am convinced we need to learn to live off the grid

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy and seeing all the news articles and videos, people are running around like chickens with their heads cut off because we as a society are to dependent on others. What I mean is, we are to dependent on state/city run utilities, when they go out, all hell breaks loose, public tap water is not safe to drink.....so what can we as individuals, who want to learn have to do, to power our own homes, provide ourselves with clean water and so on without having to rely on the government to do it? I am legitimately curious, seeing all those people looking helpless because they've become so dependent on these things scares the # out of me, TPTB truly have made it so we need them.....

This is a very good subject, one worth discussing thoroughly.

Consider this...
Everyone attached to this "system" have allowed themselves to do so.
It is never a choice, it's always an excuse...but the fact remains clear.

People choose to rely on others for their luxuries.
It's convenient, easy and they can spend more time as a consumer.
We most definitely need to learn to live off the grid...
This grid will not be around forever!

If in any given time, someone spent more money on unnecessary items rather than stock of food.
Wasted money or time buying into their "consumerism" instead of learning to grow food...
Wasting life away staring at a television instead of learning how to live without electricity...
The same would go for basic survival skills and mindsets.
These skills are extremely important and should not be taken for granted.
But they are everyday by a large amount of people.

All these things are not hard to learn or become good at.
But people must feel these skills are important.
For some reason we lost the necessity of survival a long time ago.
These days, people are more worried about the holidays, shopping or entertainment.

It could be considered "dumbing down" or a "plan".
Because if you look around, it is rampant.
Passed down from generations of apathy.
People haven't needed to survive in years.
It's a time of plenty, not a time of starvation.
But the "Great Culling" is near.

My problem with society in general...
People just don't know what to do when the power goes out.
They panic when their computer freezes.
Or if the television won't turn on.
These same people are directly to blame.
For they have wasted time on meaningless things.
Instead of gaining back what we have lost over the years.

Freedom.

Easiest way to cull the population...unplug them.

I actually believe that may happen as a directed chaos theory.
All these "elites" have to do is shut down the grid.
Or unplug the internet.
Then they could complete a mass extermination.
Although they'd lose alot of tax revenue...
It seems most of them already made all their wealth though.
Through bailouts, market bubbles, investments, etc.
So maybe the time is more near than I thought.

But imagine if TPTB shut off the internet...and blamed a "malfunction" somewhere.
It would be devastating to loads of people, who rely completely on its existance.

I could only imagine what would happen in the streets.
Panic overcomes individuals when they miss a sale at Macy's let alone...
Loss of electricity or internet for days.

I don't allow myself much sympathy for people these days, either.
Because we've all had time to prepare for the worst.
It's up to people themselves to learn how to survive.
Yet people still rely on a dated grid.
That could fail any minute.

You really can't get completely off of the grid because it is everywhere.

It is there when you go to church,it is there when you pay your taxes............

The real reason it is so pervasive is most people's stupid faith in it and many other things.

The grid itself is mainly just commerce,or trade, and that has pretty much always been here to one level or another.

People have become too dependent on it,complacent, lazy, fat and weak, and forgotten what they once knew and had to do to survive.

The grid is just a giant village, where people work together to help one another out,to provide the the safety and necessary resources to one another to survive.

The village has become too large to accomidate it's population too large to provide the resources it needs to survive with the current systems in place,if we were all to drop off of it and live off the land,we would soon realise that there isn't enough to go around,we ruined our environment quite some time ago.

What has to change is our system of government, our system of commerce, our religious system.

www.youtube.com...

Not sure how to insert a you tube link, but here is my attempt at it for like the first time.

It is a very long movie, but it is a pretty good documentary which presents what would be a perfectly good model for the changes that must be made short of finding a new planet to inhabit.
