I held her hand and felt a flutter
Lost in thought my knees felt like butter.
The day spent was too brisk and short.
Her perfume is soft and hauntingly sweet

I walked the rails to her house with inebriating
thoughts of her beauty and grace from the day before
I nervously knocked then she opened the door
Her perfume is soft and hauntingly sweet

The summer was filled with exploration and promises.
Time was short and a thief.
I danced with her and my two left feet.
Her perfume is soft and hauntingly sweet

I think back now being much older.
My hands shake from age as I
find the shoe box up in the corner.
Many now forgotten heart felt promises...
