oops I quoted Leon before I saw your post. Honest!

So you are trying to tell me ol Leon was not a Marxist?

Leon Trotsky[2] (Russian: Лев Троцкий, pronounced [ˈlʲef ˈtrot͡skʲɪj] ( listen); 7 November [O.S. 26 October] 1879 – 21 August 1940), born Lev Davidovich Bronshtein,[2] was a Russian Marxist revolutionary and theorist, Soviet politician, and the founder and first leader of the Red Army.

Trotsky's ideas formed the basis of Trotskyism, a major school of Marxist thought that is opposed to the theories of Stalinism.

Saying that he wasn't classic is just a denial. Why do you do it?

I don't understand why you and others insist on making such odd arguments.

But don't just take wikipedia's word for it.
Please do enjoy Trotsky's pamphlet entitled "Marxism In Our Time". (dated April 1939

The fact that you try to tie this to Marxism just shows your own private paranoia and psychosis.

That's pretty funny. You ought to check out some of the Marxist/communist/socialist websites that practically say they would do anything to further their agenda.

How about the words of Leon Trotsky, a famous Russian communist Revolutionary.

A means can be justified only by its end. But the end in its turn needs to be justified. (Also quoted as "The end may justify the means as long as there is something that justifies the end.")

Uh..., I never claimed that some Marxist hasn't said such a thing, or that it isn't an axiom of various quasi-Marxist groups. My point is that this phrase has been used by other groups and individuals, and certainly the axiom has been applied by many, including the US military/government. Your claim was that anyone using this phrase is obviously espousing Marxist doctrine, which is not the case.

As another example, Hitler was a vegetarian and a virulent non-smoker, but someone espousing the same lifestyle choices certainly isn't necessarily a Nazi.

These are not odd arguments. There is more than one school of Marxism that will tell you it's the only true and classic school. Trotsky held views certain divergent from that of Marx. And his "ends justify the means" phrase is hardly the essence and/or spirit of Marxism. I'm not defending Marxism by any means. I don't like Marxism as a political school of thought (even if some of its analysis of economic matters is correct). But I find it odd that you feel compelled to go through two stages to denigrate Obama:

a) characterize Marxism as super evil while using Trotsky, not the most savory figure, as an example.
b) make a conjecture that Obama is somehow Marxist. That's just weird.

And I find both of the items odd indeed. More so in combination.

Tempus fugit...

This election will be winding in a few short hours. Bearing this in mind, it is kindly suggested to everyone to please remain on topic and refrain from attacking one another or resorting to any kind of political trollery. Adherence to this simple request is expected. No exceptions.

Consider this fair warning.
